Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Angus Brayshaw Concussion Issues

He's had the grand total of 3 concussions.

One was when a teammate kicked a ball into the back of his head as he was running forward of the play, i.e. freak accident.

That leaves two concussions.  Did you see either of those ?

Even taking the concussions out of it Brayshaw still lacks awareness. He doesn't slow leading into contests, he only has one speed, doesn't adjust his reactions based on others - which is important in today's game (not so much in the 80's). With the constant rule changes the game is becoming nuanced, and if players continue to go at one speed with their head down - they need to be aware of their surroundings. More than ever these type of players are exposed IMO. Not to single out Brayshaw, but I did say the same about Viney when he used to go in bull at a gate - before he made adjustments. Brayshaw needs to make adjustments now more than ever, as he can't afford anymore head knocks. He should be slowing right down entering contests, not only will it lessen the chance of greater impact should he be hit, but it will give him better time to think also.

Walters from Ballarat gets 1 week from VFL MRP.

The hit isn't as sinister as indicated in the Casey thread.  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-24/walters-hit-with-onematch-vfl-ban-for-brayshaw-hit  "Walters laid a late bump on Brayshaw in Saturday's VFL clash against Melbourne affiliate Sandringham, with a clash of heads resulting in the young midfielder's concussion".

But it does seem to have been late so a penalty is appropriate in my book.

I guess concussion from a head clash does seem to be in the 'bad luck' category along with being hit by the ball as unlucky.

We have a great record of supporting and caring for our players with significant injuries: Salem, Hogan, Petracca, Hunt, JKH.  I'm confident Gus will get back to the great form we saw in his first year and the coaches will work with him on any issues he might have in the way he plays.

Continuously getting concussed kind of takes the luck out of it.

Dean Kemp & Sean Dempster put that theory to bed. FCS

Hope 1st & foremost his health is ok...

Our club continues to have bad luck with early picks either from injury or not working out...

Hogan- back & missed a year

Petracca- knee missed a year

Trengove- foot missed over 12th mths & all he ever play again?

Don't need to mention the failed early picks!

The thing is, Oliver is being continually lauded by the coaching department for his acceleration into packs.

Oliver is very alert around a contest though. But as we seen in the Rioli incident last year, Oliver isn't exempt from taking a head knock at times. No doubt Oliver would have learnt something from that incident. He looked to of tweaked his game a little. He is more upright this year.

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2017-04-27/injury-update-david-misson

Misson update on Angus:  He had a few symptoms early this week so had his first run today and felt really good.  It is expected to have a normal training week next week and play the following weekend:rolleyes:

From past Plapp reports he has some things to work on but look forward to him getting back to the seniors and consolidate his spot.

Just saw the footage on fox footy. Taken out after kicking it like Ziebells hit on Cloke but into the back of the head, massive whiplash, went down like a sack of potatoes. The player got 2 weeks at the tribunal they said.

One week accepted.

Hayden Walters – North Ballarat Football Club

AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Walters for engaging in rough conduct against Casey Demons player Angus Brayshaw during the second quarter of the VFL Round 2 match, Casey Demons vs North Ballarat on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.

Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore North Ballarat have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a one match sanction.

Outcome – accepted one match sanction

Angus received a light concussion last week.  He is physically fine, however, he has some mental issues getting his head over the ball and going hard following his multiple concussions. The club has told him he is in the best 22 but will not play him seniors until he defeats this.

Are you kidding me? How does this constantly happen?!? Is it bad luck or something else???

It's gotta be the way he plays and his awareness. He's hard at the ball, but so are many of our midfielders.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
