Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes it is difficult to see how we can get top 4 but there is a good chance we will play Richmond in the first week which is almost the same as getting the double chance

True that.

Now wanting GWS to destroy them today. The idea of Richmond falling out of the 8 altogether is hilarious after they spent the first 7 or so rounds in the top 4 and their fans were once again thinking they were coming for the flag.

The meltdown would be of epic proportions and surely Hardwick would have to go.

Out of all the teams if we are playing an elimination final round 1 I would love to play the Tigers.  However if we sneak into 4th and we have Adelaide in Adelaide round one I would be really happy!!

Toiges do have the toughest draw of all the teams fighting for the 8.

If they make it they will have done well .... but I have them 9th :D

GWS are the wild card in the sense that they have all that talent but they are just scraping in , drawing or losing. I am beginning to think that they drafted very well for the run and carry game but not so well for the Bulldogs helter skelter game plan that is now in vogue. Much harder to own the corridor these days.

Now that Round 17 is over I just did a ladder predictor after round 18.

It isn't pretty. If next week's games go to order we end up 7th still with a log jam behind us.

The toss up game is Bulldogs v Bombers (the winner is 8th.. the loser 9th) For the rest I have picked the logical winner.

Looks like you definitely need 13 wins to make the 8.

I did the ladder predictor and gave us wins against north, lions and pies. That has us finishing 7th.

I think we're a good shot in the other two games so our destiny is in our hands. We'd have to stuff up to miss finals though

How is that not pretty?

If we fail to get to 13 wins I don't know which players were abducted by aliens but that would tell you we are pretenders.

We should beat NM, Bris, and Coll and I would be surprised if a healthy Demons side loses to the Saints at the G.

Forget other teams, we have it all in our grasp here.

round 18 is just a step in the road.....and the teams with who we're competing for a spot in the top 4 have games next week that they should win (possible exception is Sydney).   But they all face challenges after that (Tiges have Geelong at Simonds, Hawks on the G and Saints last round;  Port have Adelaide and the Dogs in Ballarat; Swans have Hawks on the G, Geelong at Simonds and Adelaide away; GWS have us in Canberra, Western Bulldogs at Etihad and Geelong in Simonds).

So the beauty of this rounds results are that there are now 2 spots going in the top 4 (at least, because the Cats may yet falter).  We need to win at least 4 of our remaining games and we'd be a very good chance for top 4.

'Relax, we've got this'

Roos and lions are the bottom sides on thr ladder because they are garbage. If we deserve finals we should also beat Pies and Saints.

Dare to dream

If we were to accept that we should now beat North, Lions and Pies given they're out of race and crap. So that leaves GWS in two weeks and Saints in three weeks.

Saints the easier of the two at this stage as will be at G and because it's more than likely that the Saints will lose to Port then Weagles prior to playing us, putting finals out of reach, and shifting their focus to sending off Saint Nick and blooding youth.

Which leaves GWS... Green likely suspended, but Coniglio likely in.

I am drooling at the prospect.

We'd all be ecstatic to make finals and play whoever, but god wouldn't it be nice to get those pretenders.

They haven't won a final since 2001 (lol) and we will make sure that pathetic streak continues.

They've won two finals games since 1982, same as Fitzroy.

Edit - also I'm fairly certain Melbourne and Richmond haven't played in the same finals series since 1940 when we defeated them for the premiership. This year should see that drought broken.

That has Richmond only dropping one game!? Carro must have had a say in this!

They have an easy run, Geelong in Geelong the only real tough one.

Port have an easy run too, only one more game away from Adelaide though they do have a showdown.

Everyone talks about GWS like they are certainties for top 4, top 2, the GF, the flag etc.

They've beaten one team in their last six games and that was Brisbane.

Their previous five wins were by a combined margin of 32 points.

They haven't beaten a good side since they beat Sydney in Round 5 (and at that point of the season Sydney was rubbish).

I reckon they're just going.

We're more than just an outside chance when we play them in a fortnight.

In some respects I'm more confident of winning that game than I am of beating North this week.

Is it worth starting a new thread?

Hypothetically, if you make the finals, who do you want as your week 1 opponent? Away and Home.

Watching West Coast Choke... If we got them week 1 at the G, that would be ideal. I don't mind playing Dons at the G either. Sydney will be last on most lists.

Definitely not Essendon. Our games with them for the last 5 years have been so unpredictable do not want that in the finals.

Give me Richmond please. Or Geelong if we sneak in top 4.

Totally agree. IF we have a fit list of Players (Gawn is Crucial) that are Mentally tuned in, we can beat any of the sides in front of us over the next 10 weeks.

This year is wide open...

Certainly not Dons at Etihad. I'm ok with them at the G though. I mean... whoever we take on they're gonna be handy. Best to keep it in Vic.

Yeah. Richmond, sure. But losing to them? If we did... and I'm not saying they're better... but if we did. Way more galling.

No way we lose to Richmond if we play them in September. Would put the house on it.

Exactly what I said before round 5. Tigers are terrible (and they are, I agree with you there).

And I DID put the house on it. lol

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
