*Dave Misson stated in last week's injury report that Tim Smith should be ready for selection this week. At this stage, he's a better option than Weideman. In time I have no doubt Weideman will come good, he at times has shown some promising signs. He just needs to develop his body, tank, and game in the seconds.

Yeah, Melk should come in and get a run through the midfield and see how he goes. He dominated there for Casey. Struggles at half back it appears.

We need Petracca to play more forward as we lack firepower with Hogan out.  Also Trac is due a rest.. play him full forward this week, then we have the bye.

Its funny how we were all singing about the depth of talent this year. While I for one am impressed with our recruiting we need to keep building.

Also tempering the players excitement after a big win wouldn't hurt either. How often to we win a big game , sing our own praises then lose the next 2. Do we have such low expectations? Is this our problem? Have years of defeatism taken its toll? The club should bunker down after every win and focus on what needs to be done for another. So tired of the roller coaster that is MFC at times as are so many others, Im sure.

The next celebration should be when we hold up the coveted cup. That's my rant for the week.

Surely Smith doesn't come straight in.   He didn't really set the world on fire when he played.  If they are to bring him in, they must keep Weed in

Keep playing the Weed, he is due a breakout game where he kicks 5. Also, Kent looks out of touch, I'd ask him to focus on pressure and tackling on the basis if he gets this right his offensive game will fall into place naturally.

5? Most here would be happy enough if our KPF had a shot on goal every now and then. Indeed, happy enough if he just laid some tackles. I see absolutely no reason why we shouldn't give Hullet a run in his place.

I hope the players don't "go easy" for even one minute this week or any other week.  They have gone missing far too often and far too long in every game this year.

Can you actually recall a time when we have backed up a good win with another?   None spring to mind in recent years.

And your final paragraph is really what should be the only thing regarded as acceptable - all else is not good enough.

We did beat port in port after the hawks win last year...but i certainly get your point. Geez I think I feel another level of dejected this week...sunday hurt me bad. Real bad.

I'm leaning towards Harmes and Stretch replacing Salem and Kent.

Get Stretch to run off half-back and up the wings all day.

Harmes to provide minimal impact across half-forward which unfortunately is an improvement on the nothing Kent is giving us.

I'm not sure on Weideman. Given he's not impacting games it's hard to defend him on the "he's our only tall option" argument but I can't think of any exciting or obvious replacement.

Wagner's adding little but with Salem forced out I'd rather not make more changes than necessary to that part of the ground.

Reserving any thoughts until this week's Plapp report, though I think ANB, Stretch and Harmes (was the carry-over emergency but was hot in the VFL the week before) will be in the mix. I prefer Stretch over the other two, but I want to see how their reports contrast before choosing.

I think the outs will be Salem and Kent.  

I'd like to see Tim Smith get another run, but he will surely come back through Casey.  If they're willing to have a punt on him then I have him in place of Weideman; otherwise I see no option but to persist with Weid.

It is going to be 29 on Saturday, so I would be looking to inject some extra run into the side. Harmes, Neal-Bullen, Melksham and Stretch will all come into consideration.

Melksham is first cab off the rank based on VFL form and I would swap him for Salem.

Harmes was stiff to be dropped in the first place and I would swap him for Wagner who has been disappointing IMO. This may leave our defence undersized if Tom McDonald needs to go into the ruck, but so be it.

Neal-Bullen comes in for Weideman. While I am reluctant to drop Weideman due to our lack of height, I feel he isn’t offering anything up forward, so I would rather go with another runner.

Stretch for Bugg or Kent is also worth considering (or not).

Melksham might take the place of Salem, where I had earmarked Stretch.  Raffle it between ANB (dominant this week) or Harmes (dominant last week) for Kent - I don't have a preference who.  Look forward to the day when we're not trying to decide which NQR to pick for the last spot, but the positive is we're only choosing between a couple these days and not a dozen.

If King had a couple more games under his belt, I don't think it would be such a bad idea to bring him in for Weid and have him rotate through the forward fifty and the ruck. Playing him about 40 to 50% in the ruck would protect him from being damaged by a much bigger body and would allow Pedo more time up forward as a genuine target.

As it is though he probably still isn't ready, so Smith in for Weideman this week could be the go.

Harmes in for Salem, Stretch/Melksham for Kent.

it's another game that we should win but who knows with this drunk season - and it's not just us, the whole competition has been on the turps.

as long as we're down a 'true' ruckman we are going to struggle with any team that has a semi-decent one, not to mention a decent forward set-up. lynch and 2 metre peter will trouble us big time in the air, while witts could have his statistically most dominant game ever.

Yep, I like all these changes and think this is the way we'll go.

Harmes definitely deserves a shot ahead of Kent.

They might feel Bugg did enough, but Stretch is a better player and has hopefully done enough at Casey to offer a better run and carry option ahead of Bugg. He does need to get more involved in the forward half though.

And Wagner has been close to terrible since coming back. I'd play Melksham this week and get Wags (who I rate) to go back and work on that disposal of his.

Fresh is never a bad thing either, especially given the Suns have had the week off.

It'll be interesting to see who plays third defender this week.

King coming in could be a possibility in place of Weideman

My only problem is that with his limited game time since coming back he may not have the tank for the Alice.

This season is practically over so it is time to see if King can come on as a replacement for Spencer next year.

As to the ever revolving trio of changes it is really neither here nor there. All have been given their chance and I doubt that any will show dramatic improvement although I still hold out hope for Stretch.

Melksham is the most disappointing simply because he was regular 22 in the Bombers team when they were an upper middle rung team. Would be interesting to hear why he was so often a regular pick for the Bombers and what if anything has he lost since coming across to us.

If we can tred water until Gawn and hogan are back then we can have a big push to the top 8 come second half of the season
