Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Exactly what I said before round 5. Tigers are terrible (and they are, I agree with you there).

And I DID put the house on it. lol

Haha - ok with the caveat that as long as we don't get decimated by injuries.

Given our injury run we've actually done well to ride out done very difficult patches, it's now laid out for us with lots of very winnable games against lesser teams.

I'm still not counting my chickens yet, call it MFCSS or whatever, but ultimately it's in the players hands. They have the ability to take it to any team on their day, and their starting to get that synergy that good teams have.

Lets show it against the Roos, bury one of the last of those stupid hoodoos, and keep the other top 8 teams on notice. Mess up and we're right behind you.

Roos and lions are the bottom sides on thr ladder because they are garbage. If we deserve finals we should also beat Pies and Saints.

Dare to dream

If we miss finals I'll blame you DWA, why tempt fate like that? My most hated 4 words in the english language. You want to block offensive content @Demonland I'd have that 4 word combo at the top of the list.

Seriously though, anyone who'd rather play Richmond than Port in the finals hasn't been watching this season. The Tiger aren't that bad a side, a bit inconsistent like us but they're better than Port, West Coast, the Bulldogs, St Kilda and Essendon.

3 of the top 4 losing this week has blown the premiership race open. 2 top 4 spots there for the taking and GWS looking very shaky and with a difficult run home. A top 4 spot is ours if we're good enough. Win our last 5 and we'll have the double chance, regardless of what else happens. We could let 1 slip and still make the 4 but would need other games to go our way.

To miss the 8 from here we'd have to choke, win the games we should (nth, bris, coll) and we're playing finals. As a lifelong demon I can't rule out us choking big time but I do have the feeling that this group is made of different stuff than the demon sides I've followed from the mid 70's.

That win against Port was such a big boost.

Next week I have the following results:

  • Swans beat Hawks
  • Melbourne beat North Melbourne
  • GWS beat Fremantle
  • Port Adelaide beat St Kilda
  • Richmond beat Gold Coast
  • Geelong beat Carlton
  • Essendon beat Western Bulldogs
  • West Coast beat Brisbane
  • Adelaide beat Collingwood

Assuming percentage doesn't change too much then we will still be seventh, one game ahead of eighth and two games ahead of tenth.

The Port Adelaide win was massive.

Would those results put us two games clear of 9th spot?  Cos that would be huge.

Yes we would be 2 games clear of 10th.

But Round 20 looks like the round that will shape the final 8 as you have Cats v Sydney, Dees v Giants, Stkilda v West Coast and Tigers v Hawks (im hoping Hawks win this week to give them a sniff) and Port v Crows.

If results go our way we could be as high as third, but yes 1 week at time!

Agree with those tips... you can exchange Bombers and Bulldogs which in turn exchanges 8th and 9th places.

Not much movement likely but we must win to stay in the mix.

The real moving day is the next week where there are a few intra 8 games. The GWS game is shaping up (dare I say it) as a season defining game.

Hawks form is important to us ... They play Swans, Tigers and Bulldogs as part of their last five.

Go Hawks (this last few weeks only) !!

I don't see any reason why we can't win every remaining game.

  • Time we beat North Melbourne
  • GWS are vulnerable and over-rated
  • Should beat St Kilda, Brisbane and Collingwood at the MCG

If we do somehow win every game we genuinely could finish as high as second.

If we drop a few we could also finish tenth, what a crazy season.

I also don't see why we can't win our remaining 5 games. We also need to at least put 2 of those teams to the sword. % could be the difference between 3-6 on the ladder.

If we win the games we're supposed to (North, Brisbane, Saints, Pies), then it's game on for fourth.

Sydney plays:

  • Hawthorn (A)
  • Geelong (A)
  • Freo (H)
  • Adelaide (A)
  • Carlton (H)

Port:

  • St Kilda (H)
  • Adelaide (A/H)
  • Collingwood (H)
  • Bulldogs (A)
  • Sun (A)

My ladder predictor has us finishing 5th pending Richmond take care of St Kilda in the final round, but the Saints could be playing for a finals spot, depending on how Essendon goes.

4th spot you would think is between Melbourne, Richmond, Port and Sydney.

Hawks v Richmond on the same weekend that we play GWS.

Will be a lot swinging on those two results.

Why does my MFCSS keep telling me we are going to lose a relatively "easy" match. Time to believe that we are over performances like that one against Carlton in the second last round last year.

From a selfish perspective I don't want us to finish top 4, as I'm not here for the prelim or grand final... but realistically our run home is very good. We only play one top 8 side, and we finish the year off at the G against pretty average teams who we should beat.

We need to stay healthy and then anything is possible.

I still think that if we make finals, our lack of experience will hurt us. But this season should be able to gaining that experience and carrying the momentum into the finals next year!

Just reading everyones predictions for the remainder of the season is giving me heart failure and the nervous poo's.
We need to win (Obviously) this weekend or the Port game will mean nothing.

HOW GOOD IS FOOTY!!!

so i just ran a finals predictor and had us losing the GWS game and that's it from here on out and assumed most of the games were relatively close with the exception of Brisbane @ the G and i came up with the wacky finish which has Sydney missing the 8 and the Hawks and Dogs getting there. Maybe I'm overrating Hawthorn but i put them down as a win against the Swans this week and tipped the Dogs over the Bombers for this weekend as well.

You've left out some games - some teams only played 21. Talk about uneven fixture!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
