Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis

Some of the comments here honestly .. Lewis contribution thus far has been great ..  barring  his striking charge his experience & hardness  & teaching the young group & even older players what culture is required to win  4 flags! His possessions continue to be in our top group of players ... honestly don't know what some supporters expect he is only 1 of 22 & plenty of others who hardly touched the ball!

Pretty important today.

No surprise. The guy is a champ and we're getting to pointy end. His incredibly brave acts in final qtr alone have hopefully put to bed some ridiculous commentary on here about him not going in hard enough. Arguably our best performer over the last month.

We would have won about 6 games for the year without him.

A huge get

at the point where St. Kilda got to within 4 points of us, i thought we were gone

Jordan obviously didn't feel the same way and he was actually able to do something about it. I just had to stress out!!

It's that time of year, he can smell the grass. September is coming.

And thats where Jordan Lewis does his thing.

He will be salivating at the prospect of a cut throat elimination final.

He was brave in the last quarter and was good all game.  But the commentary on him during the year has also been right, he hasn't done it much at all and the fact you've needed to highlight this actually proves the point.

And whilst I agree he's been close to our best player over the last month the fact people are talking about him firing up at "the pointy end of the year" is a pretty serious criticism.  You don't need to say that about the other players in the team and the reality is you need maximum output from all players all year. In effect what you're saying is he's been cruising until now and that isn't good.

But no argument about his value yesterday, he was very good.

That was his best game for the club. He's been one of our best players in every game for the past month. There was a hard ball get he won in the last quarter when the game was on the line that possibly won us the momentum and match. He can smell finals action and is playing accordingly now. He might not have had as good a year as some were hoping, but he's come good at the right end of the season and is showing his leadership and maturity now.

Bring on September!

Drawn a long bow there, VP, but glad you're coming around - in effect.

To me, Lewis has been a consistent performer all year. Wouldn't surprise me if he's around the 5-10 mark, if not better, in B&F.

I pointed out his efforts of the last month, in particular, not to highlight that he's been cruising beforehand - far from it - but to show that he's been one of the few who have stood up during a time when many of his teammates have dropped off.

I remember reading an article by Chris Judd talking about how the game really slows down from the start of the season to September.

It's a long season and that is when guys like Lewis start to come into their own.

He could be so important for us should we feature in September.

Delusional in a pathetic attempt to prove a point. No credence given to the fact that Lewis has been a very good performer all season and has been excellent recently perhaps given that he is fully integrated with the game plan, team mates and culture of the club?To assert that he has 'cruising' until now is errant nonsense. Maybe u could pot all greats of the game that bring their very best at finals time. Conversely, if he wasn't performing now you'd be saying he hasn't got the bottle for the big games. Laughable.

His form over the past month has been good as VP said; but I don't think he was instrumental in resetting us when the saints got close.  They should have got in front, and would have gone on with it if they had IMO.

I think he gets a lot of cheap handball-receives from Gawn and Co.  Like Montagna, he sprints for an easy HR.  That no doubt has inflated his stats over the winter.

I still think the biggest winners of the 3-year deal will be Al Clarkson and Jordie Lewis.

Great thing about the game and these forums are that time will tell and it will be hard to hide.

Lewis has been huge. People who cant see this are just butt hurt that we didnt get a guy in his prime. Has been more consistant than Viney and played more games than Jones. Top 5 b and f i suspect on the back of a very strong 2nd half of the year. Hibbo will also be up there, massive impact from both of them.

Interesting the commentators were saying he's slowing down and losing his touch, right before he put in one of the most important quarters of his time at Melbourne. If we make finals, he will be HUGELY important to us. He will be one of the players to get the young players to maintain their focus when the pressure is on.

Melksham has been great too.  Our recruiting has done a total 180 since the Roos era began.

Lewis has played well in the last two weeks, but I still think giving him a three-year contract was a mistake. The footy world has been highly critical of Collingwood’s decision to give Wells three years on similar money, but I see strong similarities with Lewis and Melbourne. While Lewis has had more impact this season, we need to assess both deals in 2019.

Wells has hardly played.

We wouldn't have got lewis iof not for three years.

I would back the footy dept over you any day.

Lewis also brings nous. When Gawn was required to leave the ground because of the blood rule, Pedersen ran from deep in defence to take the ruck duties. Lewis looked around saw Pedersen moving and immediately ran back to bolster the defence. He was the only player to react in that way. It makes me wonder what might have happened if he wasn't out there. Would the rest of the team be waiting for an instruction from the runner leaving us one short in defence?

Just admit it, TGR (and your naysaying brethren), that nothing less than Lewis winning the Bluey trophy, Norm Smith medal and his 5th premiership medallion - all in the same year - will convince you that he has been a good pick-up by the MFC.

Don't worry, you'll get your gotcha moments, your "I told you so" moments, soon enough with his next fumble, missed handball, slight slip-up or whatever other supposed sign of terminal decline you wish to focus on and continually peddle.

In the meantime, perhaps you could acknowledge, respect and - heaven forbid - even enjoy what Lewis has already offered the club.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
