Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just watched his highlights on You Tube at the Lions and he is a big unit. Strong and tall and leads well, with an accurate kick.

Interesting comment from one Jonathan Brown " this kid is going to be star".

He has obviously had an emotional episode or period in his young life, but these can be helped.

I would try and get him. Could be a huge reward for little cost.

I definitely like your thinking here redleg. Puts pressure on Weid to lift also plus the go home Factor of hogan always there plus Weid possibly not making it, Watts out the door and Pedo ageing it's a yes from me. Rockliff spoke highly of him on radio today apparently

20 (Watts), 27 and 2018 second round for Schache?

Forward line mix of Hogan, Schache, Pedo, Jeffy, ANB, Milkshake and a bit of Trac.  Weid developing at Casey until 2019 as insurance for injury or major departure.

Schache's competitiveness is my main concern.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but if you trade your future Rd1 pick you can't trade any more of your future picks. If we picked one up in a trade we could forward it on, but one of ours not.

True, but the Cats under these rules are required to have at least one 1st round pick this year, to which they don't have one at the moment.

The drafting rules brought in a few years ago will not be enforced for a few years yet methinks.

Yes good point. If rules don't apply for 1 team they shouldn't apply for any. Would love to see us have a crack at it.

Hawks have neither a 1st or 2nd rounder this year. Traded last year.

Nobody wants the Shack!

I personally believe he will play his best footy at a Victorian club. Only in his 2nd year and is at the same developement stage as Josh Kennedy was at his age. And is 199cm.

If we could trade Watts & 27 to the Cats for 21 & 22.

I think Picks 21 & 22 for Schache & 42 could be sufficient.

Picks 21 & 22 would go a long way in the Lions securing Cameron from the Crows.

Thoughts?

Too top  heavy on the forward line with TMac and Hogan and the Shack.

That is a selection issue. Not a list issue.

The best players get the positions in the team.

Disagree when at this point when we do not have Schache on our list. If the club thinks Hogan, TMac and maybe Pedo are enough tall forwards, then they look more towards trading/drafting mids than aquiring Schache. Of course the opposite is also true.

I think you must understand, that reply was about the hypothetical statement of too many tall's in a hypothetical team, based on if we had Schache within our list.

So mine was an answer to that hypothetical statement.

It is all hypothetical Moonshadow, as none of this has occurred yet to my knowledge.

We all live in hope.

Beg to differ. NoSoup was replying to a trade scenario and his was about list needs rather than selection dilemmas. At trade time its about addressing list needs, eg. do we need another kpf? If it was a selection issue then "hypothetically" that logic could have us with 15 kpfs and only the best 3 get a gig, which is clearly not going to happen

But enough from me, back to discussing if Schache will be on our list

Offer a low ball bid and see what happens.   If we get him right, could be bargain of the decade. As long as he is healthy and no underlying issues I think he would be a good fit.

My fear is hogan departs in two years as a restrict free agent and we get a bit. With weids and shack in the mix we will be fine.

Is his value sliding? Three Victorian clubs have publicly pulled out.

Would 27 get it done, and if so would you make that trade?

I feel bad for the bloke, Brisbane are happy to trade him but clearly he isn't as valuable as first thought.

Wow! Three Vic clubs pulled out? There must be something ringing alarm bells big time. Hope Todd Viney is hearing them

Yes I can see where you are coming from. Lets assume Hogan at FF TMac at CHF replacing say Watts as a tall, 2 mid size in Petrac and Hannan,  2  smalls in Garlett and Nibbler, there is VB mid size as spare and Pedo tall as well and KHarris. Shack would be a vgood acquisition. However can he be a regular as he struggled to play in Brisbane's best side. Will he bide his time in having to earn a position in the team.  I believe that Watts was put on the trade table because he has been passed by Tmac  to play as the tall on the Forward line.

Its my opinion but that is  what the FD have in mind l suppose. What would Shack cost us to get him?

Which I think you could see, most likely it would end up being more like Hogan, Weide, and the Shack... with TMac playing elsewhere, in the team.

From an Age Article by Caro.

The Brisbane view was that Richmond wooed Schache and in doing so contributed to his poor form and reduced commitment. This version also dictates that former Lions coach Justin Leppitsch stayed in touch with the player once he rejoined the Tigers as an assistant coach. Further there was an allegation that Richmond subsequently lowered Schache's trade stocks by passing on stories alluding to his fragility involving a first-hand experience after the Tigers interviewed him.

Richmond, in turn, angrily deny all of the above. The Tigers claim that while they interviewed Schache they lost serious interest in the player as an immediate prospect once he re-signed with the Lions. When Schache was offered around again, say the Tigers, their situation had changed. Nor were they prepared to consider the estimated minimum price tag, which, in a best-case scenario, would involve something with a three in front of it.

Richmond say Brisbane have only themselves to blame. That the club failed to adequately care for Schache's welfare in his first season and did not put enough thought into his living circumstances. Even the Lions would privately admit Schache was physically exhausted at the end of 2016 and he should have been managed more conservatively in a playing sense. Still back in year one he showed signs of being the dominant forward his No.2 draft placing suggested he would become.

This Article suggests misinformation from the Tigers has put other clubs off. Jonathan Brown sees a big future in the kid. Caro suggests that he could be traded for a pick in the 30's. To me that is a cheap gamble. I would take it and if it doesn't work move on. We are losing Watts and Pedo will be gone a year later. Weid might not make it and Jesse might leave in a year or two. He would be great insurance and could turn into a top 22 player anyway. It will be fascinating to see how this plays out and how he ends up in a few years.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
