Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I can understand the one week at a time line but if we can get beyond Carlton the weeks look brighter.

If we roll Carlton, we will play finals.

Would need to then win just 3 of the last 7 games to make it...  with Watts and Salem not far off coming in after (hopefully) Hogan and Garlett this week.

Just beat Carlton, which won't be an easy task,  and we are in a very good position.

Well .. here we are with a win .... perhaps not as easily as some of us might have wished but it was a win.

Well now it's Adelaide at my favourite ground... followed by Port at the MCG and North at the iceberg also known as Blundstone Arena.

An unholy trinity of games if ever there was one but not impossible as we move closer to the business end of the season. Win two ... or dare we dream... three and top four seriously beckons

St Kilda play the Toiges again which gives us a bump in that regard.

As well as us Port play the Saints and Adelaide together with a tricky game against the Doggies at Docklands.

The bottom half of the eight is well within our grasp but no reason we can't strive for top 4 as our injured players return.

Go Dees and PS.... would prefer the games to be a little easier than today's against Carlton !

I pretty much expected whichever way it would go it was going to be very scrappy and very tight.

This win can't be underestimated, many of our key players missing, and against a team that has been difficult to finish off this year. This win won't go down as big for the media people (they'll probably focus on Oliver's incident with the fan), but it's big for our year.

Just did some playing with the ladder predictor. (Great fun)

Applied relatively unemotional logic and I found it hard to see us finish above 5th.

GWS could easily slip below Geelong was an interesting outcome.

The big games for us are those against the Saints and Port. I assumed losses against the Giants and Adelaide.

Lose to the Saints and we are seventh. Lose to Port as well and we are in a log jam with 4 other teams on 12 wins for the last two spots in the eight.

Joy o Joy but I have Richmond at ninth on percentage

Boy this season is close

The good thing about this year is that because of the closeness of the competition you almost feel like every week is a big week. Upsets and close matches are happening so often that you have to bring it every week.

Indeed, but that of course assumes we beat North, as well as Brisbane and Collingwood.

I can see an argument which says we beat one of Adelaide or GWS but still manage to lose to North.

I'd like to see us win one of the Adelaide/Port games to take the pressure off the North game - if we lose both, we'll be on a 2 game losing streak and will have lost 3 from 4 going into that game, we'll be slipping down the ladder (if not already out of the 8) and the pressure will be right on us to win. Maybe that will spur us on to beat the Roos though.

Everyone seems to be writing off the GWS game, not sure why though.

They have an injury list as bad as, or even worse than ours, and they are just going at the moment. Unlikely they will reach their scary potential this season.

We should comfortably have Salem and Watts back by then, and Viney will be a big chance.  We can beat anyone, anywhere.

Yup. We have a 1-1 record against teams above us and a clean travel sheet. We've been dealing with key injuries all year, and the loss to Sydney was a clear product of fixturing. I understand the supporter apprehension with our inconsistent performances, but we have to get used to the idea that we're now competing with the top echelon of teams. It wasn't so long ago that we were bemoaning a couple of the unlucky losses - which, had the results been reversed, would see us on top of the ladder right now. Would we still be writing off the GWS game if that were the case?

Power have always been to quick for us. Always getting that extra number when they switch the ball. I am finding that they are hitting some good form.

Crows have stagnated a bit and have been found out.

Just a gut feel.

If we beat port I will say we will make it, if we lose I don't think we will as there will be no margin for error, biggest game in 15 years next week

port 70/30 there way, they are in good form and we have too many injuries

north 50/50 we just can't beat them for whatever reason 50/50 at best

GWS loss they will be way too slick

st kilda 50/50 depends which saints side shows up, they play the MCG Pretty good

Brisbane WIN If we can't win this then don't deserve finals anyway

Collingwood WIN Should have all our players back so if we can't win this then don't deserve finals

so we need minimum 3 wins out of those games and hope our percentage is enough to scrape us in 4 wins would guarantee a spot, going to be touch and go imo

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
