Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So, in defence of ProDee, whose judgement re Pedo has been questioned (and whose judgement re Jack Watts is also in some doubt), one good game does not make a season.  Pedo, like JW, has got to continue to show his worth over the next six weeks to cement his place in the 22.  This week he has shown he (CP) is currently a better bet than Weideman up forward and Watts in the ruck.  Allowing Watts to play forward throughout helped us kick a score that was defendable.  We'll have to wait and see if this performance is able to be sustained.  I hope (and think) that it is.

Whenever Pedo has played he has demonstrated that he is best 22. Anyone disagree? He just hasn't, for reasons of injury and prejudice against age, been able to string a season together. Thrilled he'll get a block of games to re prove himself.

I tend to agree overall (not sure about "Whenever Pedo has played he is best 22") but it's a fair bit more competitive now.  Like you, I'm thrilled that he'll have an extended run in the ones but it will do him no harm to have to compete for his spot.  I'll certainly be happier when this criterion is seen to be applied across the whole playing group as, like many of you, I think he should have been selected three or four weeks ago.  I'm also interested to find out how long Jack Trengove has to wait for another chance given that, in my opinion, he provides more leadership and disposal efficiency than Bugg and appears to be no slower.  Anyway, good on him for sticking it out!

"Pro" is big and ugly enough to back up his own wrong assertions with his own tough guy, no compromise lies and justifications.

You act as if you have followed the team since March.

We have known how Pedo takes a grab and competes even when he was fat.

Pedersen's game was fantastic, I hope he continues this form and he gets the job done.

It still doesn't change my view that he's a battler, and that he'll struggle to find a place in the side once all the injured talls return. We will see though.

The crowing going on in this thread is pretty ridiculous.

Goodwin is the third MFC coach in a row not to back Pedersen as a first choice tall. If I'm wrong, so be it - I'm in good company and it means he's playing good, consistent footy and keeping another good player out of the side.

If Pedersen's a battler, then what do you make of Weidemann? The so called "crowing" is because so many of us were frustrated that Weidemann, who was offering us very little last year and the start of this year, was gifted games ahead Pedersen.

Pedersen was demonstrating all the basics of football (competing, marking, kicking, clean hands, pressure) at a higher level than Weidemann currently is, and we were also winning. Weidemann will become a good player when he matures, but many of us felt that Pedersen currently offers more.

Many of also think that Spencer is a plodder that shouldn't still be on our list, but you constantly go into bat for him. We each have different opinions, which is the purpose of a forum. Don't disrespect others views just because that don't align with your own.

If Pederson was ignored by 3 coaches then they were plainly wrong

Any coach the continued to pick Dawes should have been sacked as it was some of the worst selection decisions in my memory

So much for coaches and really you think Neeld had any idea

I notice he was in the Essendon coaching box on Sunday I wish Essendon good luck with that decision

Respected assistant coach prior to getting the gig, and is still a professional in the game. Obviously he was a dismal failure as a senior coach (so was Brendan McCartney), but he must be doing something right.

The biggest thing i took out of last season was beating Hawthorn and then having Jordan Lewis tap us on the shoulder and ask for a trade our way.

Winning breads winners.

We should be picking best available and trying to win every game rather than selecting players who might be in our next premiership side.

And Pedo was Herculean in that fourth quarter. Was super influential to the final outcome.

I don't think too many here believe Pedersen to be any more than a journeyman. He has however overcome a shoulder operation and changed body shape over the pre-season and now (for one game at least) played a pivotal part in a must win game. I imagine, like me, many posters are probably feeling pretty happy for him.

Also there are one or two posters who were dismissive of Cam's chances of making any impact at AFL level and of those posters who suggested that he could.

Im guessing that he may struggle to maintain this form but if he continues to play his role then we will all be happy little roosters

dc, changing an alias coveniently hides all these embarrassing judgement calls. Just ask his nemesis 'Scoop', who backed Neeld all the way to the end under a different name

yeah, i don't mind people get it wrong from time to time, after all it's only opinion, but when you go on and on about it ad nauseum and belittling any opposing views then you deserve to get called out

Pederson has been and always will be depth, there was a period in Roos's first year I believe where he played pretty decent football and had a good run of games. But he's pretty limited so when we have our full compliment of talks back I would expect him to be relegated back to Casey.

But for now, in his first game back at least, he has done exactly what was asked of him and probably exceeded expectations. He's just got to keep battling as best he can and try to run off his bigger opponents to make them accountable.

Does he give us more of a chance to win games? For mine yes and has all season, even though it has been 1 game this season he clearly does.

Outside of that it firmly sits on Peds shoulders for the number of games he has played at the Dees, others have quoted him from a couple of years ago where he was given the same ultimatum as this presason. This year it appears penny and pounds have finally dropped.

I said it after the Freo game when I was having a bit of a vent at the second pathetic game of output from the Weid in a row, that it was hardly like Weid demonstrated anything in the JLT series asides from being a segul, gathering easy over the top handballs in the goal square.  That was probably a bit harsh, semi emotional with respect to the Freo game, given in retrospect he was injured fairly badly early that game and yes he did do a 'couple' of other nice efforts on the side in the JLT (one sheppard against Carlscum stuck out) - but that was it.  He had been playing mostly on potential in terms of what he might produce at AFL level based on some of his VFL showings (which I'll admit, I have seen none of).

A few here have stated that Pedersen is limited and or not an AFL footballer, which is just total crap as far as I am concerned.  Have seen him play in many games where he has definitely played to the required standard and though he may have the odd bad game, what player doesn't (particularly for the MFC over the last 2 - 4 years).  Whilst he may never be a Carey like superstar, there are not too many of them going round and I think a fair synopsis would be to say that he contibutes his fair share to the team effort as an average player, releases the stars like Watts and Hogan to provide the big fire power/finesse and I don't think you can ask much more than that.

Bit harsh!  March 1957, in fact.  All I was trying to say was that I think it's great that Pedo has finally been given the chance to cement a place in the best 22 and we will all be better placed to put ProDee's 'spud' comments in perspective in a couple of weeks.  Personally, I think Goodwin has made a couple of bad errors since taking over from Roos including the pre-season public treatment of Jack Watts and the Pedo/Weid selection farce.  Having said that and for what it's worth, overall I think Goodwin's doing pretty well and mistakes are going to happen.  I don't think anyone should be above criticism by the likes of us however MFC employees need to set the bar a bit higher than we do. These are just my opinions so there is no need to be defensive on anyone's behalf.

Just give this campaigner a contract and be done with it!

In all seriousness i know Jacobs had 70 hitouts but they were completely useless. I thought Pedo shut him out of the game. Not once did i thought during the game that Jacobs was starting to worry us.

Keep it up Pedo!

How good was that long goal he kicked.

His work around the ground has been first class all year.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
