Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just wanted to give the website guys and gals a bit of props here.

People have been critical of the content available on the official Melbourne website, but as a filmmaker, I feel it's worthwhile to note some of the latest videos. The BCNA video and now the 40,000 members videos are both wonderfully made and love how they're using the 'infinity' quote for the membership numbers. I hope they tap into this next year.

Would still like to see a few more weekly videos. Maybe an analysis of the opposition weekly video like the Tigers have and I'd be using Gawny as much as possible. Great host, great charisma and very watchable.

Anyway, well done, MFC.

Just another update on this.

The article with Craig Jennings on the MFC website should include a video and some footage of the Kangaroos' strengths, but also some of our strengths.

People love video content. That's where it's at and I think is what's missing from the website.

The video content is quite good but someone at the AFL or Telstra need to fix the video player. Since they updated it I can barely get it to play in decent quality.

The video player seemed to change a week or so ago.

And I don't have a particular problem with any of the video content on the site. See my OP. I just think there needs to be more of it.

I agree with you there AF. A bit more 'Around the Club' stuff like other clubs do would be good for the supporters.

Dont get me started. Content is king and there is such a huge opportunity to promote the club and in particular radicaly boost rhe value proposirion to sponsers.

Since getting chromecadt earlier this year i routinely cast videos from my phone, tablet and laptop to the tv. Including stuff from the mfc. This and streaming is how media will be consumed more and more. It is why tv channels will struggle. The clubs that get ahead of this will have a huge opportunty.

Agreed, mate.

As a filmmaker, I see the streaming boom (the soon to be norm) as the holy grail. The only downside to streaming is the lack of a decent NBN thanks to Murdoch, who lobbied to protect his Telstra (read FOXTEL) interests for another 5 years.

In five years time, there'll be STAN (read Channel 9), an international player (probably Netflix), another international player (probably Amazon Prime), Channel 7, maybe Channel 9, ABC and SBS.

In ten years time, if 9 are to survive they'll put all their eggs in the STAN basket, which will leave possibly Channel 7 (who stuffed up Presto and continue to lag behind with Yahoo) and the rest will be streamers. SBS and ABC will operate off streaming services and that will be that.

I'm almost positive that potential sponsors would request site traffic before investing in the club and one obvious way to get site traffic up is video content.

This is something that is worth emailing the club. Not a knock on Dees2014 over in the 'We Could do Better' thread, but this is an area that is very easy to outline in a cost/benefit analysis. Employ someone full-time to strengthen the video-content production team, and the traffic will increase. It's as simple as that. The traffic increases and the sponsorship dollars go up. It's where the world is already at. Particular segments can even have individual sponsors to offset the cost. And if the segments are periodical, and staggered across the week, people who visit the site will click on other links - altogether something which is very easy to measure and tweak.

We also now have a few very marketable players whose appeal reaches beyond our club. Max, Jayden, Bernie are the immediately obvious ones, - the general footy public are starved of personality in this day and age - and we can parlay social-media interest back into the club. And rather than send the club a massive, staid document, we can all generate ideas for segments here (with an acknowledgement of open rights) and just quietly invite the club to have a browse through the thread. I'm sure we have a strong marketing team in place, but it may be an area where there isn't as much awareness and push-down from the top.

A blend of analytical, human interest, and comedy would be ideal. The first thing we need to do is get Bernie stalking Jayden in an owl costume.

Yeah it's horrible quality on PC. No idea what the player is, but it's [censored] house.

The other problem I get is the full post match presser never works on MFC, have to go to the AFL site to get a working version.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
