Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Out of interest, how do you know what instructions were given to the teams...

I don't, but when one team seems very confused with interpretation, and they are on top of the ladder, mind you (and would be well aware of stepping off mark, going for mark and infringing, etc) and the other team knows, who, and this is how today, etc, who would you like to be on.

Adelaide are reported in the Herald Sun to be reluctant to take 10 and 27 for Lever. No doubt it is only a coincidence that Adelaide refused Carlton's demand for two first rounders for Gibbs last year.

IS Jake Lever’s expected move to Melbourne on the rocks?

If they refuse the picks they risk getting nothing, I’m sure dees could get him through to pick 10

What if JW goes to Sydney. We get their 2nd draft pick (31) and Swans swap their 1st pick (14) with Adelaides (16) to sweeten the Lever offer?

I know some will say unders for Jack but we have devalued him this past week.

We have three tall defenders in the McDonald's and Frost (plus Hibberd and Jetta as stalwarts down back) and we are looking at giving up the farm for another?

Don't get me wrong, Lever is a gun but I'd much rather we go after another midfielder or simply use the draft picks in the draft.

Neither OMac nor Frost showed enough this year for any of us to be 100% convinced.

I'm much more positive about OMac than, say, STMJ, but I still accept that he isn't anything certain.

Bringing Lever in will likely make his job much, much easier.

It also allows us to do one, and maybe both, of two things:

  1. play TMac forward (his best football in 2017 was, in my view undoubtedly, as a forward); and
  2. release Hibberd, who spent too much time this year being forced to play as the third tall.

Even still, we need midfielders more than we need Lever.

Until a quality midfielder becomes available, this is a nothing argument.

There isn't currently a midfielder available who promises what Lever promises.

Besides which, I think if we bring Lever in and can release Hibberd further up the ground that will assist with part of our current midfield problem.

That said, I don't believe Lever is worth two first round draft picks. I think Adelaide is posturing, and fair enough too, but if that becomes the true asking price I wouldn't pay it.

Totally different situation...Carlton held the whip hand because Gibbs was still contracted for a few more years.

Lever is out of contract, they can't hold him.

I'm convinced 10 and 27 is a fair deal. So our job is to offer something lower publicly and then we can go up to 10 and 27 and save face with the Crows who have lost a heap of young players and need to look tough.

Of course we can't make an offer public until Lever declares his interest to us and the trade period starts.

Just a thought if the Crows don't budge on two first round picks. Would we be able to snare Sydney's first round pick as part of the potential Watts deal?

As a basis, Watts + Pick 27 to Sydney for their first round pick (pick 13).

Picks 10 + 13 to Adelaide for Lever.

So that would be picks 10, 27 and Watts for Lever...Jaysus!!

If that was the case, let him go to Collingwood!

Geelong gave up picks 9 and 28 for Dangerfield.

Coughing up 10 and 27 would be a slap in the face for our clubs negotiation skills.

Lever may be a decent player...but he is nowhere near a Patrick Dangerfield!

Not apples with apples. Danger was a free agent.

In Taylor we trust.

Adelaide will see how nice we are to them, and let us have Lever reasonably, because we have shown them they need to invest in more runners and not more backmen plain and simple....

He was a Restricted Free Agent and Adelaide said they’d match the Cats offer which forced Cats to trade picks.

Lever is actually easier because as an in contracted player he can just walk and Crows can’t stop him. He can use Luke Ball trick. Put a ridiculous price on his head and say he’ll only take one year at any other Club and then go in the draft again. No Club would touch him and he goes to Dees and Crows get nothing. He goes to us and then negotiates a 5 year deal or whatever and the first year price is absorbed into the contract. Ultimately that is why Crows will have to be reasonable. Im sure I t won’t get to that. Also sure Lever won’t want to leave that way unless absolutely forced.

If lever needs to go to the pre season draft he can put huge $$ on his head and we can keep picks 10/27 as well

Does he go into pre season draft or national draft. In same scenario Ball went into the National draft and he went all the way through toCollingwood’s pick 30.

I’d go national draft. I think the pies would be reluctant to use pick 6 on him. They would be the risk. Also the saints with their two picks

Do you know if he get a choice or does the system dictate the draft?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
