Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

T Mac gets the gig in my mind.  Always does the hard stuff, has his head on straight and has real presence.

Bernie would my next pick.  He really lead the way with his on field behavior when he first came to the club and if anything will, perhaps it might also lift his form a notch or two, which the side desperately needs at the moment.

Jordan Lewis said on AFL 360 that he has not earned the right to captain the MDC, and he reckons it will be between Gawn & McDonald.

That said, I still wouldn't be surprised to see Jordan named.  But will be happy with whoever is appointed, just so long as they lead us to a victory over the blue boys!

There is no way is should be Lewis, his hit (and suspension) on Cripps earlier in the year, and a couple of fade outs have taken the gloss off for me.

Tommy MacDonald is in form, mature and humble. Plus he's stepped up and taken on ruck and full forward this season with good result.

Not all players are actually good at captaincy.

Has to be someone who can lead an 1812 attack....and have them follow !! They need to follow

1812? As in Napoleon taking on the Russian winter? Not sure of your historical allegory there BB --- perhaps D-Day or the Kokoda track? Anyway, Tmac for mine. He is probably our most in-form player at the moment. Gawn needs to concentrate on getting back to his best, Vince is a bit flaky for mine, and Lewis hasn't really been setting things alight on the field.

Couldnt agree more with the bloke. He cannot be captain with under 12 games for the greatest club in the world. I admire him saying this though. He has humility.

Vince or Lewis... I would follow them/play for them the most!

Out of curiosity - what has Lewis done since coming to the MFC that would have you following his lead over guys like Tmac or Gawn?

Not bashing on JL, I'm a fan.

With both Jack Viney and Nathan Jones sidelined through injury, the Demons have decided to share the captaincy load among its leadership group rather than appointing an interim captain.

Goodwin said Max Gawn was likely to toss the coin against Carlton, but no-one would carry the official title, with Tom McDonald, Bernie Vince and Jordan Lewis job-sharing.

It's the older head and proven experience. I would say, "what do you reckon?" to JL before T-Mac...

True he certainly has experience but being captain is more than that. For me it is mostly about your ability to inspire your team mates. That means someone like Gawn or tmac rather than JL.

I think you are underestimating how much the players look up to Jordan on the field. I do however believe we need to see more of Jordan's A game and maybe Sunday might be the incentive.

I like that the Club has decided that the Captaincy will be shared around for the next couple of weeks. The sense of leadership is what we have been lacking for years. Despite thinking at the beginning of the season that having two captains was a bad idea, I have now come to see that it is working really well between Nate and Jack and it could possibly be a small part of why we have taken a leap forward this year (probably further ahead than a lot of people would have expected).

We now have leaders on the field that may not be formally titled leaders but they are leaders in every sense of the word. Tommy Mac, Jordan and Max will step up to a new level with Jack and Nate out. Even Christian Petracca by his actions alone will inspire. Max may be a funny man of field but on field he does have an air of command.

When we lost Max and others at the beginning of the season, PJ told staff that out of adversity people grow. We have grown as a Club this year despite injuries and rotten fixturing and we have shown that to the footy world. We now have to overcome this short period until our A graders return one by one. As supporters we just have to continue to believe in the players and coaching staff and continue to turn up to games. If we don't attend games we are telling the players we don't believe that you can do it.

On Sunday there will be plenty of rabid Carlton fans who believe that it is their time. We need to be there to be a voice, a noise that will give confidence to the players that we are behind them. If there was a time when the Club needs their supporters to make a noise, it is now when times are tough. Not tough like it was three or more years ago but now we are fighting against things we cannot control. The Club needs us to show our support by being there on Sunday.

I wouldn't bet on it,wasn't Grimes (co.capt),Trengove (co.capt) and the fill in capt all were injured in a short space of time. Someone mentioned Captain's curse. The player most unlkely to get a game when our stars return should be a bench warmer.

Possibly I don't know any of them. I just assumed they would be more inspired by Max or Tmac having known them longer. But yea this may not be the case.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
