Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

what do posters think of garlett's tackle when the kickout player ran into him. was it really high or a bit soft. haven't had time to see it on replay

It was high due to the eagles player dropping his knees so it should have been a free to Jeffy.

In the vital last two minutes we were a team possessed. I compared it to an attacking army who by sheer persistence knocked down the castle wall to destroy the enemy. Eagles only had to force a behind and they may have cleared but we didn't give them the opportunity. This is such a brave group of young players who will take us to the top sooner than we think. Bravo my heroes!

Was as an impressive an effort from a key forward as I have seen in the red and blue for a while.  Lead well, kicked clutch goals and provided a presence up the ground as well.

The problem is that Hurn was more injured than Dangerfield was (not a criticism of Hurn, btw.).

Shuey was charged but it was careless with low impact to the head. That's a $1,500 sanction, down to $1,000 with a plea.

If Viney is charged, he might get careless and medium impact to the head. That's 2 matches down to 1 match with a plea.

The issue is whether or not Viney gets charged at al. Dale Thomas got off because the MRP said he was contesting the ball, therefore no reportable offence. If the MRP says Viney was contesting the ball, then he should be fine. Otherwise, he'll get a week (assuming it was "medium" impact as it forced Hurn from the field),

It was definitely a football act

I think most of us realise it was a fluke based on good luck and good circumstance - see my post above....

But I'm not sure what your point is? DOn't enjoy a win?

Loved the win. One of the most unreal in my 45+ years of supporting this club.

My point is though when the previously much-maligned defender Tom McDonald is kicking them straight like Dunstall, providing a focal point like Lockett and kicks the winning goal around his body like Betts. And does so with 20 seconds to go, and in Perth, if you don't mind, then perhaps it may be prudent to check what reality this is. I stepped in dog sh.it on the way to the car this morning so Im pretty sure we are OK.

It was a pleasure to wake up this morning and not have multiple reported posts to deal with. What a difference winning makes to the life of the admin team. If only my kids could take a leaf out of the behaviour of Demonlanders the morning after a win.

People actually report posts?

Harmesy was the only player to venture over to the Eagles members area where I was seated so I yelled as loud I could and he came over for man-hug. I said to him that "that was f'king epic" and he replied "yeah, it was a good win".

My wife walked into the front room where I was watching the game last night just as Plugger Mac kicked the winner. She looked at me strangely, as I was standing right in front of the TV shaking my fists in a more animated version of Goody. It took me a while to explain we'd just gone in front with 20 secs to go because I was panting quite hard.

she understood in the end, I think. Took me a while to wind down!

Mate it could of been worse for ur mrs if she walked in and u were panting for another reason!!!!!

Just as well we had such an experienced FF on him then :-)

They don't like you leaving the ground to bump when the player has the ball.

Viney jumped when the ball was in the air to get it.

Should come to nothing.

So 5 weeks.

FCS you are allowed to jump to contest a mark, aren't you?

Don't wanna be that cynical guy but it's hard not to. I'll be surprised if Viney gets through the weekend without being 'sighted'

I've watched the Viney/Hurn incident a number of times and I'm afraid he might cop a week or 2. His eyes were on the ball but I think the fact that he jumped and got air and then hit Hurn's head hard with his hip will cost him. Don't think a pirouette will save him this time.

If he is even reported it is a joke. He was going up in a marking contest, that's it. If he wasn't going for the ball then everything else you mention counts but it doesn't in a marking contest. If it did count then every screamer would be a free for to high to the bloke below.

No different to a marking contest I would have thought.  Jumped with eyes  on the ball and just jumped higher than Hurn.

How good was Maxy considering it was his first game back.

He definately exceeded my expectations that's for sure.

The AA selectors should hold off their decision until after ROund 23.

Half a season from Max is better than anything else in contention. Hes a superstar and yes he was awesome last night.

I was so wrapped up watching the game, I didn't read the game day thread - I haven't even gone back to it - was it worth a read?  I really don't like game day thread when we are losing and everyone is tearing into our players - what's this weeks game day thread like?

Well, my planned 3 month abstinence from beers failed last night but after completing early 8 weeks I'm not too disappointed with myself - particularly because I think a celebratory drink was justified. I did however manage to lose my wallet with my mates Eagles membership card in it which I haven't got around to telling him about yet.

The last minute was excellent given that I was surrounded by smug Eagles supporters listening to the radio saying "only 40 seconds left... only 21 seconds left now... bad luck mate". When Tmac kicked that goal I turned to the whole bay and went fecking nuts. One bloke called me a c$&t while giving me the finger which was nice. Probably in return for telling him earlier to cover up his hot chips in case 'Gaffy' jumped the fence.

Last night just reconfirmed to me that WC supporters are a bunch of sore losers.

This actually sounds like me every week haha. Great stuff, mate.

Nathan Jones (c), Jack Watts, Jesse Hogan missing. Salem, Garlett injured and restricting our interchange numbers. Umpires crucified us.

Yeah we were really lucky to win.

You must be a fantastic bloke to have a beer with...

I'd shout but the beer would be flat or something wrong with it

Jeffy assumed it was a free to him. As did the wc player i reckon. As everyone else did. Remarkable they paid for it too high given how many high tackles they let go these days - the hibberd one being a great example from last night.

The thing I really like about Hannan is that he is so quick to get his foot to the ball around goal and generally ends up being a goal.

Its a massive weapon to have cause the opposition don't have time to react.

No fair enough, I agree totally, we can't expect that every week. I wasn't sure what you were implying in your original post though....

All makes sense with a bit of context.

Disappointed that some Melbourne supporters are descending to the depths of Collingwood supporters in their attitude towards umpires.

I thought the umpiring was OK, and I just want to savour the win without appearing ungracious and acting like a nuffy.

I have seen some pathetic umpiring this year and I am quite vocal about it. Having watched the replay twice, well yes there were some glaring mistakes that we never got and they received the "normal home team frees". Frost about to deliver to the top of the goal square and was tripped that he fell, right in front of an umpire, had me shaking my head. In the bigger picture I wasn't too fussed with the umpiring. The intimidating booing CLEARLY influenced the umpires with some home decisions (and got goals). Head office says rubbish, but bulltish Gil. Fix it.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
