Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trenners for Bugg, Kent for JKH.

How can Stretch be dropped after reasonable form, then not play for 2 weeks at Casey, then be dropped to Casey. Surely that would be unfair and he is back in. Also he is an Adelaide boy.

I can't see Trengove being selected this week.  I don't think he will flourish against the Crows.  He'll get his chance, but I'm just not sold on it being this week.

Having said the above, just watch me end up being wrong.

I reckon Kent and Stretch are the other two who will come in to provide a little more of that run, carry and spread.  JKH and Buggy are the ones to make way IMO.

Agree with all these, but I also think ANB for Hannan is on the cards, though I doubt that all three changes would be made in the same week.  Nothing particulaly   against the players suggeted to be dropped, just don't think they are really hitting their straps at the moment and that those on the ins list are probably fractionally ahead on tallent and or toughness.

In general, I think the team needs to come out with fire in their nostrils and maintain that for the entire contest - I don't really think we're done that for a single game this year yet.  I'd also like to see Harmes in the side for this reason, as I think he has the ability to bring a combination of physicality/burst through strength that the other contenders carn't quite match.  True Harmes's skills can be poor, but my view is that they are hot and cold, rather than inherently limited.  On his day, Harmes has the ability to take a strong overhead mark, take on players and break through lines, puts on hard tackles and bumps, has good goal sense and can be a match winner.

Kent for JKH the obvious and maybe only change

Plapp:

Dean Kent: Dean had 18 possessions, seven tackles and kicked 1.1. It wasn’t the type of game where Kenty wasn’t able to show all of his strengths, because of the conditions. But the one pleasing thing out of Kenty’s game – that we were most pleased about – was his forward pressure. His ability to impact ground balls and put the opposition under pressure created opportunities for us. It’s been two weeks now that Kenty has played the way we want him to. He certainly puts his name up for AFL selection this week.

Two out of three weeks now, but good to hear. Has some talent, just needs to bring it mentally and will be best 22.

Good lord how can we keep Stretch out yet keep Tom Bugg in?

And Weideman as Emergency on the back of what exactly?

I like Kent in as common sense prevails but again another week where i shake my head at selections.

In Kent

Out JKH

Great change that improves the team offensively and defensively. Good to see the team finally starting to settle. Hopefully they rebound from last week and pull off an upset win as payback for a pathetic showing against the Hawks (and Dockers).

If Billy is the designated emergency that is no game for a month. That is crazy.

Weideman is probably an emergency in case something goes wrong with one of our talls.  Lord knows that we don't have many in reserve.  He hasn't done anything to warrant it, but we don't have much choice at this stage.

The defensively bit remains to be seen, but to me we are instantly a better side with Kent as opposed to JKH.

Lever and Tom Lynch (concussion test tomorrow) both out would be good for us.

Kent a massive upgrade on JKH.

Billy Stretch should absolutely be in the team, we need his run and carry and foot skills.

Wow, the letter dude must feel really vindicated.

Will be interesting to see who travels.  The emergencies are interesting: Trenners not in there this week,

maybe Bugg gets another shot- even a 3 week stint- he was impressive at Casey 2 weeks ago.

suggest Nev goes hard tag on Eddie, and either Bugg or Viney get Sloane (or rotating).  Lever out sure helps.

Since Kent has been dropped, it's like he's never tackled before. Remains to be seen if he's better defensively than JKH? It's almost laughable.

You've developed quite the acid tongue towards my posts of late big fella.  I'm not sure why.  I never said he didn't tackle, nor did I necessarily compare him to JKH.  He was dropped for his defensive efforts this year and, if we're being honest, he's been hot and cold in that area for years.  He can do it, and when he does he's terrific (like the night against the Tigers when he was on fire before doing his hammy), but it's almost as if it's a roll of the dice each week.

As I said, we are a much better side with Kent in it, and I'm hoping he learned his lesson from earlier in the year.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
