Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How long will this last?

A 50 % win rate headed into Round 5. Its as if the crystal balls of the AFL knew all along that Melbourne were nothing but a mist for  2017 and the ANZAC clash with Richmond would all but seal our fate for this season.

I for one would have sincerely hoped that the perennial die hard optiMUSTS such as Taz chromzoneloss Nasher would be waxing lyrical with a newfound hope by now. Alas is not to be; however a good yarn on C7 on whether HD or SD is what it takes seems to alleviate the numbness of its despair.

Old will no doubt raise one ugly burp of discontent about this post; but it sure as hell wont win us a flag anytime soon.

Any suggestions lads...other than the tender confusion of expression of a  clueless brood?

Daz 36 and a few others (alas a few) seem to know what's going on.

Just not good enough MFC!!!

Your condition has deteriorated badly in your time away, Rangie.  I haven't the faintest what this post is about.  I think there's a shot at me in there somewhere because I saw my name, but I'm not offended because frankly, it went flying over my head.

Get well soon mate.

It struck me as impossible to envisage that by Round 7 we may only boast 2 wins.

Unlike Roos, Goodwin doesn't have, at this stage, the maturity to project the kind of self belief Roos had ( and still has) .

Therefore I can see why he (Goodwin) chose not to drop Watts, despite the noise. However, Watts output remains brittle and he is soft (as he is soft). An outside receiver at best and should have been traded when we had the opportunity..

Hogan should not be a walk up start next week . That Goodwin will rubber stamp his recall rings alarm bells. I prefer he straightens/drys  out for 2 weeks at Casey . See if he sulks.

This ultra attacking brand of Goodwin's has its upside, That said, he is a rookie at best and has a rookies game plan that's got holes the size of a Mack truck in defence. For the dull edged, lets just say not even having Chip Frawley back could stem the bleed we have seen over the last 2 weeks. Leg speed? Frost is not the answer either. Cant kick to save himself.

Belief in a game plan or system will only take  a young club  so far. Neither having Lewis or Hogan could have saved us the last 2 weeks. I hope that Goodwin lives up to his tag.

For mine, I have seen nothing to suggest that at this stage he is capable of adapting in game to any side with  nous.

Nasher,

Thanks for the sentiment. No offence intended mate.

To me, Goodwin is remarkably composed and clear cut in his answers and explanations. He is very mature for a senior coach with 4 games of experience under his belt. Whilst there are some aspects of the gameplay (particularly defensively) that need improving, there's no need for any kind of worry yet. We did just win the first two games of the season for the first time in ages.

Your comments on Watts are drivel. His output so far has been sensational, particularly when the blowtorch was on him after Max went down.

So was Bulls. Watts is no Gawn and he, for the sake of the side, is of more use this season as a non contesting floating forward/back given our D issues.

Hibberd will add much needed class of half back .The only role I can see for Watts in this side moving forward is as a bruise free soft wingman, ala Riewoldt.

I recall that there's not much sense in trying to debate a point with you RR, but Watts did take two good contested marks on Saturday as our number one forward. There's a future for him in the attacking fifty. I'll leave it at that.

So far what i have got out of this thread is that its another 'Jack Watts Thread'

Poor bloke could cure cancer, bring world peace or end world poverty and there'd still be a thread on him saying what a [censored] job he's doing.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
