Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Unfortunately not. You will need for it to happen before Ethan is able to predict it. Ethan has a 100% strike rate and he wants to keep it.

Successfully predicted the Garland retirement, Watts trade and Ben Ken delistment. #BetterthanBradman.

I don't know.

I am all for going after a ready made star or at least a player that has proved himself over a full season or two. Lever obviously.

However, after some of our trades over recent years, I am not overly enthusiastic about players with limited games that have not been able to show consistent form or secure a regular place.  Likewise those that have had issues off the field.

I would rather go for a young draft player with the necessary attributes including a desperation to succeed that wants to prove himself.  Not someone found wanting.

With Watts out, there is every chance we throw 2 second rounders and grab him. Would not be the worse idea!

We now have 29, 31 and 35.

Trade one for Schache, take the gamble and back ourselves in to develop him.

Get talent in.  Sure he may be Watts 2.0, but its worth the gamble.

Given the angst about the Watts trade price, picking up Schache for the Watts pick would soften the blow for many supporters.

We would have a young, big forward who could end up better than Watts and even if he bombed completely, it would not be catastrophic, given our current list.

HOWEVER, our FD is not about softening the blow for supporters, it is about constructing the best list they can to give us the best chance of a flag.

That's not how the bidding works.

If he is bid for at pick 10 then the Lions have to use their next available pick on him, i.e. pick 12 and take the change in points after the 20% discount as a later draft pick -

In this example 1395 (pick 10 bid) - 279 (20% discount = 1116 points required

1268 (lions next pick 12) - 1116 = 152 (Lions get pick 60 as change)

So 12 for Ballenden + 60 at the draft

Aha! happy to be proven wrong. I thought GWS had bid with later picks last year, but have just checked and you are correct.

Umm, I don’t see it like that; I would prefer to look at it as a collective trade period result and not trade to trade.

One of the reasons why is that we should be competing for a flag next year and trading out someone who may assist in that for someone who definitely won’t isnt a big seller to the average punter.

Mick Mcguane was on SEN a short time ago and gave an insight on Schache.

Not sure how to put the link up but he basically stated teams should stay away from him.

Mentioned how some young talls find it difficult to transition form U18 level into the AFL early in their careers due to some rules/system the U18 competition has in place for key forwards inside 50.

They have a lot more room to work with and can dominate one on one when they are physically stronger than their opponents but they don't have that luxury in the AFL.

Also mentioned in his second game of AFL he took 5 contested marks and yet this season he only took 2 in his ten games. He thinks something is amiss with Schache at this stage.

Mick's point regarding U18 may well be valid, but is this not a contradiction? Mcaguane says Schache has failed to adapt to AFL. Uses the example that he took 5 contested grabs in his second AFL game (before fading)? Something amiss? We may well know what that is.

Hate to be one of those posters who say they know someone etc... but a mate of mine got chatting to C. Beames (they have a mutual friend) at a qafl game and asked him about Schache. Mentioned the players are fed up with how soft he is and how much he whinges about being away from family. Not a popular figure at the club.

I could be wrong but didn’t he stand himself down for the NEAFL grandfinal? Wonder if his attute would change being closer to family.. Can see why lions recontracted him so they can drive a deal over a number a years if need be.

Could be as simple as that.

He alluded to the fact that Schache started to turn his body while attacking marking contests, could simply be a subconscious issue as he put it.

That can clearly be worked on but I haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to say yes or no if he would be a good fit for us.

He also compared him to Curnow, same amount of games played and Curnow has shown more.

Schache and Balic will be alot better footballers back in Victoria.

If we could get Schache for 31 & 36 that would be gold.

As long as we leave Pick 29 for Brandon Starcevich! Lol

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
