Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If we look at this logically, Hannan is due for a rest.

Weid is carrying a corked thigh and has been down in his performance of late.

They are the two close to certainty outs.

-----------

Hogan is an automatic inclusion if fit.

Hibberd is an automatic inclusion if fit.

----------

Pedersen got 29 touches and a goal in a losing side.

JKH provides much needed speed, goal pressure and forward line tackling pressure.

No one else from the VFL should be considered based on form and skills required in the 22.

----------

B: Jetta - Frost - Hibberd

HB: Hunt - T-Mac - Vince

C: Salem - Viney - Stretch

HF: Trac - Watts - ANB

FF: Garlett - Hogan - Kent

R: Spencer - N.Jones - Tyson

I: Oliver - TBD - TBD - TBD

For the last 3 spots on the bench --> Melksham, Harmes, Bugg, Pedo, JKH

I'd go with Melksham for backline help, Pedo for 2nd ruck, Harmes for fwd/mid rotations

I've seen every second of Richmond this season and haven't liked much of what I've seen. I said North were the worst 9-0 team ever last year, Richmond are a much worse 4-0 team.

Nankervis has made them their biggest improvement, as their rucks have been shot (semi typo) for years. Spencer is good enough to break even going on his form so far this year.

Their stars are playing well, the same ones that go missing when the spotlight is on. They don't worry me.

They're playing as well as they can and it's not impressive.

If we lose to them I'm going to be furious.

Do the crime, do the time.  You must've been bad?

I could live with that. JKH could probably do with a few weeks back to back in the VFL, but i think they rate him. He was picked in the preseason when we were playing our best 22.

Agree Forest. Think JKH should be breaking the door down with a string of performances at Casey.  Despite Hannan's poor form in the last 2 matches, I still think he has more upside that JKH. Still got to have faith in the selectors.

Personally wouldn't mind seeing petracca go head to head with Martin. Trac is strong enough to go with him, especially in the air one on one and is good enough to hurt him going the other way too.

Sounds good in theory but I'm afraid Martin would hurt Petracca a lot more going the other way...

This  is what Plappy had to say about JKH's game against W'town on the weekend.

"Jay Kennedy-Harris: Jay had 18 disposals, seven marks, four tackles and four inside 50s. It was his second week back after an injury layoff – where he sustained a broken arm in the pre-season. His running and ability to do it at a high level was a real highlight. Jay was very busy and he’ll be pushing for a recall to the AFL side.

Watched him closely and rate him. Gathered a fair amount of the ball in the first half then faded. Looked nippy but his decision making and disposal were poor.Needs more time at Casey

Jack Watts specifically mentioned JKH on SEN this morning.  Goodwin's pre-season player review of him in Heartbeat was glowing.  Will not surprise to see him in.

Agreed. Can't see Oscar playing as well though. Unless we're trying to use our zone and angles to intercept with our talls, ahead of their mosquito fleet. Just can't see that working. We'd get killed at ground level. There's also not a match up for both Frost and Oscar IMO.

JKH isn't quick, but he demonstrated terrific agility in his first AFL season. I'm not sold on him, but excited that the FD clearly rate him so highly. The professionals clearly see something that I don't.

He moves and kicks like a footballer. I guess my knock on him was his ability to have weapons at AFL level. Maybe it's work rate and an ability to use the ball cleanly? Certainly a trait we lacked last week.

I think Harmes' ball use is a liability, but he runs hard, tackles and finds the ball. I think it's more likely that Hannan is in the gun this week to allow JKH to return.

Melksham will be 'rested' in place of a returning Hibberd, they may well use the excuse that Melksham looked tired last weekend and that a week or two in the VFL to work on a few things is the way to go (ala Gus).

It's likely Hogan comes in for Weideman, but if Weideman plays, Harmes may end up going at the expense of Jesse.

I hope we are putting a bit of time into dusty I would be telling the players if your going to try tackling him put your head down and go as low as you can that way if he tries his famous fend off good chance he will get you high and you could draw a free kick, im surprised players don't do this against him he is a bull and almost impossible to tackle

Dusty is the one player I see time and time again get away with high fend offs.. along with the DangerWoods' and Pendleburys' of the competition.. A protected species.

I would love to see the famous Viney tackle on him though.. Ala Mav Weller. Would be a very satisfying moment.

Pedo rucked and got 32 possies. We need that, as well as his ability to play forward or back.

But you're not going to get that.

You're going to get 13 disposals, 4-5 marks, 4-5 hitouts, and maybe a goal.

We already know what we get from Pedersen.  i wouldn't select him and doubt Goodwin will.

Btw, Casey played Williamstown.  A stand-alone club.  The standard at VFL level these days is very ordinary.

You're referring to Maclure's comments on our half forward tackle numbers. I don't recall him mentioning Harmes, particularly as Harmes is averaging 3.3 tackles per game.

FOR ME:

B: Jetta - Frost - Hibberd

HB: Hunt - T-Mac - Vince

C: Salem - Viney - Stretch

HF: Trac - Watts - ANB

FF: Garlett - Hogan - Kent

R: Spencer - N.Jones - Oliver

I: Tyson - Trengove - Bugg - Harmes

OUT: Weideman, Hannan, Melksham

IN: Hogan, Trengove, Hibberd

Weideman, Hannan, and Melksham need to be dropped after their last match, and for some previous matches.

Hogan is an automatic in and upgrade on Weideman. Hibberd is ready for a run in the firsts. As for Trengove I don't care what negative connotations others have with him, he played an excellent game against Williamstown (arguably BOG) and for that, he's earnt his spot.

If the club is concerned about the up-and-coming Richmond mosquito fleet I won't be surprised if they keep Melksham in. If they opt. to go taller and provide a second hit out (other than Watts) I won't be surprised to see Pedersen in there.

In fact, looking at these numbers again, I don't know where Maclure is getting any of his figures from.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
