Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bernie contracted for another year. Just reported on SEN

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-09-21/vince-signs-on-for-2018-season

Was hoping he wouldn't get another contract, but not surprised.

Was a very good player when we needed it, but struggles and has lost a lot of penetration in his kicking now.

Don't have a problem with this. He won't play too much through the midfield, unless we require a tagger, I would like to see him playing forward rather than back as he is decent shot on goal.

He would be aware there is a good chance of playing for Casey, ie no guarantees of seniors!.

If it means we are still in the development stage where we need leaders around the club I can understand that.
If it means we are in a winning phase where we can carry an older guy in the 2's who can come in a do a job I get that.

If they thing he's actually still in the best 22 we are in trouble.

Well done Bernie! could surprise a few next year.  He has been an inconsistent player all through his career - probably 3 outstanding seasons, a few good, a few average.

I reckon he has another good one left, sit him on the wing/HHF

i could be wrong he wasn't dropped and was best 22 all year, so what's gonna change over summer? recruit a few guns in?

We are rumoured to be interested in one of the best half backs in the comp. Young fella, name rhymes with Snake Beaver.

Otherwise he's not going to get any faster or more reliable by foot and we've got Hibberd, Hunt and Jetta to play down back, hopefully we keep Brayshaw at half back, it's a great spot for him, I really hope we keep Salem and I'd like to see Joel Smith play more senior games if he's fit and healthy.

Not sure he can play wing or half forward. If he's a first choice option in the team other than for select tagging jobs I'm not convinced we'll have made progress.

Bernie mentioned earlier in the year that he intended to play for as long as he could, even if that meant mentoring young players in the twos in his last year. I like the attitude - no denial, just acceptance that father time will eventually catch up.

On this year's trajectory, that ought to be 2018, but anything could happen and I'm happy to have him about for another year. It would be nice if he could bring up the 100 MFC games - only 17 to go!

Bernie is very comfortably best 22! As for kick-ins, don't the detractors watch other AFL teams... all the kick-in specialists stuff up once in a while. Bernie has a few bloopers but offsets this by being a genuine hard nut who can unsettle the star performers in other teams. He probably needs to be relieved of the high-pressure defensive stuff occasionally. Bernie has a lot to offer as a forward (in small doses). Being a competitive beast, he thrives on a challenge. Haters, keep telling him he is washed-up and we'll get another decent three years out of him!

I think he really struggled in the second half of the year and his body and mind have lost a lot of the speed they once had.  Needs to realise he's not carrying the team anymore and not let the frustration get to him- we don't benefit from him flopping at slight contact or throwing elbows behind the play.

He's got plenty of credits in the nacnk though, so no surprises in his extension.  I wish him luck!

Good stuff Bernie. I recall a while back on 360 he said he would be happy to play at Casey as required should he be re-signed.

An excellent club-man albeit rascal!

Happy with this. Bernie is a good footballer and when he signs for another year and becomes depth in 2019 we will know we've arrived

I hope we improve so much in 2018 that he is depth next year PSD

Into his 30's and he needs to get himself super-fit to excel.  He'll probably know that though through self-awareness or he'd be getting people into his ear.

There is just no way of cruising ... also, we need a smattering of old-heads (who can play) to balance out the 22.

I wish him well.

Jake Lever is no Bernie replacement. Lever will partner O Mac or Frosty as the talls down back

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
