Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Body of work this year for Watts has been tremendous - yet again today in clutch moments he delivers... he is silk, and will be the reason we win a premiership, both during the season and on the day.

I'VE LOST COUNT OF THE NUMBER OF TIMES I'VE WATCHED THE REPLAYS AND NOTED HIS SILKY SKILLS, MOST OF WHICH HAVE GONE UN-NOTICED BY COMMENTATORS.

I actually think the Bulldogs came to play early, and we just blew them away with aggression and good footy.

We've smashed both the reigning premiers and the flag favourites on their home turfs this season without our 2 most important KPPs. That's pretty impressive.

Garlett should have had another bag of 5 today.  Lock him in for his first 50 goal season.  Can't believe his turnaround in form this year.

I can believe it, I thought last year he was due but it didn't eventuate. Always had it in him.

On a side note, what percentage of his goals at Melbourne have been kicked from inside the goal square? I would say it's almost 90%.

I must admit, I did feel like they had their hands on the ball for most of the first quarter. Our work off the ball to transition into defence was a thing of beauty. Long may it continue!

Been feeling all year that we've been on the verge of being a good team.  Could we have just crossed the line?

That win last weekend felt like a turning point IMO. On the siren, having 'gotten away with one' as it were, they are the games a full strength Richmond lose and they're currently sitting 6th. So it says a bit about our side.

I reckon Jones corked his quad in the smother that busted Lin Jong's ACL. He played for two more quarters and then went off as a precaution....Should play next week.

Well said Danelska. Watts doesn't always win his own ball and has copped some flack for that over the years but the reality is he has superb hands and is one of the best kicks in the competition.

If Jack had been playing for Hawthorn instead of Gunston over the last few years he would have kicked 70 goals a year, now in a competitive side we are seeing his real worth. Jack could have ran away but he has stood his ground and now is showing what he can really do and it is great to watch.

Bugg has been great the last month, despite the goal kicking a few weeks ago over two matches he's doing everything required.

He's can be an absolutely annoying [censored] head, but he's our absolutey annoying [censored] head, so I'm happy to hear oppo fans complain about him.

Runs hard, put's pressure on and now has stepped up to kick goals. No way we should drop him.

I don't understand these sentiments.  It was ALL deserved.

Produce crap, expect crap.  Produce great performances and expect plaudits.

That's how it works.  That's life.

I hate victimhood mentalities.

You obviously don't listen to Carey especially on AFL.com previewing the rounds games nothing ever gd comes out of his mouth about the Dees plus on talking footy. I know what I've heard no victim hood here.

In fairness I would say around the ground and in some key statistics they were probably at least even but didn't get reward for effort. Much of the first half was played in their half of the ground but it was when we were able to break free that we were most damaging.

On the turnaround when they got free they made errors in judgement and didn't spot up teammates. It made it easy pickings for Hibberd who was fantastic again.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they were on top of us but they weren't being destroyed as the shoreline suggested, in fact in reminded me a bit of the Gold Coast game. The difference is that we stepped up our pressure in the second half and they wilted.

One of my favourite moments of today was seeing the look of joy and causal confidence on watts face when he kicked that goal at half time.

It was a huge goal for us I think to stop a momentum shift and the fact he just went back and slotted it no fuss was just so good the see. I think he's a good barometer to watch for the club - the fact jack is so comfortable in his own skin shows just how comfortable and quietly confident the rest of the team is as a unit.

He's in the "really dangerous player category now"

Bugg plays for the free, before the opening bounce was happy to hit the ground hard and offers up his back to the numnuts. Wood fell for it after hannan goal

That was the performance we have threatened to have all year, our only 4 quarter performance thus far.

Some great performances...

Hibberd - what a pick up

Salem - I honestly think he is the most underrated player at the club. Many think he is decent, but I rate him higher than that.

OMac - was great last week after quarter time, and was great again today

Salem's been one of my favourites since his debut against the Swans. He showed a physical aggression as well as skill to make me think we had a good one on our hands. Great to see what he's been able to put together this year withour the thyroid/concussion issues hanging over his head

Yes at the game I was wondering what the % time in possession was around half time. No such stats at Etihad. The dogs had a lot of the ball in their front half but we were relentless in our defencive work, they just couldn't score. Still pinching myself about how intense we were at the contest. Never seen it before at this level for consecutive games.

Keep that intensity up and we will take some beating.

They scored their first goal with 7m left in the second quarter. I understand what you are saying but they were being smashed despite what the stats say...

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
