Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tyson was very good, I suppose 'prolific but wasteful' or 'slow and ineffective' templates didn't quite fit today so 'a front runner' had to be inserted.

I do agree with the rest though. Lewis played the classic yin yang game.

We do hold Oliver to incredibly high standards. 35 touches from a teenager is crazy but it's really just business as usual for Clarry. I don't think today was in his best 5 performances of the year. He's a freak.

Dommy T gave us some run and didnt turn it over at all really. Good game

Tyson was literally useless until the tide turned.

And the turning of the tide came from Nathan Jones, our skipper.

Tyson got involved once the ball got rolling and as others have stated, he is a front runner. Watch how hard he runs forward compared to when he needs to chase.

And as for turnovers. ^ I guess some supporters will see only what they want to see. He is floating at the moment and is lucky to be in the side.

I disagree. Got plenty of the ball. Got in to the packs better than he has earlier this year.

No. That's Condescending. The tide turned partly because he came of the back of the square, and did it well. You have to give credit where it's due. When we got going, he created. He didn't create because we got going. He actually created turnovers.

Agree generally with your point though. Up until this game, he's been disastrously out of form. No confidence. Looked slow. Today was an improvement.

Opinions are opinions, but it's fair enough that supporters got behind him today. He improved somewhat. You don't know more than other people just because you have a beef with a player (albeit an understandable one).

Laconic

adjective

1.
using few words; expressing much in few words; concise:
a laconic reply.

Did this trait really have an effect on his game?

Heard Alister Lynch also use the term during commentary today in relation to Jack Watts - so you aren't Robinson Crusoe joeboy!

PS Apologies for my pedantry - it's just that the misuse of this word has been a pet-hate of mine for a very long time now. Find it very hard to just let it slip by without comment.

PPS Thanks for the weekly reports - much appreciated.

Watts is always laconic, it's his personality, people think he doesn't try but he does, played welll today after couple quiet weeks

He is the link man in the forward line, and can kick straight which is a pleasant change

That's fair enough!

joeboy and others don't understand Tyson. He's not fast. In the first half of matches he tends to be under pressure. But as the game progresses his extraordinary strength in the packs increasingly prevails. It's not front running. It's just that he's better in the second half!

we should offer greater recognition to Harmes and Hannah. At least Harmes can kick straight and his goals, when things were desperate, were vital. And Hannah is a born opportunist. It's true that Bugg, as a forward, has a great defensive game, but for some reason he's poking at his kicks rather than kicking through the ball. If he could cure this, and his kicking action is sound enough, he would be very valuable. And we would have won last week.

Was unreal. When we needed to kick a couple more to get the game under control his handballs created goals. And not just dinky inside ones. Long looping 15 metre ones too.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
