Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Massive yawn.

Welcome back Martin.  We have missed the ultimate sunshine poster.  When it rains, you are hiding under a rock.  5 minutes of sunshine, and you are beating your chest.

Interesting that Luke Hodge announced his retirement today.  I thought he has JL for leadership, kicking, speed and not going to ground.  Maybe Todd might ring him about 2018 at the dees?  That'll mean we just need Ben Button so that we can field a side in the Villa Maria Cup.

Too many people here think that when players like him don't get 30 touches every week they're useless. Completely baffling lack of understanding from some. He removed any possibly of a loss last night.

Absolutely. He talks more now than he does actions, but is just as useful

I'm far more of a supporter of Lewis than Vogon or TGR but I find it funny how many people point to him getting ANB to pass him the ball in the final minute is proof that he's a star. It was absolutely a good piece of leadership from him but that on its own doesn't really do much to support the argument that he's adding much to the side.

FWIW, I thought he played a lot better yesterday than in previous weeks. He had one abysmal turnover that reeked of a Vince-like lack of care, but he copped a lot of flak from not just the fans but the Carlton players, physically, and unlike last time he wore it properly and focused on getting the ball and playing a role as an inside midfielder which we sorely needed.

Boy he goes to ground a lot.

I noticed he went to ground a lot with a number of other players in his back also. He does go to ground as a lunge or desperate act often as well.

His experience means that he understands when to stay out and receive the loose ball and when to throw himself into the action. A lot of his real value is like Watts bing in the right place when needed. His teammates are starting to learn that from him.

I'm starting to really like him.

Lewis is about done.
Was hoping we'd get a couple good years from his 3 but I'm lowering my expectations to this year.

How do we see things so differently?

Last night's match was easily his best match for MFC.

Totally agree...has played all his career with one team where he wouldn't even have to think but he would know their games inside out.....doesn't matter how good you are....it takes time to fit into a new team and game plan....am hoping we will see his game improve as he becomes more comfortable with his team mates & gameplan

Lewis has been solid since round 13 and is stepping up exactly when we need him to.

No point stressing about next year yet.

He was very good last night and did his bit in a midfield missing a number of key players. Has had a decent few weeks, hopefully he is just starting to gear up for finals!

I don't remember saying that...

Look, why devour him after he plays his best game? He has played some solid footy before this too.

I just don't get it. You want him to contribute his fair share? Check. You want him to step up withou the skippers? Check.

Maybe you want an easy scapegoat? Cheque?

If Lewis hadn't of played we would have been pumped.

He was our best, and provided much needed leadership to stem the bleeding when momentum was against us.

We're all in the opinion game here and my opinion is that Lewis is about cooked.
Couldn't care less you got your panties in a bunch and want to be a fanboy smart ...... Alec.

Lewis has been a great pickup. Great game on the weekend too. Was never brought in to be our best player, but hes a wise hand and makes a valuable contribution on and off the field.

I rank Lewis number 17 on our list, however in the last quarter in a close game want him on the field. Carlton game, ANB kick to him to ice the time and game, smart experienced play. Pity he missed Freo game may have made the difference that day.

Finals time want him on the field, so he shares his experience, positions players on the field.

Next year he is likely number 22 on the list, but his knowing how to win, will still be valuable.

If we didn't have Lewis next year, I would take Hodge for a year! Hawthorn still have many experienced premiership players, that's why Hodge can go, they don't have enough youth and talent.

Goodwin & the FD have shown they know what their doing this year. To have the key injuries we've had since half way through round 3 till now yet still be in the 8 is a great effort.

Just look at Port hardly an injury all year, Richmond have basically had their four best (Martin, Rance, Riewoldt & Cotcin) play every game, Adelaide not many key players injured, Cats Selwood, Dangerfield & Hawkins hardly missed a game, GWS the exception with great depth. Even the Swans who are now on fire, were 0-6 when they had key injuries early in the year.

When we are in the eight playing our first final for ten years this September, Lewis will be worth his spot in the 22!

Every credible observer in the AFL would agree with you, as would Goodwin and his entire coaching team, and all of the players on the list.

To suggest that Lewis has been anything but a great pick up for this club is simply pig-headed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
