Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesse Hogan's Return

Anyone with expertise on the matter feel free to weigh in. The doctor quoted Hogan as 4-8 weeks when it was diagnosed. I'm guessing he was thinking of Jesse's mindset and mental demons rather than the operation itself taking that long to heal? If he plays against Collingwood it would be only 3 weeks or so. No rush of course but I hope he does. Imagine 70,000 fans roaring when he takes his first mark and 22 red and blue jumpers swamping him after a goal. It would be the best story of the year to date

Presumably for Melbourne?  I think in the league as a whole, Roughead kicking the winning goal on Friday night is as good as the best stories get.

Fair go. He might be a dodgy pool builder or dodgy fence contractor or dodgy health pill salesman.

True.

I thought it was a really odd photo. I understand that Jesse and the club probably didn't want to make a big deal about the return and probably it's not the right time to front the media but this looks like the photo was taken surreptitiously from behind the hedges and add to that the watermark and the grainy quality it does look like he is a dodgy pool builder.

All that aside I am rapt that Jesse is back and hope the recovery continues to go well.

This is good news right?

Then why he look like he on A Current Affair after he swindled some old folks out of their life savings?

Good to see you back Jesse.

Tom Mc said he is still pretty sore from the surgery but he is keen to get back and play again.

Watts said he spoke with him last night and also said Jesse is keen to get back '...whether that is after the bye or a week or two later, we'll see'.

QB looking less likely.

I think it would be good thing for the club to actually say to Jesse they won't consider him in contention for QB. Ease the pressure on him and have him (and Gawn for that matter) focused on a return vs the Bulldogs. That way the club can prepare with clear minds rather than the media circus of "will he/won't he play".

He's back just before the players get 4 days off. My guess is he's back to get some sort of work in to get up for QB. Otherwise why not just come back after the break?

Serious question, will he be able to legally have testosterone replacement therapy so far as wada/asada is concerned , if not he is going to be at a serious disadvantage.

He still has one left, which produces more than enough testosterone in most cases.

And as I read it testosterone supplementation may be permitted, upon application, should the levels be found to be low.

I think whether he plays QB or the week after he still needs to get the work in.  If he has another week off then it makes even harder to get back

The 18th is a Sunday and it is at 3:20pm

I know it's not practical from a preparation and fixturing perspective but this is a situation where some flexibility in the scheduling of matches would be handy. This should be a Friday night game. The Saints can play the Kangas in the who cares Sunday 3:20pm timeslot.

Who says they haven't said this to him? Selection and player A or B will be right is often all smoke and mirrors.

do you think it'd be better for dees' finals prospects if north or richmond wins tonight? I'm torn between eliminating north as a threat and reducing richmond's chances.....

What would enhance Melbourne's finals chances would be to play four quarters every week.

i deleted my comment because i posted it in the wrong thread... but i definitely agree - whether we make finals depends on us and us alone. however, i think in such an even competition this year, there will be some element of reliance on the results of non mfc matches to see who makes the eight.

I do understand this 'cliche' and why it's used. However it's impossible. If we played '4 quarters every week' we'd finish top of the ladder, likely undefeated.

Name 1 team that plays their best every quarter every week.

It's about finding ways through the patches in games that you aren't. Hogan is important to being able to achieve this because he's a big body and a target that helps us hold our structure. That he kicks goals helps too.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
