Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Queens birthday Facts:

Pies

-back from travel to WA,

-2 huge outs, 2 more possible,

Dees

fresh after the bye

- possible return of Hogan or even Gawn

Both teams

- season defining game

- spot in the 8 on the line

blah, blah, blah, I can see a humiliating loss.

hope I'm very, very wrong

Dame, looking at those facts, I can only congratulate you on your vision.

Based on our form this season, we are a monty to lose this game, when in fact based on the ability we have shown in many games, we should win by 40.

70,000 fans screaming the young Dees to an inspiring win could be a catalyst to snap us out of our schizophrenic behaviour.

I'm going to put something else on the agenda, the gate receipts from QB. Every year we get them, it's a fantastic boon to our income but I want to see us sharing them in the future or alternating them as we do with Richmond. I say this because I'm sick of hearing Pies fans and stakeholders hanging it over us as if it's some kind of charitable donation. Of course they forget that they get all the best time slots and blockbuster games anyway.

Still, we are almost at a point where we are financially independent of the AFL and once we get to a satisfactory financial position I'd like us share these receipts so then we are in nobody's pocket.

Interested to get other thoughts though.

Demons11 sorry for trying to have a sense of humour, when you have supported this club fof yonks and have only witnessed one flag you tend to go "batty". Our course I was aware of our win/loss history this year.

The MCC is already sold out on Level 1, so I'm getting there when the gates open just to get a bloody decent seat. You pay your $700+ for a membership and you struggle to get a seat. Ridiculous.

No... to expand NO! Love taking the cash and listening to Eddie bleat. It may be unfortunate in the future to get less revenue because less Woods supporters show up due to our relative ladder positions but I want it all... smash'em and take their money.

The few intelligent Pies supporters I know just wish he would shut up. They find his comments cringe worthy.

We have done well without a ruckman. I'd be interested, to see if these figures were available quarter by quarter - I've had a bit of a look but not been able to find them.

I'm just wondering if we burst of of the blocks then as we tire a little, a ruckman could come in very handy in the last to nullify easy clearances? Collingwood seemed to take it very easy out of the middle in the last quarter against Freo, and I think their mids have a bit better stamina than ours (not saying their better, but they have more experience, so more miles in the legs).

To steal someone else's thoughts, I would also like to see the figures broken down by qtrs as I suspect no matter how much vision is watched and how many plans are laid, it is not until the Midfield get out on the ground that they adjust to the opposition ruck taps. We eventually get on top but it's that time for adjustment that's delaying our starts. Must be much easier knowing where the ball is going the majority of the time.

Oh and I'm not sure this has been posted but this will be a welcome sight very soon and yes, I'm pretty sure this was today.

According to Lewis as mentioned in the Age: "He told Fairfax Media the game would have a finals-like feel."

it may be a true statement, but not the wisest choice of words given it's the QB game.

The ANZAC Eve game is as big on the calendar now. The significance of QB is not as great as it once was. Clearly a big game though with both teams 5 and 5.

Magpies are 5-6

They are also a rubbish team. Yeah they've won three straight, against three  teams equally as crap as them

We will belt them

Geez not a good omen but all teams so far that have come off the bye have lost.

Hope we change that trend.

You mean Port who played Geelong in Geelong and lost by 2 points and Gold Coast who made us look very 2nd rate for 2 and a half quarters?

I wouldn't be surprised now with all this latest information shaking the very roots of this Traditional big game that Melbourne will make many changes. I'm including Spencer and Gawn, together with Hogan, Maynard and Salem.

I also have a sneaky feeling in my bones (the ones that the wind used to blow through after hard games) that Hibberd will play on, near or around poor Adams.....

I hate talking about line in the sand or season defining etc. but after Adams comments we need to smash them.

We are an unsuccessful club. There is no denying that.  But it means he was rubbishing the 22 players who pull on the jumper on Monday.  And to get rubbished twice in the media by a player who has never played finals and who is currently playing at a mediocre club with question marks over it's coaching future is embarrassing.  If Adams says it, he thinks it; if he thinks it, other players do too.

I hate to say it, but this actually becomes club defining. If not specifically this game - because lets face it, if wee loose tomorrow then win 6 in a row it will mean something too - the this general time period.

That's why you put your hand in your pocket and pay 400+ a year for a reserved seat in the Melbourne Football Club members.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
