Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nearly passed out screaming at the Watts goal which happened right in front of me.

Same.

I wont recount what I screamed as Watts ran in to kick that final goal today but I can assure you it was a cathartic moment that has been 8 years coming since I watched him get ragdolled on debut.

Now we just need to bury Collingwood in a grand final and for me the circle will be complete.

Btw... what's the go with March ??

I would imagine post MATCH fumbling fingers!

Does anyone have any pictures of the Walk to the G today? How did the turn out compare with previous years, is it on the up? I remember the first one, it was at one of the lowest points of the club. Might be one of the few positive enduring legacies from that era.

To all those in this thread going on about the umpiring I recommend you go back and watch these moments:

Early last qtr Collingwood (Howe?) player takes possession at the top of our goalsquare runs, does a don't argue, gets tackled, tries to kick, misses ball, definite holding the ball to Melbourne, not paid, certain goal missed.

Treloar taken by Viney in a tackle drops ball on ground, no disposal, HTB missed, picked up by Collingwood goes inside for Collingwood goal.

Levi Greenwood drops a mark in the centre square, not infringed, tackled properly by Viney, ball heading forward for Melbourne, either the dropped mark or a free paid and a FIFTY paid to Collingwood. Pies score when Dees would've had a certain score.

First quarter Watts taken out in a marking contest on the Wing, pies player takes the ball while Scharenberg barrels him over with what looked like a tackle in a marking contest without his eyes on the ball. Pies goal, no free for Melbourne.

There were many other holding the ball frees missed for us, soft high tackles paid to them at crucial moments and many other moments.

The Hibberd and Hunt ones should've been HTB, but they missed plenty to us as well. Also both managed to hit the ball so the argument is whether they threw it first and that has barely been paid for 5 weeks. Should've been HTB and we got the rub of the green on those two but so did they, many times, especially in the first half.

It was a magnificent gutsy win and to claim the umpires won it for us is ludicrous.

great game Dees! Being on Gawn, Hogan and the doggies!!!

Edit: Not to mention Oscar perfectly bodying a contested mark on the wing to have it reversed then a pies player does the exact same thing in our forward fifty.. NO FREE!!

Hibberd one in the middle was a handpass, clear as day.

We were very fumbly and wasteful going inside 50 today. Would kill for someone like a pendlebury or sidebottom to deliver inside our 50

I love Hunt, he's got great dash and flash, but he has to start lowering his eyes. I reckon he had about 5 inside 50s and none of them were to our advantage (I think Watts got a goal from one for a hold). It looks fantastic and if we have a one out FF like Hogan then great but we didn't today and often they went straight to a 3 on 2 at best. He wasn't the only one but I think he was a serial offender.

Great win.

I have not missed seeing a QB match live for years but had to this weekend as i had to go away for a basketball tournament. Got back just in time to watch it on TV.

I never go on DL during a match, usually because i'm at the game, but stupidly did so today at the end of the fist quarter, albeit very briefly. Predicable bagging of Omac for his two errors blind clearing the ball with rushed kicks from deep inside 50 (on his left foot both times interestingly). No mention at all of his other excellent defensive efforts in the quarter. An i wonder if there were comments about the defensive errors by Salem and Frost x 2 that cost us goals. Or the woeful kick inside 50 by Trac that cost us an easy goal. Or later in the game the three other times in the game we blindly kicked it from deep inside our 50 (Jones, Lewis and someone else) that didn't come back purely because of luck (one of those times because of a brilliant spoil from TMac halved a contest he should have lost)

I had to laugh because at one point Omac took a defensive pack mark and one of the bone headed commentators said it 'fell it into his lap'. Not geez, he read it well, unlike the other players flying for it. I wondered if DL had somehow infiltrated the commentary box such was the obvious confirmation bias.

Omac was excellent today. As i have said many times i acknowledge his weaknesses but some of the comments on this site about him not being up to AFL standard, wouldn't get a game in any other team, woeful, etc etc are so of the mark they border on weird. As i have also said many times the coaching team keep picking him and that can only mean one thing. They rate him.

Actually two things. Those that say he should not be in the side  because he is not up to it are wrong. Plain wrong. They had the opportunity to drop him this week by bringing in Spencer (or Wagner for that matter). Many argued they should have. A season defining game with a top 8 position on the line. With only one big forward in the magpie side. But they didn't. What does that say about how highly they rate OMac?

And OMac repaid that faith and proved his knockers wrong.   And by by the by may he miss next week because he hurt his abductor near the end of the 3rd or near the start of the last and played the rest of the game under severe duress.

Technically a throw I think. The ball bobbled in the air then he punched it.

It was about three inches above his hand. If you pay that on a technicality then 100 frees would be paid a quarter

Just went to the Collingwood big Footy post-mortem thread. Highly entertaining !  I thought I would make a small, sensitive comment for their edification.   I said " Collingwood played well today. They were just outclassed."

They have taken in good spirits. Except the one who replied " **** off back to the snow muppet "  ⛷

actually on a scale of 1-10 it wasn't too bad....... I think MFCSS kicked in well and truly during the second quarter but only one.... "I'm out of here" just before we kicked a goal to start the turn around

That goal was almost instantaneous!!!

Agree with much of this, binman.  The only error that made me cringe was his wild kick in the first term when I thought he lacked a little composure, but his next three quarters were terrific.  Took some good marks and made some excellent spoils as well.  He no doubt has a future at the club, it's just a shame he has been potted so much that at this point everyone jumps on board when he makes a mistake.

I sat behind the interchange bench today.  After Watts kicked that great goal time on in last qtr, he ran to the bench.  Mission waved him away and indicated to go to the backline.  2 minutes later he made a crucial save touching the ball on the line.  In a 4 point victory he literally saved us in the dying minutes - twice.

I must have been sitting near Nash, Punt Rd end pocket. Crowd 70,926. Good turnout given grey skies. I agree with the commentary on the umpires missing frees both ways - I don't recall an in the back free at all, and there were plenty that I saw from Row O.

Few moments looking at the game through fingers - Tom Mac kicking for goal at qtr time (nicely done!), Tom Bugg shooting for goal in the 2nd (poster, FMD!!!), all the turnovers in the second (even Salem, what IS going on???), Tom Bugg free in the third (putting my hands up to my eyes, and he played on!!! Nice goal, Buggy).

Hannans second effort after he barrelled Dunny was immense - this is something the coaches need to show at least half a dozen times in reviews. Super effort.

And finally, 3 votes Mr. Cool as a cucumber Jack Watts. Your composure to nail the match winning goal was exactly what constituted the difference between the teams today.

Hope you enjoyed the game @Bombay Airconditioning

I agree biff, then promptly made a turnover from memory. Some Filth d1ckhds were waxing lyrical about Howe behind me, i almost pitied them.

Nah I let everyone know about "typical Howe mark of the year then turns it over"

I was absolutely surrounded by ferals in the AFL members today, one threatened to hit me, another elderly gent was cracking the sads on the way out having a go at me while I belted out the song at the top of my lungs. Took me back to the good ol days.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
