Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 11

Melbourne only like it when the heat is off..........Familiar scenario again this year........When the other team brings pressure Melbourne crumble.

Like how we fought back against Adelaide, or worked our way back into the game a fortnight ago?

If anything we prefer the heat being on - when we're favourites we struggle.

Our high zone does not work at the MCG. This cannot be disputed. We get caught out on the switch badly and our midfield just can't cover the ground enough to get back and help the defense. Really disappointing half of football. Leaders and coaches need to fire up and earn their pay now. A loss to another team below us with a top 8 spot on the line is unacceptable.

Need to fix the contest. We are getting belted out of the middle.

Time to drag the leaders aside and give them a spray.

This sums it up completely

The players spent the whole week talking about not bombing it long because they have dangerous intercept players. And the players have ignored it and 95% of the inside 50s have been bombed. What can goody do if the players don't listen??

Why do we persist with TMAC up forward? It worked once nearly 2 months ago, it hasn't since. Stupid stupid stupid.

Our mids have been pathetic, don't want it enough, our backs panic too much and just kick in hope, and our forwards don't even look interested. BTW great idea to take Petracca off the ground straight after he kicked a goal, then to only have him come back on 40 seconds later.

At the moment we don't know what to do off-field, just as much as on-field.

Vince is finished, Lewis obviously came here to fill up his retirement fund and Salem is very very soft.

And can we please for the love of god move Vince to Sidebottom. He isn't doing any good in the back-line and Sidebottom is just cutting us up at will.

We didn't get rid of him, he asked to leave.  Not much you can do about that.

Not correct. He just wanted some more money and we pushed him out.

And to not be able to win at the G is inexcusable!!!!

Is anyone else as concerned about this as me? 1 game this year. Not good enough and our game plan is clearly not holding up on this big ground.

God help us when we go to Subi!

We beat Adelaide so that excuses everything.

Shuffled back here to say we're still in it.

Yeah, we've been poor.  No one would argue that.  But Goodwin has shown that he can swing the changes and motivate the side to get themselves back in it.  This game is far from over... I hope...

Totally agree, we have won from much further behind than this. We're playing poorly and stil in it. Collingwood have been average in last halfs this season, we have been great. We've got this

Viney is co captain and needs to show some leadership. We should be 10 goals down.

If I were Goody Id drop the next person who handballs to someone with a pies player next to them.

Well the bottom line is: this is our season on the line today.

Lets see if this mob has any ticker  and do Neale Daniher proud.

Harmes, Bugg, Hannan almost invisible, and ANB with 14 disposals but at 43% efficiency. Alongside that, the majority of the team with under 10 possessions, including Viney, Watts and Lewis. If we lose this, only ourselves to blame, especially when Collingwood have come to play.

This year still a step too far I fear, though no Hogan (it shouldn't be just for Garlett and Petracca, and Tom MacDonald is not a KPF) and no Max are having major negative ramifications on our structures and overall game plan.

Certainly the worst we've played this year.

Our better players have struggled to be clean and have looked off most of the day.

Our forwards have laid 8 tackles (11 if you include Tommy Mac who has played some time in the ruck). Bugg and Garlett are yet to lay a tackle.

Can't see us winning this. We haven't lost the disposal count like this all year.

Agree with your sentiment. Especially the press.

Would like to see the boya fire up but sadly from ehat I've seen we are not a finals side IMO

Were too sloppy with the ball and no tall forwards/ruck is killing us.

We're not a bad side but we're not a god one either. Happy to be proven wrong in the aecond half

It's nothing to do with having ticker, it's all about smarts, skill and execution under pressure.

Missed the opportunity of not playing Spencer. I understand he is underdone but structurally it would have completely straighten us up.

I don't think so 'dazzle', he was out of touch in the Casey game (missed too much footy) and Grundy would have torn him to pieces.

Grundy was always going to be a problem with Max out...their mids are getting a free ride from Grundy and our poor performing on ballers.

Lets see if Oliver & Viney can stand up in the 2nd half, if not we're done.

We're being beaten on the inside and the outside as well as 'teeing up' mark of the year kicks to Jeremy Howe. Only way I can see out of this is more tackling pressure and running it more out of the backline - admittedly the latter is very high risk.

Beg to differ. The handballing is part of players not taking any responsibility at times.

This game is also highlighting that we need another key forward to go with Hogan. We need to target someone like Sam Reid.

Pedo would be good up there.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
