Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Schache is a Casey talent right now too.

Problem for me is hogan will head back to Perth in the next 2 years. Schache is a vic lad and if settle should be good.

If we get freo 1st round for this and next and use that to get schache.

Use our 1st round and second next year to get lever.

Bilac for 4th rounder

if we trade JW for second rounder use to get young mid.

Grab Gibson from NM for free.

Keep 1st rounder for next year.

Seems no one wants him, at the price.  Could be interesting to low ball them and see what happens.  At this stage, the game isn’t being dominated by teams with monster forward lines - but it could be if they are a) freaks b) apply heaps of pressure c) are bullocks who smash their way through or d) super quick.  Not sure Love Shack is any of these things.  I would think, unless it was for a bag of chips and a used band-aid, it would be a no from us.

If Schache ended up at Richmond, he helps them, but they need decent midfield reinforcements. They drop away steeply after Cotchin, Martin and Prestia.

They need a Tyson, to tie the stars together.

They had the wrong Ty, over recent seasons. It was always the midfield they needed to get moving, & give support to.

Is this guy worth a look if not too expensive.

He was a number two pick so must have talent.

He may have been unsettled up north.

He can develop for a year or so and put on muscle.

He is big and mobile at 199 cms and 96kgs and would be insurance for Hogan, Tom Mac and Weid.

With JW going, another mobile forward would not go astray. Could also develop as that ruck/forward.

We don't seem to have an interest and if we get lever what do we have to offer?

What we get for Watts.

Jesse could leave in a year or two.Tom Mac could leave as a free agent. Weid might not make it. Pedo will probably only have this year left. We could do a lot worse than have him developing back home.

Fairly confident a round 3 pick will not swing it Mr. Leg

We will not clear JW for a 3rd rounder, I can promise you that. 3 clubs are showing interest. Port extremely keen. They have picks and will get another for Impey.

Appears JW does not want to go interstate.

And has been down to Geelong again today.

Find it hard to see the Cats coming with a good deal after they do a deal for  Ablett.

Whatever happens it is going to be an interesting couple of weeks.

We may have a national league, but it is interesting that we seem to be getting more and more players wanting to return home.

I guess it's always been a factor but it seems on the increase. I don't know if the stats confirm this.

The go home factor is strong and all clubs take a risk in taking a boy/young man away from their home state.

Despite the best efforts of footy clubs, family ties, the familiarity of home and the different culture between states and capital cities make adjustment difficult.  It is no different relocating people interstate or overseas in business circles except that the executive is more mature, stable and often has a contract tenure with the understanding that the the move will be only for a certain period of time such as 2 or 3 years.

The point I am making is that moving a person away from their home city/state is a difficult adjustment and whilst many make that adjustment, many don''t.

I remember years ago some felt that taking Watts over Nick Nat (have I got that right?) was the safe choice. I remember talking to a senior decision maker at MFC at the time and he commented that many within the club were concerned that the club would not be able to keep the big chap from going back to Perth due to his family ties. Watts was the safe choice.

Clubs and supporters have to accept this will always be the case, whether it be a Lever or a Hogan.

Schache comes across as being a less intense version of Weiderman. Similar size, similar build, similar ability, but less intense at attacking the ball in the air or laying a tackle. Thus far he has showed bugger all at AFL level, and seems to not have the mental temperament to cope with AFL as a lifestyle. I wouldn't bother with him unless he came super cheap. Looks like a bust of a draft pick IMO.

Similar  could be said about the Weid LT. The has laid a few tackles but bugger else.

I was going to say a less intense version of Watts.

Kidding.

Was it terry wallace that said Schache would be the bargain of this century if you can get him for a late first-round pick considering his upside as a #2 pick. We're essentially making the same play on Balic with 45 or so.

Is that the same Terry Wallet who set Tigers back about 10 years with his recruiting and list management coups?

Given the cultural/lifestyle differences are not that vast between Australian capitals (i.e. we all have beaches and beer) Im surprised the amount of AFL players that struggle living interstate. Most other Aussie athletes have to cope with living overseas, updating to new cultures, lifestyles and in some cases learn a new language.

I think raising the draft age to 19 would be a good start.

I hope that if we had any interest it would not be because of what number he was drafted.

If any club is aware of the lack of relevance of a draft number it's our club.

I could rattle off names but it hurts too much.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
