Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trading Brayshaw?

I usually tend to err on the side of "anyone is tradeable", but in this case I think player welfare is an overriding factor. I really don't think Angus needs the stress of a trade added to an already stressful life period.

Besides, we've already invested heavily in him as a player. We should allow that investment to play out now.

I wouldn't entertain the idea unless he came to the club and said he really wanted to go.

Buckenara is another ex player now commentator trying for click bait, headlines and to feed the radio programs discussion segments!

His article shows little insight into what we need and he just throws lots of on-baller names around.  He has very little credibility.

Re Gus:  A resounding No!

If you read the whole article, it's a little odd because he is saying we need a player with pace and skill that might be able to come off the HBF to work with Salem and Hunt.  Ok, thats a fair point,

So,...If you could use Brayshaw as part of a trade for Kelly, the club would jump at it, but I suspect that our 'untouchable' players would be needed to secure that deal with GWS. Johannisen... maybe I guess, but Pittard as a free agent, if we were serious about getting him... just offer the money and keep Brayshaw!

A little distasteful when players with injuries get used as tradebait IMO.

It's a bit like the Salem discussion of a year or so back.

Trade him now and what you get would be heavily discounted.

I hope the problem is manageable over time and therefore I say ... no trade.

But let's say Brisbane offered its second round pick  (number 19 I assume) ... you would have to think about it.

I highly doubt the club will be trading Brayshaw unless he wants to leave.

He is the perfect replacement for Vince, who will likely be finishing up at the end of next season.

The only issue ( looks at the big grey eared thing in corner of room ) is Vince can crash bang and come out other side ....

If any club offered what Buckenara suggested "If the Demons were offered a good deal would they look at it? My answer is yes. If a club offered a first-round pick and a second-round or a player as well, you’d consider that for sure, especially if the deal could help Melbourne secure a player they desperately needed"  then of course you'd look at it - but what club would offer anything like that for a player with Gus's unresolved concussion history

It would be a shite act to trade Gus anyway - unless he came to the club asking for a fresh start

Of Buckenara's trade targets for us are based on "The area of need is more outside runners who are quick, break the lines and are good ball users, particularly off halfback.".............. "In order of priority I would have Kelly, Johannisen, Pittard, Whitfield, Z. Jones, Smith in the hope of luring one to the club." Kelly would be amazing but getting him may involve selling the farm, Zac Jones would be a good fit but Johannisen & Pittard, while both great runners, butcher the pill. I doubt we need what Devon Smith brings (I consider him more a HFF than an outside mid) and Whitfield recently declared he wanted to stay at GWS for the duration of his career - which is a bummer as I'd love him at Melbourne.

I reckon we'll be backing Gus in

Welcome to a Victorian club Lacccchiiieee Whiiiittfield.....

Just on this, there is clearly a shift generationally to move away from being one club players and like any industry, going where you can prolong your career on the park, coupled with earning as much as you can in a short space of time that your career may ultimately be - just like ALL recent generations in other sector. Personally, we can use terms of 'lack of loyalty' or 'mercenary' - I think its great for the game and profoundly generates more interest.

The above quote attributed to Lachie, whilst it may be true, is ultimately meaningless from both parties perspective. And I think we will see less and less of players stating these absolutes.

Back to Gus...he aint no list clogger and if the support around him has been anything to go by, I can't see why he would want a fresh start elsewhere, considering he has barely started at MFC, so to speak.

Nev Jetta had a lot of concussion issues and seems to have overcome them.

And he crashes as much as the best of them!

I was reading an article about concussions which suggested younger people were generally more susceptible. Hoping as he matures it becomes less of an issue.

Time will tell though.

I think it would be fair to assume that Gus wants to be a big part of what we are building at the MFC.

Aside from that, he has no trade value right now, the concussion issues are all too real.

Buckenara is way off base on this one, .

Prior to the first bounce against Pt Adelaide in the preseason last year, his trade value was a top 3 pick, and even then he would have been considered 'untouchable'.  Some terrible luck, underdone preparation and concussion this year has seen his trade 'value' plummet.

Luck can change, fitness can improve and there's every chance he can move on from his concussion issues.  There's no way we'd get anywhere near his value in return and there's every chance he'll still become the player he showed he could be.

Would we get a player of Brayshaw's potential, with the pick we might get in exchange for him.

No.

Obviously.

His concussion issues would be 'priced' just as harshly by any other club as we might. The best value is in keeping him.

Particularly if you're looking for speedy players - speed is one of the few things you can evaluate clearly prior to drafting, and there's no harm in throwing around a few more late picks  in search of the next Jayden Hunt.

And let's be honest, you can never have too many tough, smart inside midfielders with good vision going inside 50.

In terms of business Brayshaw is a low sell right now. Not ready to be considered

We need to get him right for at least another season. If there are any more concussion issues he won't be tradeable, but that is a risk i think the MFC should take.

I'm just not enjoying this topic of discussion.

His 2015 season was fantastic and he's suffered injury since. A fit Brayshaw offers skill, outside run and contested ball.

Getting him fit and confident should be the only consideration for the MFC. Particularly when we've got he likes of Vince, Lewis and Jones fast approaching the end of their careers.

No one likes to have these conversations but they need to take place.

Everyone hopes for the happy ending but we have seen with JT this year that it does not always happen. In fact in a game that is all about inches it rarely happens.

Having been to a few VFL games this year it seems to me that they are scrappier with more packs than the AFL games. Just makes things harder.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
