Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Neita definitely played, Russian and Whelan missed after being injured in the St Kilda game. Smith came in as the 2nd ruck.

Well there you go, apologies I was at the game and for some reason thought he missed.

No worries. I actually just watched the highlights on YT and he kicked the goal to put us 16 points up in the 2nd with a young N. Jones getting the kick out of the centre. Feels like a lifetime ago:blink:

Remember one freakish soccer kick at the MCG by Sean Wight from 35 out. City end. Never saw it on video.

Others. Garry's torp in the Prelim vs Carlton.

Jakovich's scissor kick.

Farmer's at Waverley

Woey's vs Port Adelaide.

Jurrah's first at Docklands.

Neita's v McCabe/Hawthorn.

Trav's in the semi vs Adelaide

Todd Viney vs Sydney in Elimination Final.

Davey's volley vs Brisbane.

Awesome stuff guys.

I appreciate the responses, lots of goals I already had in the video, but quite a few have been added on the back of your suggestions, eg Lyon in 1988 Prelim

Keep the memories and suggestions coming

1992 against Hawthorn. Jako took a mark 50 metres out on a bad angle. Ran around the Hawk player on the mark - on the boundary line, mind you - and then slotted it through. To this day, I have never seen anything  like it.

That 4th quarter against Carton was the best quarter of football I've seen Melbourne play. Sat right in the pocket had the best view of it

Round 22 at the MCG. This goal will be in the video.

And the player he ran around on the mark, just an average defender by the name of Chris Langford.

The one that sticks out for me was Brad Green taking a chest mark in the last quarter of a final v Carlton I think, in 00? It wasn't anything remarkable, it was just the context. These young guns were firing on all cylinders. Cam Bruce, Adem Yze etc. Just an avalanche of goals as we overran the opposition. It just seemed so unlikely that this young kid had come into the side and was beating his defender and kicking these pure straight goals. A very surreal experience that year with (Almost) everything clicking.

Edit: FOund it!

Love all the memories and agree that there have been some beauties.

no one has mentioned Mark Jackson or Darren Bennet. Both were sometimes the only highlight in our season and kicked some amazing goals.

I'm surprised  Gerard Healy hasn't cracked a mention. I remember him kicking some absolute crackers. He was very good at running around the mark but also would rove off the pack or boundary throw ins in the FL.

I also have great memories of Neitz. Especially for big bombs from outside 50 that would sail through at half post height.

My most memorable goal was Lyon out at Waverley in the 88 Elimination final vs West Coast. With about a minute to go, he picked up a hard ball from the deck, spun and kicked one from about 30m out and the ball went about 80m up. This put us 3 pts up, and the crowd we're going mental. Half the crowd were celebrating so hard that they failed to notice Wrenstead from WC running towards goal from the next centre bounce, only to miss his shot for a point. Siren goes, we win by 2 pts. I was knackered from all the emotions. That Lyon goal was a beauty, though, escpecially in the context of the game.

Jack Watts 2017 Queens Birthday.

A new favourite...

Got me thinking:

Ricky Jackson snap to put us in front vs Footscray 1987 Round 22
Robbo left foot snap vs Essendon in the last round that put us into the finals in 2005

We lost the game but Peter Vardy and Adem Yze put through two running tight angle goals (both on the left I think) in the 2nd quarter of that psychotic final vs Adelaide in 2002

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
