Sure there are a few mongrels in the AFL, coaches included,but to suggest they go and target another players head who they know to have a brain injury is beyond belief.

I was thinking the same thing. Why not just toe the usual line of media talk. He sort of half did that.

I think it might have something to do with the fact it didn't look severe, like the poor Clarke boys one, but the symptoms did. Sort of like he was informing members and supporters that as innocuous as it seemed, it really wasn't. Factor in also that Braysh has been getting information and advice from all the medicos around him. Brain science is still very much in its infancy, the best people out there still can't give him a straight answer for why his concussions are affecting him this way and, say, Johnathan Brown's annual facial obliteration didn't seem to curtail his football. Is it hard to imagine that maybe they've said to him, "we've been cautious... and the best we can hope for is that you go out there and symptoms simply disappear." Then just a few minutes in, medium sized bump, and he loses concentration, feels nauseous. Coach sees this, is aware there is going to be footage. Speaks to parents and most of all sees Gus' face. Maybe "it's not good" is referring to the fact that Gus was shattered emotionally? Bloody hell I would be. The writing's on the wall. Maybe he was told after the last one, "Hey Gus, this is it... we're confident you'll go out and never have this problem again, but if you DO suffer, then we're pulling you for X amount of weeks." Hence his and his family's reaction.

Shame on the posters here whining at demonlanders' genuine concern for a young kid who maybe has to be protected from himself and his own courage. Noone's claiming they know what's happening medically. They're claiming that in their own opinion, they'd rather see Braysh miss 2017 if there's any CHANCE he can make a full recovery. I for one am satisfied (if a bit shattered) if he never pulls on the Red and Blue again. It's not worth it. Naturally it's his choice and that of his family, and I'd be pumped if he bounced back in two weeks and was unaffected, if that's what they felt was the right thing to do. In the meantime, if it's the worst possible diagnosis, which we've seen one of already this year... then I'll accept it. Nothing wrong with that. And nothing wrong with suggesting it. Pull your heads in.

Would not be surprised if his concussion issues are linked to that neck injury he sustained a couple seasons ago. It was rather a strange  and unusual injury and he has never been the same since.

So you know the guy and his coach and know for a fact he targeted Gus? Cause if he did, don't you think he would've got more than 1 week. My guess is that he'd be done possibly for life for targeting a player with concussion issues.

That is quite possible a de c. A concussion can apparently occur from any bodily impact that causes the head to move violently.

“Mild concussion is how I would describe it. So far his response has been consistent with that diagnosis and I am sure he will have to go through the tests tomorrow,” Mark Brayshaw told the Herald Sun.

“He didn’t lose consciousness and it was a fair knock. It was part of the game and nothing untoward and it is just dreadful luck.

“I was there and saw the hit and anyone else would have been stunned and had the same reaction. It is just really bad luck.

“What happens now is up to the club but he seems to be OK. He could be worse.”

Certainly, he would be worried about his son but it doesn't sound like he wants Gus to hang up his boots.  I'll stick with him until we here otherwise.

Still think that weird neck injury he sustained may be the root cause of his concussion problems. Googling neck injuries and concussion brings up a lot of converging info. He could have suffered permanent damage with that injury. He was a gun in the making before then and lost it since.

You might be on to something....I have a bad neck from an old injury and now its so sensitive to any contact to my head or anything around here (eg my five yo launching herself off the couch onto me).....touch it wrong and I get referred nerve pain, sickness, double vision etc for days

The club are likely going to give him time off again because of the knock on the weekend. I hope there is some further treatment, research or opinion they can seek.
Angus is a talented and driven kid. We invested a lot in him taking him with pick 3. Hopefully he can overcome the concussion issues with further guidance and treatment, as he would obviously be an important player for us in the future if he can make the most of his footballing ability in the red and blue. If the risk to his health is too great though, then he must do what is best for his long term health. Health always comes first.

I don't think it's time he hung up the boots just yet at only 21 years old, but if he keeps suffering further head damage in the future then it's best he stops playing for his own health.

Head damage (or injury) and concussion are not necessarily the same thing. You can have the former without the latter.
