Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nice to hear that Sam Rowe is going to give support to Jesse after going through the same experience.

Strange to think that it was only a few weeks ago that Jess got rubbed out for his uppercut to Rowe's jaw.

Hope he can help Jess get through this. Great to hear that everyone's behind the kid.

Could not believe the news. Best wishes to him and his family. There is a silver lining to this for Jesse, he wants to be a part of a winning team, the bonding these players are going through right now, caring for each other,  will make them a better team and will stand them all in good stead down the track. Jesse will get some clear air soon he bloody well deserves it.

I think you are spot on in terms of the the sharing and caring for each other will help this team. The two most used word by players to describe their relationship with each other this year are mates and brothers. What Jessie is going through will bring them together even more.

Also before the Pink Lady game PJ (and a player, who i can't recall) mentioned a woman who worked for the club had been diagnosed with cancer and that had it affected everyone. Such a wicked disease.

No doubt such things bring the whole club together, not just the players.

Was just announced on the Triple M Rush Hour that they had received a text from Jesse's manager saying that he is awake from his surgery and it all went extremely well, good signs!!!

Best of luck Jesse.

Life is full of little ironies, is it not?  Who could have guessed that the very guy who Jesse took a pop at a few weeks ago would be the same guy who is probably best placed of all the current crop of AFL players to help Jesse through this trial in his life.  Guess it's a good thing Sam doesn't hold grudges.  (Mind you, he probably accepts a certain amount of culpability for their interaction on that day.)

Anyway, I can only add my voice to the chorus of all and sundry wishing Jesse a speedy recovery.  As they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...!

My wife is going back home to visit her family next month.

Might be an opportune time for me to "check" also.

Can't be too careful.

Fortunately things have come a hell,of a long way since Peter Crimmins' day.

Very curable but an awful blow to a young man who has just been through his father's cancer death.

All our best wishes, Jesse.

If and when you are able to return you will be most welcomed by all.

I've now seen all of today's pressers, and a number of media commentaries about Jesse's situation.  They reinforce what we already knew, and that is that we support a great football club.  Their professionalism in handling the situation has been of the highest order, and we know that their support for Jesse and his family will be unstinting. I'm very, very proud to be a tiny part of the 'family'.  Get well quick Jesse!

Poignant pic of Roughy embracing Jesse after the game the other week, no doubt offering condolences. Coincidentally, it's 1 year to the day since his own cancer diagnosis. Thankfully, Jesse's prognosis sounds a lot more positive than what Roughy initially faced.

This has probably already been said but given the timing the impact will be more psychological than physical and Jesse is really lucky to have a great peer group around him. There would be no better place to be than a footy club for a young man in this situation.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery. I was 95% chance of complete cure and then 4 years after that it came back. It is an  insidious disease and not to be underestimated.

From the sound of it he should  recover well. It is a disease that impacts both physically and mentally and the timing after losing his father is tragic.

Football for him is secondary, get well Jesse, enjoy life and be strong.

Got to feel for his Mum

Fortunately the prognosis sounds as good as it could be. Thank heavens he had a medical team that he trusted and who he spoke to earlyon . We can sit on these things for way too long out of shyness/ denial. Well done Jesse and the club and good luck

See you next year for the Coleman and a Premiership

Thoughts with the big fella. Neither he nor we can take a trick at minute. Look forward to seeing him back in the number 1 smashing packs soon after he gets through this battle. Once again though I am so proud of the way the club has handled this from not leaking last week to the way our boys kept their heads together to represent on Saturday to the way Mahoney and Zeeshan handled today. How great is it to support a professional club unified at all levels that has great care for their people.

Didn't Simon O'Donnell have the same disease some years ago. I would think that there are a number of sportsmen who the Club could organise for Jessie to talk with.

I agree with the other comments that he is in the best place to recuperate. The Club has done a mighty job supporting Jesse through his father's illness and now to be confronted with this. Kudos to the Club being able to control the noise from the outer regarding Jessie's father and now for getting on the front foot (with approval from Jessie and his mother) to control the frenzy that could have resulted if there had been a leak regarding his latest battle. Mahoney was right when he said that he is 22 years of age an he has had to become mature way beyond his years.

I am heartened by the Club Doctor's prognosis and look forward to Jessie's return to playing.

I know it's been said a lot that it has a very high survival rate but I thought I'd also share a family friend had it as well and not only survived but had children afterwards.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
