Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bunch of 15 year old kids so I wouldn't trust them. Plus I get the feeling that they're Melbourne supporters so are probably just stirring the pot.

They come up with some good memes though.

Why is he called Purple?

Because that's the colour he turns whilst choking on all the rubbish he regurgitates in the media.

FWIW, I don't think Tippet is a spud. A mercenary and a bonehead sure, but not exactly a spud. His first half of last season was of a good standard and probably had him as 3rd best ruckman in the league in that period behind Max and Goldstein. He also chipped in with 20 goals or so in that period, so kicked roughly 2 goals a week while playing ruck. Then he got injured and couldn't recapture that form over the 4-5 weeks left in the season.
He kicked 44 goals in 2015 rotating forward and ruck, so nearly the same output as Hogan at his best, but while rotating in the ruck. He's definitely struggled this season, as have most of his teammates. As he's older now, if he didn't cost us much he'd be good for us structurally. He'd provide the perfect second ruck/tall forward we're currently in need of for a few years as we push into finals. As long as we didn't have to pay him much or give up much there isn't much to lose. Gives Weiderman more time to develop in the VFL too without the pressure of playing AFL when he isn't ready physically and/or mentally.

Personally don't want Kurt spud Tippert anywhere near the Dees..  except  when playing the Swannies

Can't believe anyone here would actually entertain the thought.

Would take Tippett for fourth round pick and Swans paying half his $800k a year salary next year

As others have said his form pre-injury last year was superb, and he was rushed back for finals

There's been some talk that the swans would be happy with a 3rd/4th plus paying some salary, which would then help them keep Jones and Reid. But originally he wanted to go home (he's from Qld) then turned up to Sydney for the money. We've been burnt by a similar situation before, so would stay clear.

We should just offer a nice deal to Zak Jones And forget k tip. Maybe bring in a third tall like gunston and keep omac defending in vfl as depth. Tmac and Watts back up ruck, Spencer still ruck depth.

If no club bites on k tip, then maybe it frees up Zak Jones. So maybe the Swans are stalling us and selling us a lemon to keep ZJ, knowing that we actually have more than a passing interest, and have actually convinced Zak to consider us in light of a current low ball swan offer

If they price is right id take him as well

Tippett has underachieved at the Swans, but he is no spud. He has long runs of struggling with injury. At this peak he is a very impacting footballer. But his best looks behind him so it would be a no from me.

Levi Casboult is a free-agent and would offer more than Kurt as a key-forward. 201cm, 26y/o, can take a pack-grab (which we're lacking with our kpfs) and can also ruck a bit. He could simply hand it off to Watts and co. for a shot within the 30m arc a la Bernie from outside 50 - though he is going at a crazy 17-4 so far this year - and I have to admit I've always had a soft spot for Levi.

Lol. If he didn't cost much of course I'd take Tippett. He's a solid ruck/forward - something we desperately need. He's not A grade at either one, but he's a way better option than playing a permanent ruck up forward.

The money is irrelevant..

If he was any good pay him

His numbers make Weideman look brilliant.

He's useless now.

Wow. I'm stunned at how no-one wants him, and how four-square against it you are Bub.

12 months ago he was one of the most sought after commodities in footy.

I see him as more of a Waite. We are crying out for a 200cm leading forward who can kick. I remember speaking to some demons who reckoned Vickery was the guy we should go and get as the one who could relieve Gawn and be useful around the ground. That was one that gave me a Bub like response. The idea that we get a "type" of player just because it's what we need badly, disregarding how bad he'd been.

Tippet's a lot better than Vickery. Played beautifully in the first half of last year. My only issue with him is age... but given how talls are playing well into their 30s, he's not a Lewis like pickup, where you worry about what he'll do in 24 months.

The only issue for me is who he's up against around him in terms of trades. Casboult is 27. Offers more time. If the Blues could get something good in FA or ina trade for Levi, they would be laughing. Accuracy this season be damned. Casboult is a guy I love to see play at an opposition club. He's not really a good AFL footballer. Tippet is.

I'm also laughing at how he is apparently a "spud".

Overpaid, yes.

A mercenary, probably.

Injury prone, seems so.

But he is not a spud when up and going.

Im not necessarily saying we should get him, but if the price and his body are right, there's no doubting he fills a hole in our list.

DD... let's consider that. He had a few decent seasons. He then hasn't , for a number of reasons granted. The nett result though isn't that flash. His halcyon days are well past.

What value is he NOW ? Not much in my .

The getting of Tippert offers what ?

Fwiw the Weed's been just as 'dynamic' as ol Kurt....but at least his future is likely to get better. KT is getting worse. His dicky knee ( cue HHIS) doesn't do him any favours.

Hed be a list clogger immediately.

So what's the point

I think we've gone after Levi hard on at least two trade weeks in the last 6 years.  I think  Neeld was very keen on trying to get him over, and Pederson was a consolation prize.

He's out of contract at the end of the year and, according to this article anyway, considers himself underpaid at Carlton:

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
