Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

While the adoring Media keep talking/scribing bloody Selwood up as the bravest player to ever pull on the boots he will always be sacrosanct. Would also be good to put in public domain whether or not the MRP get any salary for their efforts or is this honorariums type dedication to their old teams/affiliations?

I loathe Selwood as much as the next guy and maybe my eyes aren't as good as they once were but the vision I've seen on this seems to show his forearm striking Mitchell's back and then sliding up to the back of his head.   I haven't endeavoured to do a frame by frame analysis though.  Did they grade it as high or to the body?

Not sure what the grading was but Scott went as far to say on 360, there is a difference between intentionally throwing an elbow to the back of the head and tripping over a players legs and bracing for the fall as the latter was the case for Selwood.

Laughable!!!

Not that I like that kind of stuff, but Bugg knew exactly what he was doing and sucked Easton Wood into it big time...

Agreed, I don't like seeing it but did laugh when he ran to the top of the square (so he would get an easy shot), then looked over his shoulder waiting for the hit to come. Sneaky little bugger.

I must admit Chris, i thought that moment was not so much as being a pivotal moment, than more as being capitulation by Footscray as being completely done over then. ie beaten

Interestingly the Sunday Sessions podcast for last Sunday where Nathan Burke said about trying to get all players off has not appeared. Wonder if AFL House did not want those statements being able to be heard again. Cat definitely let out of bag.

I still don't understand how the sentence for elbowing someone in the head ( Selwood) or punching someone in the kidneys (Reiwoldt) is exactly the same as for wrestling with someone ( Jetta). i.e $1,000.

Because you didn't factor in the famous player/big club discount.

The title of this thread is wrong, its not a farce, its a disgrace.

It would be a little bit awkward for Bartel to suspend Selwood then play golf with him during the week.

Rance was found to be staging but not "excessively" staging....what an effing joke

Does "excessive" staging require costumes and make up??

But wait....the incorruptible AFL will now be looking out for a test case, so Demons beware, don't even stage mildly or you will cop a 4 down to 3.

After the remarks on this site, i'm now thinking that there is not much chance of getting a fair deal this Sunday. And i had my hopes set so high for another great win.

The Carlton doctors strike again:

"RICHMOND defender Bachar Houli has been sent straight to the Tribunal for his strike on Carlton's Jed Lamb after the Match Review Panel graded the hit as intentional and high impact...with a medical report from Carlton crucial in the finding against the Tigers defender".

The hit on Lamb looked pretty serious so the MRP probably reached the right decision.

But can't help feel that the Carlton medical reports in this case and those on Hogan and Lewis are sending a message that any opp player that dares touch a blue boy will find themselves out on a limb.

The problem being what exactly? Surely Carlton's obligation is do the right thing by their players, not help out Houli after his thug act. Hogan & Lewis both deserved to be suspended, and Houli deserves a long holiday.

We should demand independent doctors officiate in our next game against Carlton.

Yes... immediately noticed the all but 'subject to Calscums doctors' effect.

Am learning a new level of despision for these cheats.

IF the MRP / tribunal system was ever going to be at all independent and professional, they would instigate independent medical reports in relevant cases.

SO, won't happen.

I was furious at the time with our penalties, but more because of the fact that the penalty is tied to the consequence and not the action.  However, with time to reflect, footy's got a long tradition of covering up thug acts.  Players saying they were fine, didn't hurt etc with hand on heart, club doctors understating the impact, resulting in light or no penalties.

If club doctors start being honest about the impact of these actions, and it results in players getting harsher penalties (with the AFL's stupid system) it might - *gasp* - make the players think twice before punching each other in the head.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
