Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Would it be too strange to think that a certain pair of AFL coaching brothers have access to Umpires latest interpretations of rules, and when and where it's going into operation well in front of everyone else. Do they have priors? Are they smarter? Is it all coincidental? And do the media know anything about anything? Imagine the scoop boys....

Franklin is playing out of his mind. Pity the rest of his side is playing a bit average (two injuries doesn't help).

I don't like Sydney at all but I detest Hawthorn. I'd rather a situation in which Sydney make the finals from 0-6 and Hawthorn finish bottom 4 in a sh!t year than a year in which Hawthorn bounce back and tell everyone their list is actually good and their list management decisions were correct.

Callum Mills' two massive errors in the fourth (the rushed kick for goal which would have put them 2 goals up and then the turnover which led to Roughead's goal) arguably lost the game for Sydney.

Not sure what to make of that. Sydney was a man down from the start and two down for the second half but probably still should have won.

Is there a dumber commentator than Cameron Ling ???  Umpire pays a free to Sydney... ( surely a mistake) clearly indicating a holding the man free. Ling in his ingratiating drawl says " below the knees, at least they're consistent "

What' s consistent is this biased pro Hawthorn drivel you get from these fools every week. And Bruce, the king of hyperbole, is the ringleader of these sycophants.

Pass me the sick bucket.

One can't help but admire Roughead's leadership and determination.

Well done - didn't really care who won as I dislike them both for different reasons.

If he has taken Jesse under his wing a bit, I hope Jess has learned from Roughy's efforts tonight.

PS - it does show just how hard it is when you are two down on the bench for over half a game

None worse than Brad Sewell. Every comment was about Sydney's problems or the great things Hawthorn was doing.

I feel like commentary these days is becoming increasingly influenced by bias.

When we were two players down v Richmond it got a casual mention in the media, but mainly it was all about how good Richmond were!

Sydney are two down and they wont shut up about how hard it is to win two down. Seems it's an excuse for some teams and not for others.

Good result for us. Sydney are more likely to challenge us for top 8 and even though hawks are equal points with us their percentage is woeful - and of course we have a game in hand. I reckon there is real chance a team might make the finals with 12 wins and if so percentage will be absolutely critical as there is a chance that multiple sides will end the season on 12 wins.

'titan', I think it's more about colour pieces these days.

They've got retired champions to give special comments & all they do is fill colour and give absolutely no insight into the game.

The drivel they carry on with you & I could do from watching the tele...

It dumb's down the game...

It's about ratings I know but for me I would rather see the end of the old champions like Mathews, Carey, Watson, Lyon as they have been out of the game to long and bring nothing to the table.

Even Richardson & Ling have been left behind.

Bring in fresh talent for expert commentary every couple of years and keep up to date...

As for the likes of Taylor, Russell & their ilk, surely we can do better...

I agree with the comments about the commentary. Abysmal.

Sewell was sent to find out what happened to Reid. His report was greeted with such congratulations from his colleagues that I fully expect him to be nominated for a Walkley award.

Ling and Carey provide no insights.

Taylor is just a big fat turd.

McAveney's demented growls of excitement at Hawthorn goals were excruciating.

I've thought this for a while, but the hype on Mills is misplaced.  I wondered if Sydney supporters thought the same so went on to their "Autopsy" thread.

This from one of their moderators, "Mills is honestly an average footballer.  What the **** does everyone see?"  He has 10 likes from fellow Swans supporters as I type.

He looks nice, has courage, but goes under the radar as a very vanilla footballer.

But he's still young and may well elevate his game to the A-grade status he has seemed destined for.

Disagree entirely, is a fantastic prospect. Great overhead, good kick and reads the play exceptionally well.

Had two opportunities in the last quarter which he blew. Heeney made a big mistake also when he had options galore. They are young players, it happens. No different to Oliver dropping a sitter 15m out last week.

I'm glad we ended up with Oliver, but would still rate Mills the 3rd best prospect out of that draft.

You may disagree entirely, but Swans supporters are very disappointed in what they're seeing.  I watch him closely and he's been exceptionally underwhelming.

I'm not sure what you're watching.

I can only conclude you're basing your assessment on potential and what you expect and not what you're viewing.

Maybe he needs to move to a club with a track record of developing high draft picks - the MFC. (Cue laughter track)

I tend to agree. There are a few high draft picks that just fall into that nice, average player for mine. McGrath is another one from Essendon. Nice player, but won't be a star.

Someone like Heeney is far more explosive than Mills imo.

given swans are 3 and 7 i'd expect the supporters are being super critical of most of their players and riightly pizzed off. not surprising, so i wouldn't build too strong a case on a lot of demented swanny hysterical emotions

My observations on Mills have nothing to do with Melbourne.  The link isn't even tenuous.

As for Mills ?  We bid on him, so I've been interested in him since he was drafted.  The hype was very strong on this guy.  While he's a neat player and nowhere near the finished product I don't see the superstar in the making that we were told was almost a fait accompli.  Seemingly, many Sydney supporters agree,

As for the "he's young, young players make mistake, don't judge young developing players too quickly, blah, etc, blah", yes, these types of comments appear millions of times daily around the world.  It's easy to have this as your default position.  Millions do it.  And obviously there's often some truth to it.  But right now I don't see the traits in Mills that scream he'll ever be a multiple AA superstar.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
