Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 4

I'm not liking the way some people are talking about this bloke as though he is just a fill in. give him a chance, as he has hardly played regularly and he needs all the encouragement he can get. I have coached a little and i always believed in encouraging all players. More often than not they were the ones who bloomed.

It could also be a good, 12 week period where he can actually put himself forward for a contract at another club.  I say that not because I want to let him go, but even with Gawn's injury he knows he will always be the second choice ruckman.  If he plays well, does it alert other clubs to the possibility of picking him up?

Either way, there is plenty of impetus for him to play well over the next few months.

And Spencer as trade bait could be handy too.

He's out of contract at the end of the year so he may be able to leave for nothing after being on our list for so long... ?

Either way, it's a moot point as he will no doubt be using this as a huge opportunity to impress.

If freo play the same open attacking footy we will smash them on the G by 50pts +

if they change and go defensive itll be like the carlton game

young team, flying over from perth.  if we have any designs on finals this should be an easy win

we are missing 4-5 key players but they have a few injuries too, Bennell, Ballentyne, Clarke, and 7 other no names

at full strength, Dees win. Minus Hogan Lewis & Gawn, its 50/50 even at the G.

He's going to kill it. The way some carry on around here...

I think the problem is that Gawn has been part and parcel of the only semi-decent Melbourne team in a decade so now that he's injured we're a rabble again. Spencer exists for this very reason and is most definitely up to the task. He's a different kind of player but I can't way to see him help us win on Saturday.

And now that that curly question has been resolved, Spencer can fully concentrate on his game without any further existential distractions.

Well if that's true we are in a lot of trouble and are no chance at finals

freo are a bottom 4 team

Last week was a false dawn for Freo ....... an aberration.  This week Goody will put Plan B into full operation (we saw some cameos in the JLT series), we'll recover our goal kicking mojo (losing it last week was another aberration), and we'll have a comfortable 7 goal win.  Simply speaking, we have too much talent, we'll be too strong around the contest, too disciplined, too resilient, and we have a much better game plan.  Further, we won't go in with big heads like the Bullies did against Freo last Sunday.

Well this is what I've been telling myself all week, so I'll stick with it until at least 10 5 minutes into the first quarter.

If we don't win then it is a false dawn for us! We had want to win this! Freo are very very average!

That has not stopped us having troubles in the past DD.

Just two weeks ago it took us all day to subdue the Blues.

it wasnt pretty but we got it done

Ross Lyon will surely try to turn this into a dogfight similar to Bolton's plan in the Carlton game.

We will have to grind it out, Demons by 3 goals

I'm not so sure, they played like that in round 1 and 2 and had their pants pulled down. Then they played free flowing footy and looked much better. Someone reffered to it the other day as "TAC cup footy" and I think thats pretty accurate. Shouldn't be a problem for us, I hope we put them away early.

Totally agree. it will be interesting which approach Lyon elects to take. Last week they attacked a got an upset win. Will they roll the dice again or look to scrap, slow the game down and shut us down defensively with an extra down back and tagging Oliver? I hope they go all out attack.

MFC website confirms Spencer and Vince will play

Very important that Vince will be out there. We need more experienced generals on the field to guide the rest of the team. He had a bad game last weekend, but that can be excused considering he played the majority of the game with a painful toe. I'd expect him to return to his best this week.

but on the plus side we have:

Jones, Viney, Oliver, Vince, Salem, Watts, Petracca, Tyson, Kent, T Mac, Jetta, Garlett etc.

So we'll be right.

I can't believe Fremantle are beating us 21 - 14. If we were playing table tennis it would be game over.

I always played best of three or until I nudged ahead.

We'll win this week but a couple of their outside runners may get us if we're not careful.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
