Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thought Vince was a lot better moving into the midfield in the 2nd half. It's were he should have been playing all along & should stay there.

Vince is the kind of player that makes Viney better.

Viney needs bigger bodies around him, no coincidence he had a great third quarter when this happened.

I thought this might be the game after which Demonland gave rightful praise to Tom McDonald. I now realise that's never going to happen. Those people who continually (zzzzzzzzzzz........) criticise him for his imperfections are clearly unaware that the football world at large sees him as one of our most important players, our most important backmen, and one of the league's best. He got media votes today, but still gets shamelessly and pathetically pilloried on Demonland.

Vince

I think the move to put Bernie, Jones and Lewis in the middle for periods in the second half really steadied us and took some of the pressure off the young guys.

But I still think Vince plays a key role down back and allows Lewis to do more damage up the ground. He has been caught out playing deep in defence but I think he's much more effective as a high halfback/wing while rolling through the middle when we're needing some obvious clearances.

Tyson

I think Dom plays his role well most weeks. Showed today his ability to receive the ball from the in tight contest (from Viney/Oliver mostly) and release the ball for the clearance. He works really well as the outside mid. If he rotates this role with Salem and Lewis we should continue to see it work well.

For the love of god can someone teach TMac how to kick.

Some of his kicks were horrific.

Tell me why all the game's commentators (TV and radio) thought he had a great game? What are your thoughts?

Tmac's biggest problem is he tries to do things he just ain't capable of which is why it is so frustrating. He tries very hard kicks and quite often at times when he shouldn't.

No kidding. And yet he is vitally important to us and an excellent footballer. Try getting your head around that, because he is what he is, he's improving still, and no doubt trying to get even better. Or is that still not good enough?

Tom Mc pulled off some lovely spoils today .

Stopped any chance Frost had of marking cleanly.

You may as well give up 'Webber'.  Some people can't see past their biases or past a few clangers which all players have.  Even today's hero, Pedobear (whom I love) had 8.

I couldn't see the game but heard on ABC that at the start of the 3rd qtr we had 7 in defence and T McD was the 'spare'.  He almost immediately kicked a goal.  Not quite a momentum turning piece of play but really significant for the game.  T Mc more than did his job today.

I might add putting Frost on Daniher for the game and freeing T Mac was a bit of coaching masterstroke.

Webber - no doubt he gets potted more than he should on here.  When he is on he is one of the better defenders in the league.  He reads the play well, backs himself and is rarely beaten one on one.

His decision making, though, leaves a little to be desired which I'm sure you would agree with.  A few times today his kicking really let him down and sometimes he needs to just go with the safer option, but is no different to many others who made glaring errors.  I agree that we should look at his positives more often, but he also gives reason for negatives as well.

Mate, he can still have a great game AND butcher some of his kicks.

You are coming across as quite a know it all.

If he could kick properly, he would be an all Australian starter every year.

He's ranked the second best key defender behind Rance. His bro will join him soon. Just watch.

Every footballer has some imperfections. TMacs good points far outweigh his weaknesses. DO you reckon the type of person he is would not be working on those issues. At least he is trying to set things up. I have criticism for Tyson who seems to "Bomb"at first instance.

If we had 20 Tmacs we would be unbeatable (even with his occasional kicking lapses).

Ther are a lot of clubs who o9wuld gladly trade for him !!!!!  So be pleased he is with us.

Umpiring : Disgusting and inconsistent both ways !!! They are confused with all the grey areas of the game.

And you're just one more to state the obvious. Which has been stated and restated, again and again, incessantly. We all know his limitations, but if you just got your info from that's all he would have. Plain truth, or too know it all?

We should also give credit to the selectors. Playing Oscar may have been a surprise* but playing Oscar and Frost on Hooker and Daniher respectively freed Tom up.

(*I had assumed Oscar had been picked for Frost to play in the ruck.)

And you are whiny and juvenile.

People are free to criticise, obvious or not.

It's only a problem when they are plainly wrong, which in this case, they are not.

Obviously personal attacks make you feel better, so be it. Do you think TMac has any qualities, and if so, what are they?

There were a few positional changes at half time:  Vince, Mcdonald etc

Another was that Petracca took Hurley who had thrashed us in the 1st half,  away from the play and stop him intercepting.  I think he had only 4 marks in the 2nd half.

Virtually all Goodwin's moves worked.

Goodwin comprehensively outcoached Worsfold!

Webber. I dont give a flying f what the media/footyworld/ or anyone here or there thinks or writes about football ( or much else )

I watch, observe and consider after as a result. T Mac took some excellent marks and executed some great defence. He also often executed his team mates with sloppy kicking and poor decisions.

How he manages , after all this time , to masacre elementary tasks still bewilders me.

I dont know how he fixes this, Should have done so by now for mine.

Arguably our most frustrating player.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
