Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

harsh marker there pick... I think both are serviceable given more time...and it is now a luxury that we have 5-7 players that can rotate through the 20-22 mix.

Is everyone forgetting that Hunt was out cold for about a minute or more?He was seeing owls flying in circles.

He might be lucky to play this week .

Weids probably had the least impact so he will make way for Hogan.

Harmes has earned a recall after his leather poisoning.

In :Hogan,Harmes

out Hunt,Weids.

Too early for that I reckon.

They both play considerably different roles in the senior team than at Casey, so it's tough to change roles each week.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harmes really comes on. He's a burst player, and if he gains some confidence he could really cement himself as a marking high pressure small half forward.

Yes they can, but not when the umpire initiates the contact.

The umpire went back and hit Bernie on the face, with the back of his head.

Didn't look too much, very surprised the umpire went off and stayed off.

Doesn't the player have to get out of the way? Ie if he does bump the ump even if incidental the players gets suspended?

Hoges won't be coming in.

We probably need to talk about Wagner. I can't comment on his defensive efforts off the ball, but his disposal really hasn't been up to scratch since his return. Which I find odd, because I thought it was one of his stronger points last season. I would be happy to persist, as I think he has a future, but with Melksham waiting in the wings I can foresee an unforced change.

Apparently milkshake was sensational last week in the VFL.

As much as I want him to play...No way Hunt plays this week. Would be a poor look if he plays the week after being carted off the ground with concussion.

Brad Green went off on a stretcher a few years ago and came back in the same game!!

Hannan was vital in keeping that forward pressure especially in the second half, I really like how well he competes in the air, launches are every marking contest with purpose. He created a lot of opportunities and explosive around stoppages at times. His team low 8 possessions were very important.

I very much doubt he is dropped this week.

Needs to get his hands on the ball more & be cleaner when he actually does have it.

Out - Hannan

In - Harmes

Harmes & Bullen will both make it, still very raw, huge upside

So what do we know about Hogan, and why is there innuendo that he won't be back this week (or a while)?

i thought 'illness' meant man flu or some such.

we could replace a Kent with Hogan, if available.  I think this might be a good structural solution.

Inside info?

(wouldn't surprise though ...)

no-one knows, some posters are hinting it is part of his grieving but how they can extrapolate that to "a long time" would indicate they must be claiming clairvoyance.

Not a Wagner fan but he played pretty well I thought. Much better one on one pressure than I have seen before and his link play was very good. Disposal is one of my knocks on him but overall it was pretty good. He is also getting used to the team around him which is very important.

I watched a different Wagner to you. I lost count of the number of mistakes he made with ball in hand. Offensively he was very poor.

I mentioned elsewhere that I was at a function last Monday where Mark Bradshaw was interviewed. I'm certain he said that it was club policy that a player misses at least two weeks following a head knock (he may have said concussion).

Aside: he also said how his wife could not bring herself to watch Gus play (and that was before yesterday).

Can players get suspended for umpire contact or is it just fines, should Bernie be worried

With the MRP it is anyone's guess, though it is a player in Red and Blue so probably time for them to set a precedent (which they will ignore at their whim later for 'special players')

I suspect that some posters like to try to claim inside knowledge even if they don't have it.

Hope Hogan only comes in only  if fully fit and emotionally prepared. We found other  avenues to goal without him and our forward pressure was better without him

If he needs a long break give it to him and hopefully he comes back and contributes in a big way to the team

Who? What would a musician know about concussions?

I preface this comment by admitting I haven't seen the game. However, in a purely structural sense, we are a better team when Hogan has additional tall players around him reducing the opportunity for opponents to double- and triple-team him. For this reason, if the decision for Hogan to come in is between Weideman and Hannan, we are a better prospect with Weideman remaining in the team. That doesn't mean that Weideman should definitely remain - only that if there was not that much difference between Weideman and Hannan (or Kent for that matter), I would keep the Weid in the team.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
