Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

More importantly now Vince and Lewis lack the agility to side-step defenders rushing at them front-on, forcing them to bomb it high and long as the kick it around  the corner just to get the kick away cleanly.

Their "precise" kicking skills have been rendered irrelevant.

Have the coaches told him to stop taking on the tackler every opportunity?  Gets caught so often and regularly kills our momentum by not choosing the first or most obvious option.    He thinks he is Dustin Martin out there trying to crash through everyone.

If he played within himself and stopped trying to do things he isn't capable of doing, he would be a very good player.  So frustrating.

It's simply because he refuses to use his right side.

Whether that be handball or kick. I mean, clearly he doesn't possess a 'right' side, but on so many occasions he could make a handball on his right but decides to keep trying to get in a better position with his left, by which time he is caught.

Do not rate him one iota right now.

Bloody awful game again.  7 clangers and the ones that aren't are kicks to contest. Always turns one way because he can't kick on his right and looks to handball first.  Fails to go when needed, especially the nothing effort in the last 30 seconds of the game.

He was one of our best today and one of our best kicks today also. He wins a lot of ball and is often involved in our scoring chains. Our midfield is better with him out there as both a ball winner and a link man. Loves the odd long goal too!
He's not played his best footy yet this year (his best is top 5 in our BnF multiple times by the way), but he's been decent-good and is easily in our best 22. He's apparently become a whipping boy on here recently, but we've got far greater problems and worse players out there than Dom. People need to take their blinkers off when assessing him.

He was good today. His kicking is flat, penetrating, and actually a little underestimated. The problem is that when he makes a mistake, it isn't just a metre here or there, it's a shank that often costs us going the other way. Luckily there was little of that today.

He must hate his team mates judging by how regularly he bandpasses to them as they are about to be mown down!

Amen. Slow bodied and slow minded.

He can get the ball and he can use the balls. He is just a slow and often dumb decision maker.

I’m not a massive fan but he was ok today.

He’s not going to reach the highs of Jones, Lewis or Vince as a midfielder and Viney, Oliver, Petracca (when playing in the guts) and Brayshaw have all gone past him as a player through the centre.

It was his best game for the year was today and the standard of high 20’s touches and a snag should be his minimum. Still needs to improve there with his use however.

If we do get Gaff and/or ANB & Stretch come on he will be in danger. But that’s all a big “if”

Id still rather him back rotating through the square and groom Hunt on his wing as Tyson looks very slow out there

What is great about him though is his ability to take a mark and a contested one at that out on the wing. It was something we sorely missed when he was out. 24 years of age, still under 100 games, there is still growth in him (and hopefully a good kicking coach).

Why is that funny? Posters here to have it in for him. The numbers show he was one of our best today.

Top 5 for disposals, most marks, top 3 for metres gained, top 5 for inside 50s, top 5 for pressure acts, top 3 for intercepts. Those are good numbers that cannot be argued. He was listed in our best. It was by no means a great game, he misfired a few times, but disposal efficiency of 78% was one of the best amongst our mids. Anyone saying he was poor today shows no ability to understand the game.

He's no superstar, but a great midfielder to have in our rotation and is unarguably best 22. Perfect second string midfielder.

That was clear when you took pleasure in him missing round 1.

Now we have less injuries, a stronger side and are winning. DOm Tyson is a key reason for that.

Suck it up Stevetheprincessjordan.

Only behind Jones and Olver as our best extractor. Often when he gets holding the ball its because he has got in it in heavy traffic and rather than hold on to it tries to release it. When he does so successfully he often triggers a scoring chain.

Frustrating or not was unquestionably one of our better players today.

I look forward to dong an AFL stats pro review

I didn't watch the game live which makes it harder to see the defensive work rates and break downs but I thought from the TV he was ok in that regard.

His clean hands to get the ball once again were a massive tick. People underestimate how valuable that is.

But he was slow to use it and got caught (sometimes pinged unfairly IMO). Kicking was the usual hit and miss and not a lot of creative use.

Again, it comes back to the fact I won't criticise an inside clearance player too much when he's playing on the wing all game. Not sure why they can't spread his playing time through the middle and half forward a bit more and it's interesting to see what happens with Viney back. But for now if Tyson breaks even then there's plenty of others who can win their match ups.

He was ok, a contributor to a midfield that was on top for most of the game. I wouldn't say he was great today and people are certainly right that he tries to do more, or more impressive, things than he is really capable of at the moment.

His clangers are happening between his ears and I can't help wondering if he's still a little haunted by, on the one hand, being one of the first Giant 'rejects', and on the other hand that amazing finish to a season he had in his first (or second?) season with us.

Lol, nice one Wrecker.

He's got to be one of the most ineffective "prolific" ball winners within the AFL.

Numbers mean so little when you are doing so much wrong when you dispose of it. I still can't understand why some posters don't understand that concept when quoting a player on his possession count.

So he disposed of it at 78% efficiency? I have a few questions. Taking aways handballs firstly. Of the targets he hit by foot, how many were under 20 metres to a free player? And how many were under pressure?

How many of his 30 + metre kicks hit their target? Or how many were kicked to the advantage of his team mate? Or how many were kicked directly to the opposition?

How many of his inside 50's were of value?

He is still a dilemma, at times silky skills but at other times looks ordinary. 7 turnovers for the match only beaten by Brayshaw on 8 and in in the first half he couldn’t hit the side of a barn.

I hope Tyson makes it and becomes an important part of the team going forward, he has all the skills.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
