Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are you seriously trying to suggest he is worth just a third rounder?  Bloke still has years of footy left and can be a matchwinner on his day.  Consistency issues aside, you could easily get a late first rounder for him.  No way we give him away for that.  I'd rather keep him.

If we are a good team Watts is the icing on the cake. He doesn't need to be the flour or the eggs etc.

He is the best finisher in the side. We need that. Who would you rather shooting for goal than Watts, in our side.

I agree on keeping him as we will be better off with him when we are a good side, than having another mid draft pick that may get us another player that can't do what he already can.

He was not to blame for the last round and people need to look at who was. For starters look at Garletts non efforts, Tysons 6 turnovers in the first quarter, several one arm tackle attempts , Bernies passing, Tom Mac's game etc.

It's not about round 23, it's about 9 years of mediocrity. We all know he has skills, but in 9 years has delivered basically nothing. I like him, we need him when he's in form, but I'm also sick of his lackadaisical efforts. The issue is, we won't get much for him, but do we rid our club of these kind of individuals to move forward from the Neeld days? I'm 50/50

The super draft discussion is not entirely correct.  There is some top end talent but it drops off after that.

This years draft has a more even spread of talent just no real stand outs

What a joke! And I confess I've fallen for it over the years.

Draft quality does vary from year to year but future predictions are fraught.  It's not even clear yet how strong the 2016 draft was let alone the 2018 draft.  It's only now that there's some evidence for assessing the strength of the 2015 draft.

Not really relevant to the thread but it's headed that was. The King boys, Walsh and Lukosis would all be top 7 this year and they are 16-17. If I was a bottom team I'd want 2 x top 5 picks in 18. This year, I like Raynor I like LDU but the development of the U17 boys next year should blow Raynor out of water

It seems Lever is pretty much a certainty to leave the Adelaide Football Club, but just thinking about after winning a flag with Adelaide would that make him more likely to leave now that he has won a premiership, or less likely?

This question has sparked a bit of divided opinions with my mates. Thoughts? I say more likely.

No change.  He's already made his decision and its unlikely to change based on the weighting of winning or losing a premiership.  He's made a professional decision, based on a number of factors one of which will be increased remuneration over what he's paid at Adelaide.  You aren't a footballer forever and he will make hay whilst the sun is shining.

.........you like him?

And yet I get your point. No player causes so much internal pain, joy and frustration as Jack. He continually challenges our emotions and judgement. I expect when he retires we will be non the wiser of his standing in the rankings of past players. We fear if we trade him his best will haunt us. If we keep him his worst will do the same.

I don't know the answer.

I like him and love him when he is on, however that is very rare hence my/our frustration.

Actually I like, love and hate Jack Watts. Go to hell Jack, you are messing with my head!

Well the age newspaper and Terry I think I know more than I do Wallace says it then it must be true.

My brother is a recruiter for an AFL club and doesn't hold the same supedraft opinion.  As I said there is some really high end talent but it doesn't go deep

You know more than Terry Wallace and Jon Pierik because you claim your bro is an AFL recruiter?! Lol! Sure, as long as you say so mate

Regardless, I'd like us to keep our 2018 1st round pick to get some of this "really high end talent", arguably the definition of a super draft.

A little birdy told me Barry Prendergast is a regular poster on DL. Thinks Lever is perhaps the greatest footballer ever, thinks Tmac's younger brother isn't up to AFL standard and more than happy for Weids to ply his trade in the maggos until 2019. Yet to pick a smokey though. Oh and doesn't mind the odd condescending post or two hundred.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
