Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Logical matchup for Waite this weekend, who has stitched us up a number of times in the past.  I felt the backline looked as strong as I could remember against Adelaide.  Long may it continue.

The midfield pressure on the guy with the ball is a key to this. High up and under kicks under pressure makes life easier for defeners. Check out the first qtr, Hibbs had a heap of intercept marks and spoils because of this.

I think we'll see Tmac forward again this weekend so Frost must mind Waite because he'll be far too strong for Oscar.

The thing I really liked about Frost's game on Saturday was how calm he seemed on Tex. There was niggle all over the ground but I can't recall seeing anything between Sam and Tex which could indicate a level of respect being earned to go along with his development. He just seems to be playing with a cool head, executing what the coaches have tasked him with.

I'd like to see Waite try it on and we all know he probably will. I think young Sam might have his measure in the strength department so it's a match-up I'm really looking forward to.

At one point Tex was having a bit of a crack at someone, can't recall who, and Frosty went up to Tex and gave him a little 'love tap'. Tex spun around to see who it was and saw it was Frosty, and left it at that.

I think his number one attribute is his competitiveness, he hates being beaten. Some of his smothers this year have been incredible. Beyond that though, I think his size and speed instill a certain amount of fear in his opponents.

Frost on Waite would be intriguing to watch, I hope it happens from the first bounce.

Frosty has been great but I thibk tmac takes waite and frost on Brown.

Brown's been the sort of player that in the past we don't pay enough attention to and tears us a new one and we all wonder how the hell it can happen. Frost and Brown are probably more athletically matched so I like your thinking here.

True. Can play Oscar on waite if willing to take risk.

And how much moaning was there at the time of it being "overs"? I wonder if anyone wants to try and defend that position now.

We drafted ANB and OMac with the picks we received. So our two staple key defenders and a useful flanker, all for the bargain price of a second rounder.

really interesting player Sam Frost. Some think you can't improve your kicking but he certainly has, and his speed out of the backline is breath taking at times. still drops easy marks but his recovery is very good.

He is gaining in confidence no doubt and he, Hibberd and Hunt make for a very attacking half back line. Hope he can maintain this level as he has not shown it before. It makes you think if he improved his marking, we could have a real beauty on our hands here.

So we traded pick 23 for Frost, ANB, and OMac.

And Pick 23 turned into Pat McKenna who we traded for in an exchange of unused picks.

We got all 4 for no outlay.

Was a crucial year for us. We also got Petracca and Brayshaw in that draft as well as Billy stretch as F/S at pick 42. Could be a club shaping year.

One week is a long time in football. After the Hawthorn loss our back line was 'disgraceful' and we needed two more high quality tall defenders if we were ever going to beat anyone again.

Props to Frosty who is playing some really good footy. Love how he takes the game on with dash out of the back line, but it can be a bit frustrating when he gains 20 metres on foot and then handballs to a stationary player. Hopefully he'll iron out the little kinks with time but he's coming along nicely.

Frost was one of our best against the Hawks and had a lot to do with giving us a bit of drive in that 3rd Quarter.

Looks like the coaches have given him license to run, carry and create, which probably means he's playing off instinct and not making quite as many mistakes as he was previously.

His athleticism was always eye catching, but it looks like he's putting it altogether, which is a great win for the recruiting team which identified him as the Frawley replacement, but also the coaching and development team.

Just a view. Prefer to see him as a key back doing the strong job he's done there. I just think it's what he does best. Reminds me of the Harry Taylor experiment at Geelong - has been used successfully as a swing man during games, but doesn't seem to be a success as a permanent forward - a case of robbing Peter to rob Paul as well, the opposite of a win/win.

The subject of this thread in fact was being used in his early days with us as a forward, but he just screamed defender, and his performance seems to confirm that; maybe he could pinch-hit up forward during games when we are in trouble, and it might work, but would be surprised if Project Send Frosty Forward proved successful.

I'm not so sure. I think there's a bit to be said for spending a couple of years down back and then moving him forward like a Neitz. His natural flair for attack will be an asset once he has taken on board some lessons from playing on opposition forwards.

He is playing very good footy at the moment.

Can't be bothered trawling through old threads, but someone made a ludicrous call after his first game this year, which he actually played pretty well in, that he would be out of the side and delisted by the end of the season. It was ridiculous then, and even more farcical now.

Because of his size I don't think opposition players expect the lacehe brings but his first 5 steps once he decides to get on his bike are incredibly quick. He's really become the guy we use to break the lines coming out of defence.

If we start using Hunt a bit more around the ground and up forward than this is very important as it means we aren't losing that pace out of defence.

The only reason Tommy Mac forward permanently wouldn't work consistently is because of Tom's kicking.

Wherever he plays, he needs to improve this part of his game otherwise he'll kill us.

In other news, Frosty is quickly becoming one of my favourites. Just needs to work on his marking. He's dropped a few as of late he should be taking. But 1v1 and attacking off half back, he's been superb.

I think Tommy Mac's goals were both during play. Wonder what his set shots are like?

that said, I thought his presence and abilty to crash packs was immense. He seemed to really relish creating havoc rather than fixing it.

Frost is uncharacteristically quick for a tall. He is a headache of a matchup for talls who have to chase him down on the rebound.

I'd say Frost is uncharacteristically tall for a quick. He's fast by any standard, not just for talls. Freak athlete - it's very exciting to see him start putting some serious footy together. His ball use has really lifted this year.

His second goal was a set shot from about 25m out directly in front.

He's only given away 3 free kicks as well, while being 4 frees for. Although he's played a couple of extra games, Tom McDonald has given away 11 free kicks in comparison.

Really? I could have sworn there was one match where he had three bs frees given against him alone.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
