Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No I can't explain them.

But then again, I can't explain why Hurley got equal most with Oliver.

Do you have an opinion? Or prefer to throw in with whatever the coaches say?

Hurley was clearly BoG at half time imo. 7 intercept marks I think and the main reason we couldnt score

Trac ran him aorund in the 2nd half but I can see why he polled 6.

Tyson was good, playing more outside - 20 effective possessions, 9 marks, 6 score involvements, 9 inside 50s. some shanks stopped him having a great day but he was solid and always gave us an option/outlet

Tyson ran hard up and down the wing all day, found heaps of space and wasn't nearly as bad as people are saying. His kicking was poor but FFS, the kicking in the game was as bad as any game this year. Why single him out?

Melksham was poor for the 3rd consecutive game. He is on thin ice but nobody is challenging for his spot at the moment.

Wagner hasn't played enough minutes in the VFL to justify selection. Being BOG is a great sign though and I suspect he will be in for Melksham after one more week.

Absolute mumbo jumbo bs.

This highlights a big ( for mine ) problem with footy today. This incessant breakdown into non meaningful elements.

So much abouts stats are farcical in so much as the metric has either become subjective and therefore non transferable, nor truly comparable or they are half stats. By this i sggest a disposal is actually not effective if it doesnt actually benefit the play ( as opposed left one player and simply got to another, or simply disposed of without penalty. These only half tell a story.

So ...a pressure act ?

If its about an intent...and not a result....a player might as well be just sneering as his opponent for all the good it will do ?

A pressure act ...is that like half a tackle ?  Is it like trying to corral a player but not really ?

Like contesting a mark but completely in wrong spot...but cobtested !! Sorta not quite.

What defines a successful pressure act from a nearly/not-quite ?

I'll tell you one pressure act JKH cant do currently...thats Scoeboard Pressure. Now that you CAN measure very clearly !!

A pressure act is when you are forced to agree with posts on Demonland so as not to be perceived as having no knowledge of footy, the perception being arrived at by the self appointed experts on Demonland

Have just finished watching the last half of the replay and after all the comments on Tyson I paid special attention to his disposal.

Starting to understand the opinion of some.

Not one kick in the second half was to the advantage of an MFC player. Other than the kicks favouring the opposition they were at best neutral and more often than not were high in the air. They covered distance but in the main did not hurt the opposition. On a few occasions the recipients bought the ball to ground and hard bullocking resulted in a goal.

In his defence he got the ball which is more than some players can claim credit for but he seems to lack the poise, time or speed to break clear and hit up his fellow players. Also the scramble forward kick a la the Dogs is a valued play these days.

Strikes me as not 100% but better (again ) than any likely replacement.

In -            Hogan,     Stretch

Out -       JKH (ommitted), ANB (rest)

Aside from the obvious (but possibly overrated) exception of Gawn, this is our best possible team IMO.

I might be in a minority here but Melksham brings much needed urgency and impacts contests a lot. I think people don't see what he and JKH were bringing defensively for us on the weekend. He also has some toe. I keep hearing Wagner is quick but I didn't see a lot of pace when he played. Melksham is not as bad as people think.

Slightly incorrect.

I believe he kicked a very nice long pass to the advantage of Petracca. Who marked and goaled.

He definitely is not quick. But he shows more composure than Melksham and judges the ball better in the air.

Melksham is an OK player until he has to do anything other than punch the football.

We brought in Frost and Hibberd after 1 VFL game.

Wouldn't surprise if Wagner came in based on that.

missed that ... the commentators didn't call him and on the tablet it was difficult to pick up the player

I did notice that he received a handball in space

Well lets hear it for the "refusal to be pressured act", which a few of us on here are adept at.

Tyson ... he'll be back at Casey in no time.

No he won't. Because you're judging him based on what he's getting wrong. The FD are judging him on what he's getting right.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
