Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My comment was based around finances. I live in Sydney, I have family in Melbourne and I already have 2 weeks in QLD in late September/October then heading abroad for 9 days. For going to Adelaide I would have to consider all costs on top of flights.

You can save money on food and accommodation by sleeping in a barrel of Nippys.

West Coast are the only team that can displaces us in the 8.... if we lose to the Pies, and they beat the Crows.

Just beat Collingwood.  Simple.

Wrong. we can lose next week and still make it  or lose and finish as low as 11th. Best to just beat the filth.

There is no way dogs or saints will catch up 9 and 10 % respectively. Even if we lose by 70 and they win by 70 I still think we come up on top of %

Adelaide may well have nothing to play for come the twilight game next week.

If Geelong beats GWS they can't be displaced from 1st.

If GWS beats Geelong then they'll be 2nd. However, if Richmond beats St Kilda then they'll be destined to host Richmond in their first final, which I'd have thought they'd like. A win would put them back in 1st and facing Geelong.

Alternatively, if Richmond lose to St Kilda, then that opens the door for either Port or Sydney to finish 4th (with Geelong 3rd). If it's Sydney, you'd think they'd prefer Geelong. If it's Port though, I'm sure they'd prefer 1st.

This all means nothing if we beat Collingwood, but if we do lose then this could all become interesting.

Sydney only have to claw back a little bit of % next week, assuming they, the Tiges and Port all win. It's very plausible that we could be playing Port in Adelaide in week 1.

It just so happens that Jetstar have just started direct flights from Hobart to Adelaide. It could be fate...

Even if we win, a heap of other games will determine where we finish.  In order of time played:  Syd vs Carlton. Port vs Suns. Ess vs Freo. Rich vs StK.

Assuming we win Demons/Ess will finish 7th/8th. But Ess will know the results of most other games so they will know the exact score they need to avoid meeting Sydney in the Elim final.  They will milk that advantage for all it is worth.

All we can do is go out and win and play our best and que sera sera.  But we will need to wait till this time next Sunday to know who we play in the Elim (if we get there).  It will be a very long weekend.

Wrong. Its a lot closer then you think. they don't have to make up 8 9% if we drop 4 % they only need to win by 40 point. Granted it most likely won't happen .

Wish we had the twilight Sunday game next week.

Never thought I'd say that.

I admit I wasn't concerned about the 6 day break initially but that was before I realised they'd given Essendon an 8 day break because of it. Seriously it's not hard, Essendon plays Freo at ES on Saturday gets a 7 day break and we play Collingwood on Sunday and also get a 7 day break.

Is there something at the AFL that prevents them from seeing the obvious?

Favouritism.

Ess in the finals is this years AFL feel good story like WB were last year.

Watch Ess get all the favourable rest breaks like WB did last year.  The AFL will do over every team except GWS to help Ess go deep into the finals.

As I noted in the post above, Ess will be able to position themselves to avoid playing Syd in the prelim.  The AFL will do the rest.

If we can make it, I'm not too concerned with who we play.  The experience of playing finals is what this group needs.  Of course I'd love to go deep into September, but playing finals will set us up for a great tilt from 2018 onwards.

The best outcome is Port at AAMI.  The worst is obviously the Swans up there.  If we can have our best side on the park then we can match it with anyone.  We just have to make sure we make it, first.

Best outcome is Rich at the G.

It is very possible.  StK thrashed Rich by 11 goals 5 weeks ago and they will desperate to give Nick a big farewell.  They can do it again.  If Port and Syd beat Suns and Carl as expected, whoever has the biggest win will be 4th and Rich will be 6th.  To improve our chances to play them at the G we need the biggest possible win vs Pies making it hard for Ess to end up 7th.  Places still wide open.

Yep, totally agree that it is very possible.  The Saints will want to send off Roo on a high and they are every chance to knock them off.  I'd be happy with Richmond at the G.

There are 2 reasons why I'd like us to take on Port on their home deck - one is that we play AAMI very, very well, and the other is that Port have a soft underbelly and we match up on them very well.  I'd be happy with either Richmond or Port.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
