Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I dunno man, you asked what the problem was, so I told you.  No skin off my nose as I'd prefer to trade in HD for no ads anyway.  This is the first year I've even had the option of watching footy in HD.

The problem is your average Joe will flick to channel 7 to watch the footy and if it's not on they'll think it's a Foxtel game. Most people still stick to 2, 7, 9, 10 and SBS, the secondary channels are still just that - secondary. People don't really scroll through them when channel surfing.

Not HD which seems to affect some more than others (I'm an other) and there's a reason secondary channels rate a fraction of the main channels each night. Casual observers won't budge, even for AFL with Richmond involved I'd reckon it's a good 50-80 thousand less viewers in Melbourne. That's less eyeballs on our players and our sponsors.

We don't have that many sponsors to see anyway. BOJ still blank

I'd be filthy if I was PJ. I go along every week anyway, so it doesn't hurt me, but in terms of my football club, the diminished eyeballs on this game is a massive, massive problem. I'd be mighty [censored] off at Channel 7. My Kitchen Rules? Jesus. When will reality TV rubbish end? (I know, don't tell me - when the Offsets are back and we can make proper Australian television again)

Good, hopefully we smash the pricks

I reckon by that point they'll be flying. They are usually tuning up their beast at that point of the season in the lead up to finals. Pity we can't get the Sydney's and Freo's when they're ordinary.

The average Joe now realises there are more than the old 4 channels.

Those that watch MKR will

Those that watch footy will.

I'd rather go to the game and watch in super dooper ultra high definition with full surround sound... But then I live 2000km away, so I guess I'll just watch on Foxtel HD (I don't even think it will make it into 7Mate up here!).

Same mate.  I'm too cheap to shell out for Foxtel HD though.  I begrudge having to have Foxtel at all as it is - footy is the only reason I have it.

Why do you think channel 7 elected to put MKR on 7 and Rich/Melb on 7Mate?

Because mkr is 7's #1 show

Footy isnt. Mkr is about the casual nuff nuff viewer .

Footy is a specific category these days.

7 was once ALL about footy in season. Its now just another bow in its quiver.

The absolute die hards will have hd on foxtel etc.

Average Joe doesn't care. Be happy enough to watch it on ' normal'  Tge average joe has been happy with SD for 50years.

I can understand a few will be miffed. Many won't give a [censored].

Really beside the point. It should be broadcast live in HD in 2017. The quality of broadcast between SD and HD is significant.

Thankfully I have my international pass, which is 1080p requiring only 5mb/s internet speed. It's a better quality than the TV HD broadcast and with fewer ads.

Suits me! In regional areas 7Mate is HD. It's only SD in capital cities.

Seven in regional areas is pretty slack though. While Nine and Ten have an HD broadcast of their main channel (e.g. 8/80 and 5/50), Seven don't. And there's no 7Flix. Not that that's worth anything.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
