Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So I take it you were all over the constant Omac and Bugg out then?

JKH sent back to Casey to work on his game, read Plapp's reports

It beggars belief stiil on this forum that postrrs think a player can't improve

Not sure who or what rattled your cage but two things are clear: a) clearly quantity doesn't always mean you should expect quality. In posts that is..... and b) you should read before quoting others in future.

I stand by my comment wholeheartedly - I am aware JKH has been playing well in the 2's but in my opinion is not up to the quality of football we have played the last 2 weeks. And I hope he's not picked.

Jones and Watts will both play is my prediction. Jones looked like a corky in the collision with Lin Jong and Watts had a little hammy tightness - said he was fine.

Gawn to replace ANB and Stretch to replace Harmes who looked shot. And certainly Stretch if Hunt doesn't come up.

Watts yes, Jones won't play.

We are the number one side for pressure acts in the competition and the 3 main contributors are Viney, Oliver and ANB - I can't see Nibbler being dropped any time soon for this reason,

This is true, Nibbler has been good in this respect. But he doesn't seem to be doing enough when he gets his hands on the ball. He's actually seeing enough of it, but they seem like nothing possessions.

I wouldn't be shocked if he's omitted (unluckily). JHK went to the VFL after his games earlier this year were just nothing performances, since then he's been showing some consistent form. He will be given another crack at some point but I'd be cautious about bringing him in for this one.

The last time we played a game without Nathan Jones was round 5, 2012. We were 0-4 at that stage and went on to lose our first 9 games that year

In: Gawn

Out: Jones

Trac, Tyson and Lewis to step up and get extra midfield minutes

Jones injury aside, I think Mark Neeld had a bit to do with that win-loss record.

I keep reading in this thread about the concern of a "long trip to WA". I hope it's only supporters who even think that it's a concern. West Coast and Freo cope with this "long trip" every two weeks or so. If they can do it, we can do it. And we only have to do it a couple of times per season. If our team's mindset is somehow compromised by this concern then we're not yet ready to be a power club.

ANB actually reminds me a little of Jones in he's first 2 or 3 years, he managed to get a bit of it but his disposal was a little off or not that damaging. The difference is Jones was played predominantly in the middle from very early on, I think Nibblers best position will be in and under long term, but he's being given a more suitable introduction to footy.

Maybe if Jones is out, he's one to get into the middle more?

All this talk of Gawn back this week.  He should go back to Casey and fight for his spot in the side like everyone else - his replacementson Pedo and T Mac are getting the job done at the moment:

Hilarious. You may want to listen to Jack Viney's thoughts on the value Max will bring and maybe contemplate recent hitout stats... and why they're useful.

Forget the champion data stats.

My eyes told me we could have done with Gawn against Collingwood, particularly in the first half...

Well, the post was written with my tongue firmly planted in cheek, so glad you got a giggle out of it.  Gawn's ability to put it down the throat of our on ball brigade will be most welcome and perhaps if Jones is 50/50, it may be a good motivation to get him over the line.

What I do think it provides us with is a good opertunity to ease Gawn back into the main role.  Perhaps it could also be used somewhat tacticly to wear down the opposition ruck and use Gawn to full effect when we need him most.

I'm glad there was jest, and you're right about them doing so well that we have options to ease him in. Be harder when Jesse back, but Pedos is playing inspired bullish footy... it's very good.

If watts was rested (i.e. with sydney match in focus the week after), then our forward line would be Pedo and Tmac as the talls. I don't mind that given they are both in such good form.

Anyone heard if Kennedy is back for them? really hoping not.

Kennedy is a doubtful starter... I'nm not that fussed even if he shows up . He will be very undercooked if so.

Pedo can be that tall up fwd ..can also wax with Max..hardly an unfortunate situation imho.

Is there still noone predicting the Trengove for Jones smokey?

The way Trengove has been handled i would say he will be named emergency and make thr trip but not play.

i think jones will be replaced by stretch seems he's the one that comes in and out of the side and has played some good footy at times. I wouldn't mind Trengove for experience and composure with the ball but don't think he will play.

JKH is a lock given how he's played over the past few weeks at Casey. He will replace Nathan Jones (rested/groin whatever)

Max Gawn's selection has already been announced. Dees will play it safe with Jack Watts (rested/hammy whatever)

Billy Stretch and Josh Wagner are chances as well for two others to be rested or whatever.

Wagner has to play before JKH.

One thing about Goody, he swings changes you don't see coming VERY often. Crazy things like Spencer AND Gawn in wouldn't surprise me at this stage. I do reckon he has a thing for JKH. And given the amount of ball he's winning and how he's running out games, I daresay he'll like those young legs in Subi. The Trengove one is a long shot... but I reckon, using reason (which might be useless from my perspective, given Goody has done some wacky things), our greatest strength is clearances and contested possessions. We get slower, a lot slower, with Trenners in there... But in terms of role, there's noone that's like-for-like in the same was Trengove is. Stretch is smaller, quicker and more outside. Likewise JKH. Kent's not inside. Trengove is more mature, and can be given the job of curtailing Priddis, who won't humiliate him on the run. I think I'm reaching, but it's not ridiculous the concept of Trengove playing. Put it this way... if Jones AND, say, one of Oliver, Tyson or Viney couldn't play... then I reckon it would see Trengove in. But that's basically the only circumstance. With that in mind... Like I say... My heart goes with Trengove.

Massive difference between a hamstring strain and tightness. I'll go with the latter based off the way he jogged off the ground.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
