Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bernie Vince Re-Signs for 2018

I'd like him to stick around for another year or so as he is still a class player.  That being said, we've reached the point where we have the depth to cover his loss should he decide he needs to go home.  If he does leave us, all we can do is think him for joining a club in such a shocking state and helping to build us up to the point where we are considered a legitimate contender.  I wish him well regardless.

Who's Emily?

Some Sheila with a list - friend of Gillard I believe, and she comes from Adelaide so it must be true.  "There will be no Vince at Melbourne whilst I am on a parasitic parliamentary pension"

While I disagree that he is 'finished', he is coming towards the end.

Not a big deal if he retires. Even better if we got a third rounder in return.

Won't get anything in return if he retires, NC.

Doesn't matter Ron, Dazzle says he's finished.

Personally I'd be disappointed, he was terrific against the Saints and has played with a hideous toe since.

You have issues.

This topic is completely different to what i started.

Personally i don't believe in this rumour because of his business interest in real estate. But he can do the exact same thing in Adelaide aswell. If his missus is getting extremely homesick then whats to say that Bernie decides to retire at years end.

He probably does want to move back to SA..............when his career's finished!  That is more likely to be the end of next season or at a pinch the season after. Doubt very much it will be the end of this season. Unless pushed by a very unconvincing contract extension offer.

One of the most likeable footy personalities I've seen. Has been an awesome ray of optimism in the darkest days when he first arrived. Go Bernie. Hope to see at least another 1 or maybe 2 seasons. Job done by then.

Emily's a cool chick, give her a break. ?

Doubt the rumour is talking about pre-retirement though. And even if it is, I doubt either of Adelaide or Port would want him now anyway.

Yep, Emily's okay.

Her Dad's apparently super connected at Port.

'Nat Fyfe's thin black headband has become synonymous with his playing style' - huh?

The AFL should ban the Hun from reporting on football.

This was accidentally posted in the wrong thread.

Or maybe it wasn't?

The plot thickens.

I actually think I know Emily, all BS aside. If it's the girl I think it is, I'm serious about her being a good chick.

Hope the Bernie stuff is BS though.

Bernie said he'd go home to SA when his football days were over, he's a South Australian lad and that's fair enough.

Personally I'd like to see him play again, at least next year, we still don't have a lot of experienced players and he's still one of our better players, we seem to want to write off players on here if they have a bad game or two. Put Bernie back in the action and he'll be ok, his kicking was one of his strengths when he crossed over to us and he doesn't have a problem finding the ball.

Bern gets the ball to his foot faster than any player I've seen before and this may not suit the new game plan, perhaps that's why he's not playing midfield now, maybe the fast kick out of the centre doesn't suit.

He played a sensational game against Dangerfield a few years ago and since that time he's crossed the line a bit more than he should, he just needs to get his discipline back.

Not to put a dampener on a great win yesterday & sitting nicely in 6th spot BUT does anyone else think Bern is cooked ? He played well running with Sloane a few weeks ago but he's seemed to have lost a yard of pace, he's decision making & execution is horrible lately.. That simple chip kick that he missed resulting in a goal, the little paddle backwards late in the game in defensive 50.. Yeah in isolation they are only a couple of errors but I'm finding myself nervous when he goes near the ball now which was usuall the complete opposite, I wouldn't be suprised if he is out of the best 22 come seasons end

I agree he had a poor game yesterday. I remember one play where Oliver found him with a beautiful handball and instead of kicking long into the forward line he tried to go back and fluffed the kick.

I think he plays better when he uses his long kicking. Should be played more half forward I think.

Don't think he is cooked though.

He is too bloody handsome to live in Adelaide.

I think he will get a job on the T.V.

After he has finished his contract.

No harm in resting him now and then over the next 1.5 seasons.

I remember when Adelaide dropped Vince for some minor indiscretion, and I had the pleasure of watching him play SANFL. I think he had over 50 touches. He was far too good for that level and I remember thinking this guy is a footballers footballer. He was just a ball magnet that day. It is mostly for that reason that I see Vince playing a few more years at our club. I know he may look cooked at the moment, and you aren't the first to mention it - I have heard it on big footy as well. But Vince is a pure footballer IMO, and it is only a matter of time until he comes good. I will say, I am surprised that he is so down in form atm though. It is worrying, but I have faith he will come good.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
