Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Does anyone know if Trac got injured in the second half? Had 12 touches to half time, finished with 15.

Probably knackered.  The breaks come at the perfect time for a few of our boys.

Any chance we get a tall back in two weeks' time?

Dom Tyson was terrific when most were playing shite

Watts did some good things

Oscar Mc hurt a few with his pack crashing

Is CP5's knee still giving him grief?

Hibberd and Frost have been sensational pickups

Hannan's alright

I have still liked his game over the past fortnight, though.  He is clearly playing well as a defensive forward, he has good hands and he is getting to the right spots to hit the scoreboard.  He just needs to put a few kicks through the big sticks like he did against the Crows.

Yep. I'd take Bugg over Kent every day of the week atm. Needs to finish though obviously.

Good point, SJ.  He used it very well this week and he was stiff to be dropped a few rounds ago.

The other one that stood out for me was Melksham.  Had a huge impact on the game and he looks a much better player since being released from the half back line.  Let's hope that continues as well.

Needs to back it up now. Was very clean with his ball use and it stood out. No complaints if he can play like that every week. Still a big if at this stage.

Don't believe so, was still out there all game. He was just really fumbly today. Dropped marks and couldn't pick up loose balls on the ground. Was not a good game by him. Still young so will take time to build consistency.

Jordan Lewis was so important behind the ball, setting up and really leading the team.

Oscar MacDonald is simply a mistake machine.  Almost every touch led to a turnover, a contested ball and lots of goal assists for GC.  He really isn't good enough, based on this performance.

We can do great things in a half of footy - I'm keen to see them put it together for 4 quarters at some stage.

He's so important in structure. He understands what Goodwin wants and seems to always be in the right position. Let's wait till this time next year and see where he is at. Once he cleans up his decision making by 10% he will be very important

I have more confidence in Frost than the two of them combined. Over it.

Fair to say we are very much in the market for another quality KPD. And if we aren't, we should be.

You could be forgiven for wanting nothing to do with the club after the first half.  I didn't.  I thought I was going to take a two week hiatus from the site, from the club, from anything to do with Melbourne.  It was close to the worst half of football we have played for some time.  We played lazy, arrogant footy and for the first time I really saw no leadership from our players.  You could almost sense that we thought this was a game we would win without too much effort.  It was horrible to watch.

And then it all changed.  Our leaders, especially Jones, took the game by the scruff of the neck and said 'we've had enough'.  Against the wind we worked super hard and got ourselves back in front before going on with the job in the last term like we should.  We played some terrific footy and it was clear that our changes worked as we had plenty of run to finish off the game.  It was great to watch.  A few things stood out:

I have loved the development of Hannan over the last fortnight.  We are seeing a good player form right before our eyes.  He can be a real weapon for us.

Nathan Jones stood up big time in the third term and gave us some real leadership.  It was fantastic to see.

Jeffy Garlett has been sensational this year and it was so pleasing to see him kick another 4 after a quiet game.

I thought our changes were spot on this week and really gave us run we needed to not only get back into the game but to finish it off as well.

No doubt the first half is something we need to fix and fix quickly.  But, we are 5-5 going into the bye and we can rest and hopefully get a few key players back for a big second half of the year.  We may not be a finals side going by tonight's effort, but we are well and truly in the running.

Bring on the Pies in a fortnight!

Yes, it is interesting isn't it. I decided to go for a bike ride, have a coffee, just chill out at half time. I came back via Foxtel IQ 40 minutes later and they were 10 points in front. I think I am a jinx. I will refrain from live watching in future -.far more enjoyable when you know the result!

Haven't seen the game so it's impossible to comment but surely it's a positive when we only play for 1.5 quarters and win by 7 goals?

Sounds like, for the 10th game out of 10 this year, the game was played on our terms: when we were "on", we dominated, when we were "off", we stunk.

Again, can't know without having the game, but I suspect there is a healthy dose of MFCSS in the whole "the second half was only because GC stopped". They had the bye last week, surely it wasn't the fact that they hit a wall or something. I'd be confident that the second half was us lifting far more than it was GC dropping.

Thomas Bugg needs to bugger off.

Pretty nice to win a game of footy when about half the team deserves to be left in Alice never to be seen again.

Pathetic lackluster garbage effort for 2.5 quarters. Distinct lack of effort and some woeful kicks and decision making. Incredibly frustrating.

We are a long long way off being good enough to make, let alone win finals.

If we played a good team today, we would have been 20 goals down at half time.

Those close losses against Freo and Hawks mean we will be out of the eight after tonight instead of 4th or 5th.

I hope that fact sticks around like a bad case of anal pruritus over the bye period for the players.

No offence Dan but really? Oscar would be near to the worst player in the comp. Would not get a game in any other team. Tom...so much hype but his decision making and disposal is very, very ordinary.

Yes, that's very true.  The second half was down to us, not them.  We stopped their momentum and put them to the sword.

However, the first half was an atrocity that we should make sure we never watch again.

In our defence .... we kicked 2 goals 7 in the second quarter. If it had been 6.3 or even 5.4 this would have been a good game for us.

The forward line simply did not function in the first half. The backline played reasonably well and the mids held their own.

Aaron Hall had a blinding first quarter and a reasonable second quarter but was far less effective in the second half.

MFCSS was really alive in that first half but deservedly so. GC are deservedly 16th on the ladder and lost to Port at a neutral venue by over 60 points.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
