Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is that a hunch or from yoir source?

You have been known to be spot on with most things before it comes out in the media.

Whilst Frost is hardly streets ahead of Oscar as a key defender, he possesses speed and agility which at this stage we need - especially against a nippy Richmond forward line.

Frost made no more mistakes than Oscar has over the first three rounds. I question whether either will cut it as an AFL quality key defender over time. But time is on their side and we have no one else at present.

Regardless, I'll be shocked if Oscar comes in for Frost this week. Unless there's an injury, it simply doesn't make sense.

I guess it's possible that some players can play better at AFL level than VFL, and perhaps they think that JKH fits into that category.

Yes thats true...  I actually like JKH and wouldn't be against him coming in.. perhaps there is a specific matchup Goodwin sees for him.

We have a horror month's draw after Queens Birthday so if we're any chance of making finals, we need to be 7-4, which allows us the luxury of dropping 7 games on the way home (as long as we have a decent %)

Horror draw ?  There's hardly a decent side in the AFL and certainly no-one I fear.

We may lose to Adelaide in Adelaide, but I put them in the category of winnable games.

There's not a side I don't think we can beat on our day.

Frost takes Dustin Martin I'd have thought? Only one with the size, strength and speed to match Dusty.

I'm guessing Oscar probably comes in to play on Elton or Griffiths?

It'll be Elton or Griffiths. Not both.

Richmond rely on their three mosquitoes in Rioli, Butler and Castagna to make turnovers in their forward-half. It's the reason they're unbeaten.

Playing Oscar wouldn't be advisable against them. Not at all.

I dont understand how Oscar comes into contention ? Was dropped for poor form and 17 touches in the 2nds hardly seems to warrant an instant recall.  Frost is the better option IMO.

Firstly, 17 disposals for a key defender is very good, and secondly, how he defended and played his role would be of far more interest to the coaching group than his disposal tally.

Oh god I hope not. Frost has some weapons, but smarts isn't one of them. Dusty will kick 6 if he gets him. I can't think of one guy that can go with him one on one. Whatever double team he gets, Vince should be one of them. High footy IQ required.

Has Oscar ever played as a forward? Would it be possible that he could be picked to replace Weideman as the "second" tall forward, leaving Watts to be the third-cum-ruckman? Hogan, of course, as the "first". I realise it requires another forward to go, but that could be Hannan or Harmes going to the backline (perhaps to replace Melksham).

Of course, if Oscar has never played as a forward, I can't see it happening now. If that were the plan, I'd expect him to be playing forward at Casey for a few weeks first.

Horror draw as in WB, WCE (away) and Sydney all on 6 day breaks.

We've shown that we struggle off 6 day breaks and we certainly struggle off tough interstate trips such as Darwin.

In fact we rarely win under any adversity (ie - suspensions).

Yeah, I'd run with Vince on Martin - I can't see the Frost/Martin match up being favourable at all.

Then (obviously depending on final line ups), have Jetta/Bugg/Melksham (presuming he remains in the side), run with the mosquito fleet.

You HAVE to be able to take a contested pack mark to really be considered a KPF imho

Four names that ring a bell.  Hogan, Pedo, Smith and Watts....Jacks not always successful granted i ( in packs) but it asserting himself more. Id play him off a wing anyway.

Weid's a bit of a ways off being really useful...but can mark sometimes.  Big Mac can mark..Jnr Burger not so much as a pack style.

Not sure youd implant Oscar when you actually have REAL forwards to select.

thanks for the inside word

hopefully this doesnt mean Frost up fwd, I think we have tried that one enough. If Pedo doesnt come in, he is this years Dunn and is, well, done.

not sure about playing both Macs and Frost at the back, especially as Tigers arent that tall

But I have come to expect surprises from Goody so we will see! the outs will be fascinating as if omitted, one could deduce that Goody seems them as part of the reason for 'Third-Quarter-Gate' last week

FWIW, when Harmes plays out of the defensive 50, I see him as one of our biggest liabilities. If he's to say in the side, I'd much rather him remain a forward.

Not too sure about Hannan - even in the VFL he played as a forward, didn't he? I'm not suggesting it's pointless, I just don't know enough about Hannan to make an informed decision.

For what its worth I can see Hibbard , Hogan & Pedo being the inclusions this week.

Very possible.

Hibberd ran the game out and had plenty of the ball and used it pretty well.

Pedo rucked most of the day and got 32 possies as well.

It's a new group.

I'm not much interested in "historically".

Historically we've been cr@p.

Actually.... Jetta wouldn't be the dumbest. Great when the ball's in the air. Not a plodder. Aggressive. Likewise Bugg has a high football IQ... just not the physical gifts perhaps. I have a horrible feeling Melksham will get the job.

Bugg was my initial thought too, but, physically, I can't see him competently being able to compete with Martin.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
