Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MEDICAL ROOM

Melbourne: The Demons got through unscathed, with their luck finally turning after repeated injuries and suspensions to start to the season.

Obviously personal attacks make you feel better, so be it. Do you think TMac has any qualities, and if so, what are they?

I quoted the post from Wiseblood, as it sums up my opinion of T Mac perfectly.

His zoning, flight judgement and interception are among the best in the league for a tall defender, and amongst the best I have ever seen from a tall Dees defender. I'm a big fan. He is the centrepiece of our defence, by quite some margin.

His kicking however, can be absolutely horrendous. Not all the time, but often enough to have an impact on his legacy.

Apologies for any offence.

Webber. I dont give a flying f what the media/footyworld/ or anyone here or there thinks or writes about football ( or much else )

I watch, observe and consider after as a result. T Mac took some excellent marks and executed some great defence. He also often executed his team mates with sloppy kicking and poor decisions.

How he manages , after all this time , to masacre elementary tasks still bewilders me.

I dont know how he fixes this, Should have done so by now for mine.

Arguably our most frustrating player.

An argument where for me he wouldn't even come into the conversation.

All players have faults

lol, I guess you made an exception for me.

I like T.Mac, but I can also fully understand the criticisms of his kicking.

It's possible to do both, tedious or not.

It's more tmacs decisions, he chooses ridiculous options at times and that is where they cost us.

Dunstall mentioned it on the coverage that he chose the hardest of 3-4 options and the option he chose was the on most likely to be turned over and make it easiest to score against us.

That is his most frustrating attribute. If he limited/got that out of his game he would be AA every year.

Yes, all players make mistakes, Tmac causes more frustration as it is the same mistakes in the worst possible area of the ground. And he will make the same mistakes multiple times in the same game.

Other than that, he is a bloody good defender.

Tell me why all the game's commentators (TV and radio) thought he had a great game? What are your thoughts?

Really is that what they r saying?

He had a good game but as I said some of his kicks were direct turnovers.

If he eliminated most of his turnovers then imo he would have a great game.

Dont get me wrong I like TMac but his kicking needs work which is not something new.

Ummm Jason Dunstall consistently got stuck into TMac about 'biting off more than he can chew'. I reckon he said it at least 5 times.

This.

His best is great, but his poor decision making is made so much more noticeable.

Other than rants in the GD threads I doubt many, even those who are critical would drop him.

I thought this might be the game after which Demonland gave rightful praise to Tom McDonald. I now realise that's never going to happen. Those people who continually (zzzzzzzzzzz........) criticise him for his imperfections are clearly unaware that the football world at large sees him as one of our most important players, our most important backmen, and one of the league's best. He got media votes today, but still gets shamelessly and pathetically pilloried on Demonland.

Not by me.. He was very good. I actually like the Pedersen/McDonald combo better because Tommy with his huge tank gets around the ground like Mark Blicavs and he plays like an extra midfield.

Really hope this stay because Tom's work rate and endurance around the ground could be a huge factor for us going forward.

To be honest I'm not a fan of his commentary, hyper critical to all teams, like he never made mistakes as a player. But he was spot on about TMac.

Everyone has their bucket list and as well as an MFC flag mine includes visiting the graves of all Australia's deceased PM's.

Started it off today with a trip to see 5 at the MGC (Melbourne General Cemetery)... well Harold H Holt is not really there but his memorial is closest to the fountain which is somehow appropriate.

Anyway after wandering through the cemetery, reading lots of tombstones and dwelling on one's mortality I headed for Docklands only to find that it seemed  I was still at the cemetery. What a woeful first half.

My seat in the Gods only allowed me to see one end of the ground and frankly the sounds of Go Dyson and wonderful Jobe were getting to me. Accordingly at half time I sought the solace of the standing section behind the MFC cheer squad. Little did I know what was going to unfold. Joy to my old eyes.

For the last quarter I wandered the outer reaches like a lost soul daring to dream until with 10 minutes to go the Bomber faithful gave up and I scored a seat.

Ten minutes of bliss..... Thank you MFC

Now... do it next week as well !!!

Things I've learnt watching this game from the skies at Etihad

1. The TV screens they think are useful are not. I have a bigger tv in my bathroom. Thanks for nothing.

2. Melksham is a double agent who is secretly trying to make us lose games

3. Salem, Watts, Lewis- there's no substitute for class and kicking ability

4. Tyson- just no. His kicking is not even under 6 standard

5. JHK fumbles galore. Goodbye

6. Pedo always comes in and does his best to play a role. And he did. And he helped us win today. Very happy for him!

7. Jetta so deserving of a win for this milestone game

8. Etihad is the worst stadium. The food and facilities in a third world country stadium would beat it hands down

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
