Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAME DAY - Round 3, 2017

Happy to see so much optimism but after last week barely beating the bottom team I have no idea where the optimism comes from. Cats were top 2 last year with the same team. We finished 11th as we all know.

We have a chance but with 3-4 key players missing And such a young squad, I can't see it

if we start like we did in the last 2 games we'll be down by 35 at QT

Not only winning, but it is great that at the same time we are blooding new players. 3 in the first 3 rounds is fantastic for our depth.

I'm quietly confident as well - there was alot of pressure on us last week to make sure we didn't "choke" against a bottom team.  We nearly did, but getting the result will give the players plenty of confidence, and they will go into the game with freedom given that the Hogan/Lewis suspensions have most punters writing us off.  The other thing that is notable is Geelong's selection - they've bought back two inside mids (Guthrie and Menegola) and Zac Smith, because they are very worried about our brute strength around stoppages.  They were on the canvas last week against North and it's a sign of a good side to come back and win but I just think their depth isn't quite what it used to be.  Need huge games from Tommy Mac on Hawkins, and our small forwards (Kent, Hannan, ANB, Garlett) to combine for at least 6 goals for us to win.

Cmon man.. did you start following us this year? We won 3 in a row last year before Carlton embarrassed us..

Those losses against Carlton and Geelong wiped out a lot of good memories for the season.

Flying back from Queenstown so will miss the first half and get to listen to the rest on the radio driving home. Always start the week confident but then some old MFCSS kicks and I get very nervous, will be good to just flick in the radio to see how we are going.

You know although I believe we will miss Hogan, his work up the ground last week was undervalued, however I haven't exactly warmed to Lewis, he has come across with a reputation for having the ability to hit targets, I have seen him make more than average turnovers kicking or handpassing to the opposition (i believe he admitted this after his first game). The inclusion of Kent and Vince are excellent inclusions, and who knows how the Bull will go. I'm quietly confident so much I tipped them this week.

Forward - We will really miss Hogan. His forward play is one thing, but some of his work up the ground and st half forward ball ups he was active and influential. With him in our forward line we would have been too strong for the Cats.

Midfield - could be a break even, but the potential of Dangerwood doing some amazing inspiring things to lift their team over the line is a strong possibility. will really miss the presence, positioning and leadership of Lewis.

Defence - Vince is a huge plus even though he is making a couple of horrible errors each game.

If Harry Taylor plays on OMac it could be interesting. OMac, though capable of some slow and error ridden footy will probably cover Taylor whose forward play is questionable at best.

Very borderline game - feels like the Saints game.

I agree with you re: Hogan - although he was goalless last week he's so valuable as a hit up forward and doesn't need to kick a bag to make a difference.  In regards to Lewis, what I've noticed is that he's looked up a couple of times and not seen a target that he might normally see at Hawthorn, and found himself under pressure...he's playing in a different team and game style.  What people forget with the Hawks is that part of the reason that they hit targets is because those who received it made it so easy for the kicker - their running patterns are so predictable to one another.  Even Chip Frawley hits more targets at Hawthorn now!  I think you'll find that Lewis makes less turnovers the more games he plays (starting from round 6 unfortunately!!)

When looking at the fixture and the ladder, today offers a real opportunity. I think that we'll have six teams 0-3 and four teams 3-0. A win is a real chance to embed ourselves in the 8.

That being said, and it's possibly the MFCSS talking, but I still just can't actually bring myself to think we'll win. I have a hope or a dream but it doesn't feel like a reality or an expectation

As do I Deanox. And I think everyone else being so confident isn't a good sign. Might setbourselvesbupnfor disappointment here.

The way I see it, for the cats to win they need blinders from Selwood,Danger and ChickenHawk.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
