Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL Evolution Game

Having got insight into the local development industry, I can assure you that this game won't be very good.

1. Developers generally have to fork over large sums to the AFL for licensing. This leaves little to develop a reasonably good game engine.

2. The sport of aussie rules has so many variables, that without a good physics engine, you just end up with a crappy product.

3. The developer, Wicked Witch, has ignore ALL media inquiries. The AFL is handling it all, which is VERY strange. This is generally the role of the game's publisher. Having the company you bought the license from market the game for you is very uncommon. It's basically like buying a product from someone, but then being forced to do with that product whatever the person you bought it from tells you to do.

4. Of the few media who have been given access, there are rumours that the AFL has told them not to give scathing reviews, or to be "gentle".

5. One of the online media outlets given access to the game is owned by a media company that broadcasts AFL. I assume this is either Channel 7, or a radio station. So essentially, the AFL is keeping all media "coverage" entirely internal so as to avoid negative coverage.

6. There's been no pre-release previews of the title, which is extremely rare. Generally, games either go through a pre-release "beta" process in which the game is tested by the public or select people from the public, or media goes hands-on to see the game's progress.

I can say with 100% certainty without even having seen the game that it will be garbage, and that they've spent all of their money on branding and motion capture of player faces, but haven't done much else good with it.

Pretty much what I thought would happen, copy & paste gameplay from the last train wreck and improve the graphics, even they look horrendous.  If there is a decent career mode I can put up with bad controls & clippy graphics, but I doubt that would even exist.

Pretty sure the developer Wicked Witch created two recent AFL games that I've played a fair bit on my iPhone and iPad – 'AFL Gold' and 'AFL Live 2'. Lots of good fun and the graphics weren't bad for the size I was viewing. In terms of the ability to play a fluid game of AFL it did the job. Obvious improvements could be made and they definitely have their limitations but my biggest issue was the fact that you had your fingers all over the screen and that made playing an intricate/complex game quite difficult. With the game being available on Playstation and other platforms this particular aspect will be remedied so I'm really keen to experience it – nothing better than playing as the Dees!

I imagine this edition is the next 'evolution' of these versions so I can only hope they've built upon the experience and made it bigger and better.

The hardest thing with AFL games is getting a good angle and perspective, with such a big ground getting that balance between seeing the play and seeing what is ahead is tough.

Not to mention the multiple actions a player can take both with and without the ball, i.e. pick it up / kick it off the ground / shepherd / tackle the opposition etc etc

I still prefer the life-size game with real players in red and blue jumpers played at the MCG on a Friday night or over the weekend.

Unfortunately we have no control over that and it's hard to rage quit a real game.

praha nails it but the one thing going for it is online play (anyone know if peer to peer connection?). The original NES was unrelenting but a great co-op.

Did anyone see the NMFC Evolution gameplay where a player basically ran end to end ? yikes..

E Games have now been added to the Asian games as a sport

Now we need to get AFL as a sub category of those E games and we are well on our way to global domination

Surprisingly the gameplay looks good.  Players actually have a turning circle unlike every other AFL ever made where you could run in completely unnatural straight lines without needing to turn or change direction. It made tackling a joke.

Are there any good AFL games for mobile? I've played AFL Live 2 which DemonWheels mentioned, not sure I'm willing to for out fork AFL Evolution yet (plus I need a new console).

There's a new one called "Kicking Behinds" on the App Store, give it a look it's good fun.

I think the horrible graphics have put me off, but if the game play is good then I'll be stoked.

Graphics don't worry me after the first 5 minutes on any game. I'll get over that.

The gameplay looks playable from what I've seen, the goal kicking looks way too easy though. Should've brought back the NES goal kicking with the little sticks going ballistic.

Anyone know if it'll be on the PSN store? Or will I have to venture into the real world to waste my money?

i'm not certain it will be on the PSN store as I was poking around on the weekend looking to pre-order and it was not listed. Doubt you will find it there. May have to venture into the sun light.

I checked their Facebook page, apparently it's on the Xbox live store, and will be up on PSN store upon release. Hope that's the case, I'll report back at 00:01 tomorrow night.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
