Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Rohan, Tippett & Reid

Have a very good source at the Swans and let me assure you that these 3 are gone at end of the year.  Swans want them out at almost any price.

Josh Kennedy has had a big blue with Tippett over his lack of physicality. All came to a head against Hawks when big Kurt was the only player that didn't buy into the crash into Luke Hodge at every opportunity strategy.  Not only wouldn't do it but criticised it as a strategy.

Playing group has lost trust in Rohan, some even call him Whiskas.

They've also come to conclusion that Reid is more of a distraction and sick of him not being able to complete games

It's easy to be seduced by all 3 as at their best they all have what we need but each represent a significant risk.  I guess it depends on what you'd have to trade and pay

Gary Rohan reminds me very much of Jayden Hunt.

Apart from the fact that Hunt attacks the contest like a maniac, and the fact that he got knocked T.F.O running head first into the biggest guy on the field to offer defensive pressure, hit the ground face first like he had been shot through the head, but played the following week, whereas Rohan would have feigned a tackle after shortening his steps, and then missed 6 weeks with a torn hammy.

Exactly, Rohan is one of the most, overrated, least talented players I've seen, he's fast but it stops there. I just cannot understand all the love for him on here and some posters who should know better, are his biggest fans.

He's averaged 10 possessions a game over his entire 7.5 seasons and has kicked less than a goal a game, just what does he do, other than miss simple mark's and throw in the occasional tackle. We'd be calling for his blood if he played for us the way he's performed for the Swans.

He can run fast but apart from the fact he's run down a few players, he's no better than Blease and I'm amazed he's stayed on the list for so long, in fact I think they were trying to offload him last year.

He is a dud.

As for Tippett, no thanks, he's tall and that's about it.

Rohan is phenomenally overrated. Yes, his one good game a year is very good, but he is also good for at least 10 absolute shockers and a couple of injuries alongside that.

Reid could fill a need, but I suspect his value has been inflated to the point where he is no longer a viable option. I'd rather throw $600K at a midfielder then Reid.

Tippett is the interesting one for me. I suspect Sydney would be prepared to take a massive hit to get him off the books, and there would probably not be much interest in him from other clubs. At $800K+ a year he needs to be a star each week, at $500K he just needs to do his bit.

Tippett is nothing like  $800k this year. His contract was very front loaded.  He's finished at the Swans it all depends on what his new Club wants to pay. I suspect Lions will lure him home to Qld particularly if they lose that young forward.

He re-signed. They have Schache and Hipworth as kpf's

The Lions may still be interested given that those 2 are so young & developing.

Some Clubs will be interested purely because he is 200 cm and can play forward/ruck.

I'd rather him than Spencer but you'd need to give him a thorough physical and really determine if there is still a desire to compete.

Spoke to the most passionate (and possibly the most knowledgeable) Swans fan I've ever met at the Swans v Dogs game last night.

He seriously rates Reid. Reckons he has the best hands in the league. Said he'd be very surprised if the Swans were to let him go. This bloke was in the Swans coterie - seemed more connected than the average fan on the street (i.e. he knew the players' names and didn't yell out nice 'catch' etc).

Ktip is the best example of looks like Tarzan plays like Jane (I really hope there are no awesome Janes in the AFLW, can I even use this expression anymore???) Spencer on the other hand ... well he would rip out another players' heart and eat it if told to do so he is fierce. While he is improving slowly he is improving, I reckon there would be no benefit in a swap. Honestly it would be like the Hawks taking Vickery.

Tippett has huge talent but he seems to be lumbering nowadays; feel he's past it.

Rohan is 'Sam Blease if he'd been drafted by a better team'.  Has speed but not the smarts to find enough of the ball.

Reid is a gun.  While he'd be pricey, I would take him in a heartbeat.

This is going slightly off topic, and not sure whether this should be started in a new thread, but Jack Gunston hasn't ruled out being traded (or open to it) at seasons end.

What are people's thoughts on going after him, and what would it cost?

He's quite similar to Jack Watts in build (193cm, 87kg) and is only 25.  Could potentially allow us to have a very mobile forward line in Watts, Gunston and Hogan with Watts pinch-hitting in the ruck.  Yes he's having a down year, however he's scored 50+ goals over the last 3 seasons.

Would allow Weid to develop in the 2s for another couple of seasons before bringing him in.  Just a thought.

Not adverse to this at all... would come down to 'costs'

If we are indeed looking to go more mobile that extra tall, bears considering.

IMO not a need when we have Watts and Hannan

Gunstan would be a great pick up IMO. He is a very good player who can play tall and small and he would fit into any forward structure.

Reid was in ripping marking form last night. Clunked 5 contested marks in the first half! If we can get him cheap (e.g. Not 700-800k) then he'd be perfect second tall forward to pair with Hogan and give relief in ruck.

Wonder how he'd travel in a decent team ?

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
