Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

    Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

    Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

    We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

    However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

    The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

    Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

    We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

    WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

    Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It was a win.

It was a Goodwin win

It was good to win

It wasn't a good win

Was an ugly ugly lucky win.

Joe kicks straight. We lost

Please lets not kid ourselves.

Take the points, say thankyou, prepare for the next but it was much closer than the scoreboard suggests.

We did learn how to win an ugly contest possibly. Valuable.

So are you satisfied nor not? I'm confused....

Having to play forward was a blessing, he really stood up having struggled a bit in the midfield lately.

I've been hard on him for a couple of weeks now, but he was dangerous, dangerous, dangerous today

I hope he stays forward and plays deep every game

Having not seen the game, there are a lot of things I'm reading in this thread that sound very positive:

  1. Vince moving into the middle worked not just for Vince, but it seems for Viney, Jones and maybe Tyson too;
  2. Pedersen doing his role, and doing it well it seems;
  3. Watts, Garlett and Hannan clicking as the game went on (with Hogan out indefinitely, we need to find a forward line that can work together in his absence and we scored over 100 today);
  4. Hibberd playing well again;
  5. a settled back six.

Let's hope Vince stays in the middle and we can find enough half-back use out of Lewis, Salem, Melksham, Hibberd and Hunt.

Our second half was very good we kicked 13 goals and worked very hard, I had TMac in our top 5 players, he was the every where man, solid and dependable. We had over 400 possessions and a number of our players had a lot of the ball which means that other players do the hard yards but don't actually chalk up possessions. The first half was an arm wrestle and riddled with turn overs and poor kicking by both sides But having said that a 6 goal win is a good win, especially at Etihad which used to be our burial ground but not any more. I couldn't be happier and we have a number of very good players to come back in. Go Dee's!!!

I've got no doubt that Vince playing in the middle is a huge factor in this.

He's a big bodied midfielder that takes a lot of pressure off the players around him.

Vince in the middle was a throwback to his 2015 days of dominance.

Is he getting too old too stay there? I'm growing a bit tired of his brain fades in defense.

I do like how Goodwin mixes things up a lot. Against Freo, he threw Petracca on ball in the last which nearly won us the game. Today it was the old timers and it worked again.

I wonder what our win loss record would be if we had started playing Pedersen three weeks ago?

5-1 but almost certainly 4-2.

Massive mistake, wasn't it!?  Let's hope we don't miss the 8 by a game or two.  Got it wrong with Weideman, who should have to kick consecutive bags of goals for a month at Casey before he displaces Pedersen.  Heck, I'd have even preferred an undersized Pedersen to Spencer!

Pedo is a mature body, gives a contest, can play anywhere, and he's one of those battlers that is always playing for his AFL life so of course he's going to give 100%.  I wonder why Goodwin had his card marked so early?

I thought Goody did a great job before and during this game. He got selection right and as pedo notes in his post match interview with burgs they worked on their stoppage 'craft' during the week and despite losing the tap outs convincingly won the centre clearances. He got the boys right to play in what must have been a tough week.

During the game i thought his positional moves worked. He put Oliver forward for perhaps the first time this season and it go immediate results. . Vince into the cente worked as did freeing up TMac to roam. Petraaca taking Hurley (who was brilliant i have to say) was clever. And of course getting us reset at half time and playing as we should have all game in the second half was fantastic.

Top job.

What a load of sh... Collingwood played in the same game against Essendon and they weren't cooked .

Us on the other hand played the last half last week with 2 on the bench.

We also didn't have the luxury of resting players and bringing in fresh legs like they did.

Young team/injury's - consistency will come in latter half of '17.

Dissonance is nice.

Who kidding themselves?

In all honesty - it's Adelaide/GWS and then Port/us the rung below. Irrespective of win loss at the moment.

September...lets get serious :)

I'm still convinced the reason why the AFL doesn't schedule us with any home games against Essendon is because of Essendon's refusal to use a proper clash guernsey, and we fall over easily by happily using our white one (currently our Bintang one).

Surely you are not questioning Gil's ability to make a sensible decision and to enforce it. ?

Also Oscar played nearly every minute of the game (99%) game time and had 14 1%ers. Had a few ah poo moments (ANB handball and being out muscled) but much more confident than he was. A good strong backline with the 6 back there.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

    It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
